If we Get a Smash Game on the Super Switch, This is what I Imagine some of the Roster to look like (Base Roster and DLC)

-Gen 8 Pokemon (and New Pokeballs )
-Octoling
-Another ARMS character(s), whether Spring-Man, Ribbon Girl, Twintelle, Ninjara, etc
-Ring Fit Trainer
-Akira Howard
-Geno (if he's not already in the game)
-Isaac (especially if that remake does well, Also if he's not Promoted)
-Waluigi
-New Zelda Character
-Tales of Character (In not already in. It's been a long time coming honestly)
-Mortal Kombat (If not in this DLC, definitly Next game)
-Crash (If Not in the DLC, Definitly Next game)
-Reimu (If Not in DLC, Perhaps next game)
-Sora and/or Mickey Mouse (If they get the Mouse, That Money will pour in)
-Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow (If either of these 3 not in DLC, they definitely come Next Game)
-New Xenoblade Character(s)
-Dante (If not in, Also We might get Vergil also)
-Chun Li
-Zero
-Alucard
-and More

I think we may have Alot of DLC in the Next game, but they got to figure out a Good Payment plan since Making people pay like $300 on One game can be a hard sell. Perhaps take a note from SFV and allow DLC being able to be earned for free if people Play long enough, though it be alot of hard work if you want all of them. People will blow their money regardless, and people that don't want to pay money have an Avenue

|Unpopular Opinion, but I think a Modern Military Fire Emblem would be amazing. And could still be more unique considering Magic and the More Character Based Nature of FE.
Wait you mean Fire Emblem that has Pistols, Machine Guns, Tanks, Drones, C4's, Nukes, etc. I'd be down for that, especially if you combine that with Magic

Though the question is, will we still get the Waifu Designs that Alot of Fire Emblem Fans love, or would that be toned down

It's okay. They had F-ZERO tracks as well! That makes up for it, right? :4pacman:
And a Captain Falcon Mii Costume. Because as we all know getting a Mii Costume of a character instead of the actual character itself will always 100% satisfy all the fans of that character. :4pacman:

I agree that the next Smash should focus on expanding the 3rd party roster for series already represented. Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow are MINIMUM, but I also support Eggman as DLC.
We also have Proto Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Zack Fair, Jeanne, Dry Bowser, and Raichu as obvious Echo Fighters.
I even have an idea for Raichu to give his tail more range than Pikachu's, but only the tip has a strong hitbox. The skinny part would be pathetic.

Once Fire Emblem becomes that is when Fire Emblem loses its identity in my opinion. They have other franchises where they could take a new twist on it because they’ve been dormant for so long. Wars, Codename Steam, or of course a brand new IP could benefit both IS and Nintendo in the long run while still keeping Fire Emblem as a core franchise of medieval based strategy. I dunno, maybe it’s ONLY me who thinks this but I dunno why IS and Nintendo hasn’t revived or given these franchises a new life.

Besides, there’s already a modernist wars based strategy game that is just as good if not better than Fire Emblem and it’s called Valkyria Chronicles.

I have several ideas for how this could work while still allowing Advance Wars to stand on it's own. I definitely think the Waifu Designs have to be toned down to logically work, with some potential exceptions for Magic and Tank Users on a Case by Case Basis. I think that Pegasus Knights would still be around despite the Tanks replacing Normal Horses, mostly because a Fighter Jet in a system akin to FE would be awkward. Guns would be a Risk-Reward Based System, mostly because using a Gun gets rid of ALL of your magic. So do you want to still use Fantasy Weapons with the Magic, or use Guns with no Magic? Also, I definitely think Sami should absolutely make a Cameo within the Roster of Units, as a nice nod to Advance Wars. Also, all Armored Units can't use Guns or Dark Magic, but are also very proficient within Light Magic (in order to survive Guns lol). I could go on all day, but it is 12:30 in the morning where I live so I should be in bed, so I guess I'll stop here for now lol.

Then again Tokyo Mirage Sessions was on ATLUS sooooo..................................
Yeah, that's why I said I'd prefer a steampunk/magitek setting rather than a straight modern Fire Emblem. That, and Fire Emblem's more individual-focused gameplay might not mesh well with tanks and aircrafts.
FE World War 1 could be insane not gonna lie.

