So Papagenos is speculating a pattern regarding Mii costumes noting how the Heihachi Mii costume came with Min Min whose a fighting game character and now Travis and Gil who have blue swords similar to Steve's diamond sword.

Assuming there's a pattern, Ryu Hayabusa could come next with Lloyd as a Mii fighter since they both possess katanas.

Stupid speculation aside, are Lloyd's blades even katanas?

It's going to be Kirito from Sword Art Online because they both double-wield swords.

The regular ones he has are Katanas, and are the ones featured in his Smash 4 Mii Costume

I don't know if the Blue and Red material Blades he also has (and also featured count as Katanas)

Lloyd and Elma are closer than one might expect, especially Mechanically, as they both Dual Weild, Wear alot of Red, and also have a mechanic that allows them to Combo chain Specials and stuff. So If either or were to get in, I wouldn't expect the other

Man, designing it so people that play kirito literally die when they lose? Sakurai really can pull anything off!
The perfect plan; no worries of having to try to follow up on the sheer insanity that is Ultimate if your entire audience dies :4pacman:

Aw, I was late for all the Falcom talk... Oh well.

I do want to bring it back to Nihhon-Falcom to change the subject from leaks for the millionth time. Any fans of that company want to give me some good games to check out? Which Ys? I think Disgae is from them? That sort of thing
For Ys, I would personally recommend "Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana" or "Ys Seven" the most.

I think Ys VIII is the best pick for someone trying to get into the series. It has a wonderful story, perfected modern Ys combat, and one of the best soundtracks ever (in my opinion). I'd say it's probably the best game in the series, but I've yet to play an Ys game I haven't loved.

Ys Seven is my personal second favorite (VIII is my favorite). It's the start of the modern Ys gameplay style, so it's not as refined as VIII, but it's still a blast to play from beginning to end. The story is great (my second favorite after VIII), and the music is amazing (as expected of the Ys series).

Oath in Felghana and Memories of Celceta are great too.

Edit: (I'd tell you that Disgaea isn't a Falcom series, but I'm sure you already know that now).

tbf Lloyd can't do overdrive or pilot a mech

and everyone knows adding mechs to a thing makes it 1000000000000000x cooler

I thought Overdrive was Elma's Combo Special Canceling mechanic and such. Though yeah Lloyd does not Pilot a Mech, nor does he have Rifles, nor can he also summon Ghost clones since I believe Elma can do that also

Though Lloyd's Og VA voiced Teen Titans Robins, so that's a huge pro in his favor

So the Falcom talk happened here?

I don't know **** about it, but that's why I'm interested.
We were discussing a leak that got stuff right with certain Falcom games getting ported to Switch. It could very well be a similair situation like Dante's leak from the base game where someone with credible information said he's in Smash Bros as a fake out mixed with other real information. Regardless the leak still has gotten stuff right and it has more going for it compared to other leaks. Here's a post I made attempting to give a summary about it. And if you're interested in the history of Falcom and why it's important enough to be chosen for Smash then check this long video out.

I know a certain character that can reach that hard...

Samus. With the Super Duper Wavedash:

You just need 6 frame perfect inputs to do it (3 of which need to be instantly after the other).

:4pacman: (Yeah it's pretty much useless because it has no practicality)

So you're telling me that is Galeem's plan all along? To get Kirito into Smash and go from there? :4dedede:

Edit: Swing and a miss.

I understand that people don’t like Fortnite but don’t hate it because it is something that doesn’t take your interest and is very popular among a different generation. Smash characters are not decided by older players and the hardcore smash fandom. Your generation probably also had similar games become popular similar to Fortnite or Minecraft but you never look at there were also others who had to deal with it. I understand that you people have a connection with games you grew up with and you want those characters in. But remember smash is a celebration of gaming and doesn’t just reflect gaming during the 90s or early 2000s but it includes modern gaming of today. You also have to understand that these beer popular games are games kids will be attached to such as those you guys became attached to when you were a kid and have good memories about.
You could also argue that most of the first fighter pass was slanted towards an older generation. Because I am on the younger side as a teen but if it wasn’t for smash speculation I wouldn’t have recognized or known about characters such as Banjo, Joker, or Terry. So probably most of my generation didn’t know about or experience Banjo, Joker, or Terry in their home games.

Another point is that I could make the same argument against you guys about old characters that why add older characters when they are irrevelant and unknown to a younger generation. Also smash is aimed at a younger generation of kids like how you were when you were a kid when you saw ads or played whatever smash game you started with.

