So who do you guys actually think the most likely Square rep is if we actually do get another?

Only ones I see in the running are

2B
Geno
Lara Croft
Neku

Sora doesn't count as he's Disney.
Don't really know. I mean, Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest were at least the obvious ones. In these cases:
-Geno is mainly a fan favourite that needs the cooperation of two companies who may or may not be interested at all.
-Tomb Raider is a big deal, but it also really depends on if there are no issues with giving Lara her dual guns. Like Joker having his gun, despite being an airsoft gun, should be reasoning that they're less harsh on realistic-looking guns, but we don't know their reasoning why Joker was given a pass and if Lara would be given the same pass as well.
-2B has the benefit of being both very popular and Square trying to promote her series after Nier Replicant's massive reception, as well as her creator's blessings. The only issues that poses any concern to her is CERO and any other possible characters Square may want over her.
-Neku, compared to 2B, is definitely more a cult favourite, but a really noticeable one as well as a character and series that one of Square's higher-ups, Nomura, has alot of affection for. Neku has the benefit of Square bringing out a new game for his series and the possibility of Square wanting to promote TWEWY, as well as Neku being a popular pick among Nintendo fans. And unlike 2B, he doesn't need to worry about CERO. But like 2B, it really depends on Square looking on which character is more marketable.

So yeah, compared to Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, it's not as easy to guess who the next Square Enix character would be. And it's really not just those 4. They could possibly do another Final Fantasy character due to Final Fantasy having many fans of each of their entries. Square also has the Bravely series, that is another possible pick for Square. If we include Eidos, alongside Tomb Raider, there's also Deus Ex, especially considering how massively received Human Revolution was. And let's not forget that it's not just Square Enix and Eidos, but also Taito, the company responsible for frickin' Space Invaders, as well as Bubble Bobble, Arkanoid and Darius.

So How Would Monster Hunter play in Smash?

With Monster Hunter being Rather Slow due to their Oversized Weapons; and Byleth being a thing(Due to Byleth Being a Slower Heavier & Less Mobile Weapon User, What Could Monster Hunter do that Byleth doesn't already do or Fill the Niche For); I Doubt that MH will EVER Get into Smash. . .

Nevertheless; I'd Love to see Gameplay Ideas for Monster Hunter in Smash Bros. . .

Honestly GS in Let's Go form.
Let's Go Johto games WOULD Be pretty Cool; But So Would Sinnoh Remakes. . .

Man Neku gets a new game and all of a sudden he’s the most likely Square Rep huh?

We really do never learn.
They'll figure it out eventually.

Also it's hella biased as is considering no one wanted to give Bravely Default II, a brand-new Square game, consideration but oop, Neku????? Confirmed!!!

It is indeed funny but to be honest we've reached the point where people quickly jumps to make fun of the P5 fanbase and like, I've literally saw more people saying "I'm expecting Persona fans coming and saying "this TWEWY game looks like Persona"" type of comments than actual Persona 5 fans saying that

Besides the tweets that are obviously bait posting, I think I've seen at best 4 or 5 genuine "this feels like Persona 5" comments.

I still really don't put much, if any, stock in the League rumor TBH.
Not gonna say the leak is absolutely real, but it got more stuff right recently, so it's at least got more credibility than any mention of Geno, yet people lose their **** over the latter and brand the former as fake.
As the owner of two threads dedicated to LoL, I'm not putting too much stock in it, either, but... honestly? Every time I see the Mana Spirit event get called a "lucky guess", it kinda reeks of Mandela effect.
I know I'm very late on this (was typing a response, but second-guessed myself): I still stand by my position that I don't put much stock in it either.

The circumstancial stuff should not be ignored though, and that makes it very difficult to just throw the leak into the trash. Not just the console ports, but Nintendo's own collabs with Tencent have become multifacted. The leak came out 6-7 months after TPC and TiMi (Tencent's mobile dev) had teased a project they were collabing on IIRC (guess what that became), and 2-3 months after Nintendo and Tencent had released the Switch officially in China.

The circumstancial stuff is not indicative of anything neccessarily - just ask Ubisoft - but I am suspecting that they've at least considered talks re: Smash. Any talks do not guarantee anything either - see Steve - but I won't count out LoL because there's a 2 year window where they could initiate talks. There's also the possibility that the character / Mii costume does not happen.

They did, but it's still recognizably obnoxiously huge

Sephiroth's is larger than Cloud's as a constant and I certainly don't want that here.
I'm already imagining the Sephiroth vs. :ultminmin matchup. Oh jeez it'd devolve into a giant poking battle.