Speaking of Fire Emblem, the new Lyn figure is now up for preorder and they released an official drawing by artist Wada Sachiko and a reference sheet of the new redesign.
So get this, right:
Lyn, a Lord from an irrelevant game released 17 (about to be 18) years ago, gets an official figure with a new design that isn't outsourced to a company like GoodSmile (Edelgard/Lucina/Female Corrin) but instead made by Intelligent Systems themselves.
She's maintained such long-standing popularity that IS is confident in putting out a custom figure of her purely because fans just like her and not because she made it into Smash or came from the best-selling game in the franchise.

And she still aint in Smash.

She's in an extremely severe case of Morton's Fork, isn't she? She's definitely popular, no doubt about that, but with so many other Fire Emblem heroes, she'd be lambasted regardless. Damned if she plays, damned if she don't.

Man that 8 Bit Mario thing wasn't what I expected to see first thing in the morning.

Lmao at Delzethin being seen as a good one, you know, the guy who threw a fit about Incineroar saying he makes no sense at all and claiming that multiple icons in gaming history just have very loud fans while saying Geno's an icon in gaming history

stinks

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to sacrifice half the entire playable Fire Emblem representation to appease the FE gods and get Lyn in there instead. A small price to pay for the superior Fire Emblem rep.

You know, I'd say Delzethin's still one of the better Smashtubers/speculators because they are just that low quality in general.

In what way is a person's few poor words reflective of all their content for eternity? Never made sense and never will.

Sounds just as poor of a mentality as it looks.

"this character didn't deserve to be put in the party game"
View attachment 294533
Deserving is extremely subjective. I mean, one could argue the post is a bit bait-y, but otherwise, that's just a matter of opinion. Besides, Sakurai doesn't add everyone based upon "deserving", but sometimes fun ideas. PP and Wii Fit Trainer are two examples of having a different approach.

I feel it's also why it's not even worth debating over. There's no real way to make a good point in either direction.

Hot take; thinking that characters need to "deserve" to be in Smash is a joke of an argument meant to stroke the user's own ego over one factor over another. Like constantly complaining about third party characters due to being irrelevant to Nintendo, when Smash has been evolving specifically to be more welcoming to such characters thanks in part to their contributions to the video game medium as a whole.

On the topic of themed Fire Emblem games, I mean, it's just me, but I think a Pirate-themed Fire Emblem game would be cool. Using inspiration from The Odyssey, Jason and the Argonauts, Atlantis, the mythical city of Ys, the Ages of Piracy, The Count of Monte Cristo, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, etc. Like sure, Nintendo has Wind Waker as a Sea-faring game, but c'mon.
The leader and his crew, exploring around a world with big islands, with both navel battles and on-board ship battles, going to both giant island kingdoms and mysterious islands, finding legendary ruins, the dragon characters' forms are Sea Serpent themed, and when nearing the final battle, to get to where the final battle takes place, you use whatever legendary object to split the sea into two to walk down to the area and you prepare for the worst as you near the area while the Guardian Leviathan dragon just gazes at you from the walls of the split ocean.
I just think a Pirate-themed Fire Emblem game would be cool.

Not that I disagree, but this feels like it's getting more insulting about one person's mentality than outright acknowledging why the argument is poor.

Maybe we should change subjects before it gets heated?

I said Hero, not Luminary.
There are four Heroes, Eleven, Erdrick, Solo, and Eight.
Erdrick, the most iconic Hero, is definitely at least as iconic as Mega Man and even on par with Cloud as a mascot.
Four Heroes represents Dragon Quest as a whole, and to even imply that Dragon Quest is a niche franchise outside of Japan is ludicrous.
View attachment 294522
To put that into perspective, the next three franchises that have sold LESS than Dragon Quest are Tomb Raider, Halo, and Just Dance!

Even if it's super ****in' duper popular in Japan, it's still a juggernaut worldwide.
Dragon Quest is absolutely not a niche franchise.
this thread never disspoints.

niche doesnt mean- I've never played it/ i dont know what it is.

only here do people argue legendary franchises are niche

fire emblem should not ever be fully modern. the heroes mobile game is fun for them to experiment with but FE is way too important to the big N to just change the entire setting. that's like making zelda into modern-day or samus into steampunk. long time fans would not be happy.