This is my opinion but I think this pass will be for more younger people and you will see more modern characters get in but that doesn’t mean we won’t a couple of characters popular among an older generation.
Finally addressing Fortnite because I think that Epic Games only makes collabs with more Western companies is BS. They have made numerous collabs with Nintendo including a package of a switch with Fortnite on it with a skin exclusive to the Switch. They are also currently doing a collaboration with Nintendo of another switch bundle that is coming out sometime this year or next year. From Nintendo’s perspective this would seem as a good deal because you brought a major popular character that has become major mainstream and they will make a lot of money off of it. Including you could also bring more people into the smash community and get smash will become bigger also due to other big streamers such as Ninja giving it a try giving Nintendo free promotion.

Yes?

One hour long?

Can't we get a tl;dw?
I'll try to give a summary but do watch the video later because a lot of stuff is mentioned in it and I'm too incompetent to mention them all because it would require me watching the entire video again to remember the points I forgot :psycho:. If the video is too long I recommend watching it at your own pace, different chapters are timestamped at the description which detail the different phases of Falcom history. But with that said some of the notable stuff I remember from the video is:

-Falcom's primary developing system was the PC. They were the leading developer of PC gaming in Japan at the 80s and 90s.
-Falcom was the starting company for a lot of developers that would later on develop their own franchises like Takahashi of Xeno fame.
-Dragon Slayer is considered by many as the first true ARPG, it released even before Dragon Quest and was inspired by Ultima.
-Falcom had a major brain drain where a lot of their talent left them at the late 80s.
-The music in Falcom's games is developed in-house and is fully owned by them.

Let me propose a question because after pondering it over myself, I feel as though my feelings on this subject have changed. I want to gather some opinions.

Why the hate for a Fortnite or Overwatch character?

Fortnite and Overwatch are both phenomenal examples of successful games from the most recent era in gaming. Smash Bros. is supposed to be a celebration of gaming history. We don't have many characters from the most recent era (2015-2020).

Sure, both games may be hotspots for kids and, dare I say, "normies," but I believe Fortnite and Overwatch should have just as much of a chance as any other gaming franchise. Like Minecraft, they're too huge to ignore, moreso Fortnite than Overwatch but still.

We can block out the idea of these games getting a character into Smash, but if it does happen, it makes way too much sense. They're just being overlooked because of the stigma that surrounds their games like Minecraft before Steve got in.
I mean, besides being the "cool things to hate" and Activision Blizzard's controversies, it's most likely because they are still pretty new and there are alot of people who want characters who've been around longer than they have.

That said, compared to Fortnite, I'd be much more okay with an Overwatch character. Mostly because I have played it and enjoyed the characters. And I guess because I also like Overwatch's artstyle alot more than Fortnite's artstyle which just looks very unappealing to me.

Is it wrong that I didn't even know Falcom existed before Smash speculation?

.....tbh I feel like that's probably a case for a lot of people. From everything I've heard, Falcom is much more known in Asia than the west, and has only recently started picking up steam here.
before Smash speculation, Falcom is a name I probably heard a few or so times, but would not have been able to associate any games/franchises with said name like I could with other gaming companies.

So nah I'm basically in the same boat.

Falcom never got proper Western exposure until Steam became popular enough for Japanese developers to use. Falcom's games were strictly on the PC for three decades and because there was no proper distribution store for Japanese PC games on the West Falcom never took off here until recently. Nowadays Falcom primarily develop on the PS4 due to the PC's declining popularity in Japan but they still port their games to PC, albeit a year later and relying on third party companies to help them with that work.

So I'm trying to look at legitimate candidates for voice theory. I was thinking about Devil May Cry, but I don't know very much about the series. How similar is Virgil to Dante? Could they work as palette swaps? Are their personalities too different perhaps?

Arthur!!

Not quite; There were a couple that came before it, and it seems that Dragon Slayer is considered the first codifier, coming before Ys and even Dragon Quest. That being said, Ys is a more popular and consistently long-running series, still going strong to this day. Dragon Slayer only lives on through spinoffs and spiritual successors, like Tokyo Xanadu and the Trails series, both of which have dropped the Dragon Slayer title.
The legacy of the Dragon Slayer series franchise is, frankly insane. Every game in that series is completely different, but each of those games spawned it's OWN series. Some of which are still going.

So while I think Estelle has a good chance due to other factors, it's easy to see Rean or Adol as having a good chance as well.
I'd just rather have Estelle cause she's not an anime swordsman. She's an anime staffwoman.

I understand that people don’t like Fortnite but don’t hate it because it is something that doesn’t take your interest and is very popular among a different generation.
How bout I do anyway?

I showed restraint during Steve. I won't do it twice in the same pass!

Not close enough to be Alts, or even Echoes. Vergil could work as a Semi-Clone since his Force edge and Gauntlet moveset is kind of close to how Dante fights with Rebellion and his gauntlet weapons. Vergil with his Yamato is completely Different though. Vergil and Dante's personalities are also radically different as well
