I'm confused... what are you talking about with SF v DS? I googled the phrase, even with 2013, and all that came up was a bundle of DS for SF in 2018, and the comic.

I'll say it again. If Darkstalkers ever makes a return and gets the success it deserves, one thing it needs is having more cryptid-based characters as a means of expanding its lore. After all, it already does have Sasquatch.

She's from Idolm@ster, a Bandai Namco Rhythm game that is surprisingly popular in Japan center around Japanese Idol.





Tbh, never played the game but I watch the anime which is really good and better than Love Live (if you know what that even is).



Long story short Haruka Amami is part of the original cast member in the game and Haruka has been regarded as the poster child of Im@s as well as the leader, cause there have been multiple iteration of the game with vastly different cast of character and even a male spin-off which always overshadowed the original.

Her connection to Nintendo is not that any different from Joker or Cloud. idolM@ster does have a DS entry(and one of the first idolM@ster games to have a male model), but like Joker and Cloud, a handheld game is her only Nintendo appearance.

Honestly at this point darkstalkers have whitstand teh test of time, and morrigan have even trascended to teh point she isnt even an obscure capcom character.

Wish that wasn't the case. I love the premise, concept, and setting of it given my love for mythology and cryptids (Given Sasquatch, and also what I think the series should expand on if there is ever a Darkstalkers 4). Really hope it returns one day, hell I'd settle for even a remaster bundle of the first three games.

For new characters, if DS4 even happens, Anita as an exorcist archetype and Marionette as a haunted doll archetype needs to be made new characters. The ghoul and goblins/gargoyle's quest universe and the Red Earth universes are ripe for a darkstalker crossovers too. Imo Tessa would fit amazingly into teh witch archetype and Firebrand would fit a gargoyle archetype. and both of them have some cult classic games and some degree of following. Someone once suggested that Ruby heath and amingo from MVC2 would also fit as the haunted pirate archetype and sentient plant archetype.

As for criptids.. dunno, some would fit pretty well, but i don't think taht it should be more than one or 2 max new characters based on that.

A chimera as mythological monster would also be pretty rad.

yup, a re- rerelease of a decades old game with 0 marketing behind and a couple of new ilustrations.. a game that likely appeal to the most hardocre fans who already likely have the game. what could have gone wrong?

Well, I'm outta ideas...I'd do anything to get this series back from dormancy...

At this point im assuming if a darkstalkers 4 game happen, is gonna be a handmade animations based game done probably from the new lab zero studios (i dont remember teh new name) guys have already shown to be heavy darkstalkers fans (even though skullgirls have tons of other FG references), have already expressed their interest on a darkstalkers project, have teh expertise to animate a new hand drawn darkstalkers game, and skullgirls is already the closest we have to aome kind of darkstalkers spiritual succesor.

At this point i think i can only hope for a darkstalkers 3 rererelease on teh switch with great netcode.

an (Succubus), Demitri (Vampire), Jon Talbain (Werewolf), Felicia (Werecat), Hsien-Ko (Jiangshi), etc, all those stemming more from mythology than crypt

Only thing Darkstalkers needs to expand it's lore is a time travel story to bring in Red Earth characters.

It would be interesting if DS4 had some kind of innovation and is not only darkstalker updated mechanics.. but yeah, it would bepretty cool if teh new game borrow tons of stuff, from red earth in order to expand the gameplay with other ideas.

But seriously, the minute someone brings up Geno in a alleged leak or rumor, your expectations should drop like a rock. That's not to say Geno will never be in a rumor that turns out to be true, but so many of them have turned out to be wrong that it's honestly amazing how little people need to see before becoming convinced a leak might have some merit.

At this point geno have been "leaked" som many times, that if he is really in, and he would be leaked with a pretty convincing video, i would still be surprised if he ever gets revealed...

I mean she is still an eligible character, however unlikely you find her to be, and her series is owned by Namco to boot. They even had a support thread here during the Smash 4 days. (Couldn't find one for Ultimate though).

while i have been a little seasoned and havent been left in the dark from which character joins smash in a while... smash did introduce me to Metroid back in the 64 era. and fire emblem in the melee era.

I mostly just want the characters. Red Earth is a ton of amazing designs all based on monsters and monster hunters, so it would fit in with DS pretty well, just, in a different time period.

So would Ghosts N' Goblins for that matter. As both DS and GnG revolve around the Makai kingdom.

Just make it so DS, GnG and RE all take place in the same universe, but DS is in the modern day, GnG is in medieval times, and RE is ancient history. Then make the plot of DS4 revolve around Firebrand trying to collect the Crests from Demon's Crest again, but something happens with the Time Crest that creates portals between the 3 periods.

Yeah, I got into Ys just because I asked about Falcom and got a response. That led to a chain of events where I got Ys VIII less than a week after finding out about it, making a huge writeup on Adol, and creating this one image for some reason.

Smash speculation introduced me to all the characters I've wanted, except for Minecraft Steve and maybe Incineroar.

About Haruka, I really don't see why they would go with her before Donchan if they really want a Rhythm Namco characters. Idolmaster games sold very poorly outside of Japan and it never got the big following that Taiko no tatsujin have. Legit the only thing that is keeping Idolmaster alive is bad mobile game full of micro transactions.

Disgaea is the kinda game where dealing a tons of damage on a basic attack is the norm. The series identity is built on super over the top stuff like that (not to mention the animations for even most of the simpler attacks), sure they could probably make Laharl work; but I cannot really think of a "balanced" way to do it, without deviating from the series core. And if Sakurai was a fan of Disgaea I think the last thing he would want to do would be get rid of what the series is most well known for (it's super over the topness).

I don't really like to use this word, and I do like Disgaea. But I think Disgaea would be one of those series that is "impossible" for Smash due to Sakurai not being able to stay accurate to the series roots. I think Sakurai would deny it, but hey if we get Disgaea in Smash I'd be down.

Wdym not accurate? Even if Disgaea has over the top damage it's really there just as an extra flare cause 100000000 damage is like the equivalent of dealing 50 damage to an enemy. I mean you could say Sakurai just add a damage indicator everytime Laharl lands an attack and it's just that easy cause most of the over the topness are all came from various unique ability and skills, with some being as absurd as getting hit by a human cannon ball to something like getting slashed, gunned down, and punch repeatedly just for one enemy is something of an overkill.

Tbh, I prefer Haruka much more than Donchan respectively. Idolm@ster is as basic as you get when it comes to vanilla rhythm game and it could actually make up a good moveset potential due to how basic the mechanic are in the game.

No surprise really as when it comes to fictional succubus' she's the first one that pops up.

Goes to show that despite the franchise's dormancy, it's still alive in spirit notably in the Marvel vs. Capcom games, I've always seen Morrigan as Ms. Capcom and their Captain Falcon.

Once again, I just think adding more of them would be a good means of expanding the setting and lore of Darkstalkers. Having a mix of both mythological creatures/beings and cryptids.

But if that were the case, ones I could see fit are the Jersey Devil, and Yowie (Could use another Australian character after Lord Raptor).