Additionally doing that with FE is just dumb that fanbase is already heavily split. three houses was a miracle to get both sides approval not sure the next game can repeat that.

With the way the vocal minority acts, it might as well be. I've seen it way too much.
these people really confuse me like what were they playing while being "long time" videogame fans? was it literally just mario games and nintendo only? we've seen sakurai's place he's a legit GAMER he plays everything we need more of that mentality and less player gatekeeping themselves from great games.

I don't know why, but after thinking about it again, I'm starting to believe in Dante as a Playable character again, and that's getting me excited

Criteria for being deserving of Smash:
  1. Can you yeet Mario off the edge of Final Destination at approximately 79841325398 miles an hour?
  2. There is no second criteria all you need to do is be able to commit yeetus Mario and you're cool
You heard it from SharkLord folks, only Ness deserves to be in Smash

-Mortal Kombat (If not in this DLC, definitly Next game)
I don't think Mortal Kombat characters will get into Super Smash Bros. for 2 reasons..
1) Mortal Kombat games are known for their over the top violence, the most they can get away with would still leave the game with a Teen rating (see: Injustice series). I don't think that Sakurai, who strives to keep characters true to their original series, would want to downplay a huge part of the series to somehow fit an E10 rating.
2) Mortal Kombat isn't really that popular of a series in Japan, it was even largely absent there for years until Mortal Kombat 11 and I don't think the series would make it in over more worldwide popular fighting game series like Tekken, Guilty Gear, or BlazBlue, all of which would be easier to fit into an E10 rating.
-Sora and/or Mickey Mouse (If they get the Mouse, That Money will pour in)
Sora is fairly likely, but Mickey Mouse would never happen, at least not as a Playable Character. Video Game characters only has been Sakurai's ONLY stated rule, and he's been pretty strict on it. The most I could see him do is bend it slightly to allow Donald Duck, Goofy, and Mickey Mouse to appear as Spirits or part of Sora's Final Smash, but that would be the only bending of that rule I think he would do, since technically they would be the Kingdom Hearts incarnations of those characters and also not part of the playable cast. That said, I don't even see Sakurai doing that, I think that he would cut it at only Sora and original Kingdom Hearts characters like Riku, Kairi, Roxas, Xion, Axel, Aqua, Terra, Ven, Xehanort, etc, much like how only Kingdom Hearts OCs appeared in Final Fantasy crossover titles (mainly just Sora, Riku, Roxas, and Axel).
Lyn should have been chosen over Roy.
Agreed...but then, she didn't exist yet..not even Roy's game had come out yet when he was put into Melee.

the new Fire Emblem Heroes stuff (about the centaur mechs) does make me think that a character with a second moveset that has to be physically accessed would be neat. like a fleshed out Wario Bike, a mech suit, etc. Something you could separate from the wielder. would be a neat gimmick but a fair amount of work.

as for characters? i dunno, put elma in with a mini-skell or something. this idea wasn't an elma post to start with i swear

Well I got my pre-order in (am honestly debating about going for two). Hopefully they come out with Marth/Ike figures or an FE6/7 artbook. I wish IS would do more surprise announcements like this more often instead of every 2-3 years; the prices on the Tellius OSTs/Artbooks, FE6/7 OST, and Echoes artbook go for hundreds now.

Didn't realize IS was more or less putting this out themselves. Did that happen with the random Tharja/Cordelia/Camilla figures?

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to sacrifice half the entire playable Fire Emblem representation to appease the FE gods and get Lyn in there instead. A small price to pay for the superior Fire Emblem rep.
Same. Kind of wish that both she and Ike made playable status in Brawl. I can only vaguely remember those fanbase wars from those days. RIP Hector.

Ngl, sometimes (emphasis on the sometimes) I wish we lived in a timeline where Awakening was a flop, Fire Emblem bit the dust and then emerged an Advance Wars reboot. I say this because I don't think the two seires could coincide. I vastly prefer the peppy aesthetic and modern setting of the "original" Advance Wars over basically any Fire Emblem.
