Gonna be honest
dantes chances are overblown and I think someone else like Phoenix or the hunter would have a much better chance than him all because of their Nintendo connections. All Dante ever did was just port 3 games on the switch & nothing else
Dante does have the advantage of Devil May Cry V being a recent and super successful game that brought the series back after no major releases since the early 2010's.

Question is, is that enough to give him the edge over Phoenix Wright (whose series has had more consistent releases throughout the years, plus has essentially been Nintendo-exclusive until the recent HD Trilogy) and Monster Hunter (consistent releases again, plus is essentially Capcom's biggest series)?

I actually remembered him not too long after I posted and tried to edit him in really quick.

Sorry Mr. Wright!

Seriously, I find a Capcom character incredibly hard to call re: likelihood because there's so many options (again, the Nintendo vs. Capcom idea is often brought up for a good reason). I'm partial to Dante first and foremost because I'm a combo-lover and really enjoyed playing 4 (thinking of getting 5 at some point in the future when I get a newer computer). Amaterasu is a close second because of similar potential and because that would be the first appearance she's had since being a courier in Dota 2 (2015) I believe (edit: that appearance tied into Okami HD's Steam release. The courier was limited too.). Correct me if I'm wrong.

Although I wouldn't mind any Capcom character TBH. So many options, again.

I dunno. For the time being, I'm giving all three a 30% and saving the remaining 10% for a left-fielder. Assuming we're even getting a Capcom rep, that is.

I mean, Chun Li's thunder thighs are so huge that first timers will just stare for 5 minutes out of sheer awe, if someone posted them here, a bunch of people would be unable to post for a day

Sure would be a shame if someone were to cause that.

I wouldn't mind them adding Chun-Li. She's awesome :)
Samus vs Chun Li would be a pretty awesome match-up.

So you’d rather have more flat jokes? :troll:
I honestly was ignoring those too, Tyo busy thinking about what a new MH game would bring
Considering the massive open worlds on MonHun, whatever it is, it'd have a slew of cameos of other Monsters in the backgrounds.
again, Ketcha Watcha must show up or im rioting

If Monster Hunter gets in, What would be the stage though?
Ancestral Steppe, Ancient Forest, or Hoarfrost Reach would be my guesses.

The former because they already tapped into it for the Rathalos boss stage, and there's a lot of variance to the level that you can make an even more unique stage out of it. With the latter two, both come from World and its DLC Iceborne which is the most successful title in the franchise, and for many those two levels would be the first they've seen in each which would make them viable picks.

Also, as said before we'd probably get cameos in the background, in which case we'd probably see monsters like Rathian, Gore Magala, Zinogre, Ash Ketcha Wacha, Tobi Kadachi, Nergigante, Velkhana, Deviljho, and Bazelgeuse depending on which level they choose. The latter two would be stage hazards so that Smash players can experience the torment of having a monster jump in out of nowhere and screw up your fight.

I do got a question though

How much influence you guys think Nintendo had in choosing the Base roster of Smash Ultimate?

Besides what Arcanir Arcanir already suggested, Elder's Recess could also be the stage. It's the main area where Elder Dragons and other special monsters reside in World. The stage could also have a cameo of Behemoth, which would help raise Final Fantasy's pitiful content in Smash.

If you want to prove your point, I feel like you're going to need to go a bit more in-depth for that. Or maybe say that to RTC, which is the thread designed for arguments of varying effectiveness. Let us...

Yes. Let us discuss thighs and spew flat puns in peace.

Whatever allows Deviljho and co. to waltz in and ruin your match.

I think Nintendo has more influence in choosing the base additions than people realize, and I think Sakurai has more influence in choosing the DLC than people realize. Not in every case, but overall I think it's more collaborative than for which people give credit.

And yes, I'm aware of the statements that would seemingly contradict this belief.

I kinda feel this way too. I think it might be more of a Collaboration. I think Some characters might appeal more on Sakurai's End, and some might appeal more on Nintendo's end, but I think the choices are ones Nintendo and Sakurai might already converge on, and i think that might apply to base roster as well

The reason I ask because I had a thought that perhaps some of the DLC might be characters that, If this was a Normal Smash game, they might have already been in, but because The game was focused on bringing everyone back and lots of stuff from the past, alot of Potential new stuff couldn't come to fruition

Like if you look at the base roster, there are only 6 Unique Newcomers. Among those, one is a Semi-Clone, and only 2 of them came with unique stages, out of 4 new stages in the base game. New Nintendo Franchises for example were at a Disadvantage for this game, among others.

If this pass is really more low-key, and Min-Min is any indication, there might be a chance to go back to those hypothetical types of characters, and if Nintendo does have more influence on the base roster than some might expect, that could prove more merit for this theory, since it's stated Nintendo chose the DLC.

Amaterasu/Phoenix Wright (I can't choose), Crash Bandicoot, and Elma

Honorable Mentions: 2B, Black Shadow, Leon Powalski, Master Chief (Now that Doom Slayer is deconfirmed), Medusa, Nightmare, Ryu Hayabusa, Scorpion, and Sylux.

Once the Switch took off, I always figured a major Monster Hunter game for it was inevitable. Capcom haven't been terribly impressive with their projects/ports on Switch (Okami excepted) but they are not foolish enough to leave money on table when portable Monster Hunter always sells like gangbusters.
I'd say that the port of Devil May Cry 3 is impressive as well. Besides being on a Nintendo platform for the first time, the Switch version so far is the official definitive edition of the game, because it's not just a port. It also has some new features, such as 2 player co-op and being able to switch styles in the go.

I believe that you are forgetting someone important...
Hey, you used the wrong pic for Phoenix. This is the one you should have used:

Gonna be honest

I didn't know Dante himself ported the 3 original Devil May Cry games to the Switch. Sure, he's really strong, but still, being able to port 3 games by yourself is pretty impressive. Capcom better have paid him well for crunching him.

I mean, all Joker had was PQ2, and all Cloud had were spin-offs and minor roles in KH games.

Funny how Devil May Cry and Ace Attorney are pretty much the exact opposites when it comes to Nintendo console releases.
Devil May Cry never touched a Nintendo system until the past couple years when its classic trilogy got released on the Switch, but the modern games remain solely on the other consoles. Ace Attorney never touched Nintendo's console competitors (Playstation and Xbox) until its classic trilogy got released on PS4 and Xbox One a couple years ago, and it's modern games remain exclusive to Nintendo in terms of consoles and handhelds (not counting mobiles/PC).