Anyway we got yet another leak

Pokemon Unite's already in its beta-testing stage it seems, so that's a given really.

As for which Pokemon games are getting remakes... maybe Lets Go Johto, but kinda thinking the Sinnoh remakes. It's been a while since ORAS after all.

Square also has the Bravely series, that is another possible pick for Square.
How many people have I ninja'd lately? I swear I've been mentioning things that shortly after my post, people complain about them not being talked about.

Either Sinnoh remakes or Lets Go Johto.

Either D/P remakes or some kind of Let's Go for Johto, assuming it's true. Hopefully the former, but with an updated dex (DP's was garbage imo, Platinum improved it dramatically).
In general I hope the Sinnoh remakes take more cues from Platinum then ORAS did with Emerald. The way Platinum built on the base of DP brought those games up in such a big way as it fixed a number of issues like the dex and pacing on top of adding a number of fan favorite features like the Battle Frontier. Ignoring those updates would be more of a detriment to the remakes since they improved so much for Sinnoh.

I'm not complaining that Bravely hasn't been talked about, I'm complaining that people's recency bias is stupid by using their other recent game as why it isn't a smart assumption to make. If I wanted to talk Bravely, I'd ask "Well do we really need BDII or do we go with the original Ringabel Tiz?"

I think that it will be Let's Go Johto and there will be some differences from the original Let's Go. Also, Kanto will be present.

Do you really consider Let's Go as a main series title? Have Pokemon standards really dropped that low in the past five years?

I still wonder why they thought it was a good idea to make a new Steel-type with access to Levitate and Psychic STAB - in a time when Steel granted some resistance to Dark and Ghost - and then only place TWO Fire types in the whole dex, one of which is weak to said Psychic STAB.

Or create a bunch of new evolutions to old mons, but make 90% of them post-game exclusive.

Thank **** for Platinum.

Time to shill cool Capcom games that are on sale:

  • Ace Attorney HD Trilogy for 15 bucks
  • Okami for 10 bucks
  • Devil May Cry 1 for 10 bucks
  • Devil May Cry 3 for 12 bucks
  • Mega Man 11 for 15 bucks (not to mention the multiple Mega Man collections, also on sale)
  • Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate for 10 bucks
  • Dragon's Dogma for 15 bucks
  • Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle for 10 bucks

If you want 50+ hours of silly but also heartfelt and tragic lawyer stories with a wonderful cast, go for Ace Attorney.

If you like the classic Zelda structure, and you want an unique aesthetic and interesting setting, then Okami is a must.

If you are in the mood for an over the top action game with depth and replayability, then go with the Devil May Cry games.

(Not going into the other games because I haven't played those yet or because I'm not really an expert of said games, but those are also great choices)

Okay that's it for the shill post.

It's clearly gen 4 remake. Before his leak tweet he tweet that: C'est quand que vous arrêtez de vous plaindre en fait, sous prétexte qu'ils n'ont pas sortis un remake 4G encore ?, which can be translate to "When will you guys stop to complain about the fact that they still haven't remade Gen 4?"

Then, 1 minute after, he tweet that: Vous allez l'avoir en Novembre prochain votre remake, arrêtez de vous plaindre. Et vous allez dire "omg Pokémon c'est la meilleure licence", which mean: "you will have you next remake in November, and will stop complaining. Then you will say "omg Pokémon is the best franchise ever".

Also if somehow you haven't played RE4 on the dozens of consoles its been on, its worth a pickup if you want to experience it on the go.
**** I forgot about Resident Evil. Scoliosis Jones would be disappointed.

Yeah, I'd say the first Resident Evil or RE4 are good starting points if you only have a Switch. Otherwise I'd suggest RE2make or Resident Evil 7.

The remake for the original RE has aged incredibly well in terms of visuals, it still looks great. It has a metroidvania-esque design and the mansion is a fantastic designed place. About the control, it can be somewhat clunky for some people, specially if you haven't played games with tank controls in the past, but it isn't unplayable or anything, it just takes a while to get how it works. One of the best remakes out there, if not the best one.

And RE4, while it's very different in terms of gameplay and design in comparison to the original games, it's still a must. An amazing action game, pioneer for a lot of third person games that came out later, like Dead Space. Fantastic level design, great enemy variety, fun as hell, a lot of weapons, the game constantly brings new locations and situations to the player, and more.

Just off of pure Square-Enix PR talk I would say Lara Croft is the most likely. They said that Tomb Raider is one of their 3 pillars in terms of franchises and, well, we got the other two pillars in the game already.
That pretty much guarantees she won't be in because Nintendo and third pillars never pan out.
