Speaking of the whole High school outfit thing, is there a reason Athena Asamiya isn't being considered?

Because she's not the main protagonist of KoF or the mascot? What makes Athena more important than say, the rest of the KoF roster?

I personally don't see the point of trying to discuss the Milk Bosatsu rumor. It only works if the next character is Nakoruru and at the moment, Signs are pointing towards either Terry or Kyo. I've been against it since the guy basically said that he saw a model for said character in November.

Shouldn't it be the other way around in regards to Kyo and Terry?

Ryu/Kyo - Main protagonist and face of the fighting game series he's in.
Cody/Terry - Protagonist of another game series that is a regular in the fighting game series.

Difference is Terry has a huuuuuuuge fanbase, but still the analogy's a bit weird.

I think she's way too obscure if you compare her to King of fighters, Fatal fury, Samurai showdown or even Metal slug.

My thoughts on the poll characters:

• Kyo Kusanagi (King of Fighters)-Potentially interesting, but from what I've heard he's got a recca playstyle which capitalizes on blocking mechanics that aren't in Smash. I feel like gameplay wise he's pretty interchangeable with Terry, just with a counter and possibly a command grab instead of an overhead kick and a Falcon Kick-esque punch attack.
• Terry Bogard (Fatal Fury/King of Fighters)-Completely uninteresting to those who can't get good at him or didn't already like him. He's the one who I expect.
• Nakoruru (Samurai Shodown)-She's my pick because she seems like the most interesting gameplay wise, though there might be an issue where all of her special moves look like Side Specials.
• Marco Rossi (Metal Slug)-Does not appeal to me whatsoever.
• Mai Shiranui (Fatal Fury/King of Fighters)-The other pick that could bring something that feels fresh to casual and competitive players alike. They could pick her but I'm not sure if they will.
• Geese Howard (Fatal Fury/King of Fighters)-Probably the most boring pick they could muster. A lot of this character's specials look like normals and that's not good in my opinion. (They could surprise me but I doubt it...I suppose that's what makes it a surprise.)
• Iori Yagami (King of Fighters)-He's certainly...something.
• Haohmaru (Samurai Shodown)-Where's my samurai? Yes this is the most intelligent comment I have about this character. I'm not sorry.

Idk at this point we're just floundering in the wake of a looming announcement. Athena is seemingly the main character of SNK Heroines.

I still don’t get the support that Shantae & Klonoa have tbh. RH & GS make more sense since they’re Nintendo franchises atleast.

I keep seeing people say SNK characters aren't interesting, so I'd just like to quickly mention Athena Asamiya:

Originally the descendant of the Athena found in the Famicom/NES game of the same name, and first appearing as the protagonist of Psycho Soldier, Athena is consistently one of SNK's top ten characters in polls and has appeared in every King of Fighters released to date, as well as many spin-offs including Capcom vs SNK and her own title on the PS1, Athena: Awakening from the Ordinary Life. What makes her unique is that she has psychic abilities - in Psycho Soldier this manifested in being able to condense her psychic energy into a ball and fire it as a projectile (sound familiar?). She's also been shown to be able to move objects with her mind, use her psychic energy to make her own attacks more powerful, create a barrier, teleport, and heal wounds with her powers. Along with these highly versatile powers, she'd also bring with her some real funky music:

Anyways, its been three months since we last had Smash reveals and I do anticipate that they will unveil the release date for Banjo-Kazooie and see further gameplay footage of the character itself as well as revealing the fourth new challenger within the Fighters Pass.

She's the main character of her own franchises. Most of the KoF roster(though not all of them) isn't.

But Psycho Soldier isn't, and she's still popular in SNK polls and is the SNK Heroines face. She's also been in every KOF game. She's not as high as Terry, Mai, Nakoruru, or Geese, but she's up there.

Or Nakoruru. I'm just imagining the unique and creative moveset she'd have. Sakurai likes those that's why he choseover Dedideueye given his wrestling moves and never been an wrestling based character in Smash before.

Yes, the Japanese Wikipedia* says it too. Let's say that it separates the first appearance on Nintendo console.
So in all cases, including Samurai Shodown, SNK is the only third-party company in Smash that appeared for the first time at Nintendo on GB. All non-born on NES series would appear on different consoles. Fun coincidence.
