Maybe I'm overly cynical, but if one "outsider" tries to impart a more measured demeanour on the fanbase, and they do it politely and even ingratiate themselves through flattery of Geno, people might "like" that post, people may even agree with that post, maybe even the following pages try to chill things out a bit. But eventually mob mentality will resume. Because feelings will outweigh reason. And especially because there are individuals in there who purposefully maintain the state of being on tenterhooks.

And if multiple people come to impart a message, I suspect it will be seen as a raid. There's already a lot of friction between that thread and all the others.

You're not being cynical, can verify as having happened to me and several other people.

I just like discussing new characters. Without them, we'll just keep going in circles around Geno for the 821368th time, debating random points that are more about being right than about Geno's actual chances. The Atelier discussion was nice because we'd never touched on that before, and I kinda wish it had gone on longer. With that discussion boiling down and the possibility of the direct not coming/being a mini, it feels like the discussion will go back to the well-worn circles again.

Remember how Smash fans refused to even learn about what a Persona is and after Joker's reveal a lot of people were like "how was I supposed to know who he is"?

Feels the same with current discussion. Like, I think Ryza is still super unlikely but it wouldn't hurt to be ready for the possibility that next newcomer isn't someone we have discussed to death.

I'd suggest Reimu, but she's not exactly ignored anymore, is she? I still think she's slept on given Touhou immense popularity in Japan, but she's acknowledged fairly often nowadays and she's not unexpected anymore. As for actual sleeper picks...
Ezio is seriously ignored, despite Assassin's Creed being huge for Ubisoft. I'd imagine Rayman's cannibalizing all the Ubi support, isn't he? On that note, the Prince of Persia's pretty ignored too, even if he's a lot less likely.
Bill Razer is also massively slept on. Contra's an NES classic just like Mega Man and Castlevania, and it's what popularized the Konami Code. You'd think he'd get more attention, but nope. Nobody talks about him. On the topic of Konami, Raiden would be awesome, and a great way to bookend Snake being the first third-party guest in Smash. Alucard would be sweet as well, but there's less he could bring with him.

Also, Civilization. That's right, Nuclear Gandhi for Smash. Admit it, you want it too.

People were asking why a lesser known character would be revealed for FP7 over a bigger and widely known character since, in theory, the next character after Min Min would've likely been revealed at this year's E3 had it not been for unforeseen circumstances.

Well aside from COVID possibly ****ing up every plan in existence including the order of the lineup, maybe this means the Smash doesn't end with a bang fanrule will be broken after all

He doesn't display any feelings one way or the other for the game, nor is it even clear if he's actually played it - or likes it. On the topic of the Character Roster "Ending in a Bang", Was Bayonetta really not that hype? I wasn't too much on the boards around that time, so I don't know how popular she was for you people and such

But from what i remember with Youtube reactions, she seemed pretty hype. Granted Cloud was absolutely the Biggest thing in the DLC, but that doesn't mean Bayonetta didn't end with a Bang. Cloud could be 4 Barrel Shotgun, while Bayonetta is on a Double Barrel, but both of those still go Bang

I don't think they will put their most "Hype" Character at the end because that's bad Business, but we still can get a cool character at the end.

As a big fan of old Sega ip and Rhythm games, I would honestly be the only person on earth super hype for either Ulala from Space channel 5 or Amigo from Samba de amigo. Another character that I would be super excited and that I rarely see mentionned is Sackboy from Littlebigplanet. LBP 2 is a huge part of my teenage year and it's basically the reason why I also love 2d platformer that much, I used to create level, analyse others level design etc. Sackboy would be a very huge deal for me personally.

There isn't anyone I am particularly hyped about (I doubt Dixie will get in), but if they add another Xenoblade rep, I hope it is from X and not 2. Oh, and a Rhythm Heaven rep would be really fun. Terry Bogard was a love letter to arcade fighting games, how about one to rhythm games now?

Out of all of these, Farmer is probably the only one that has a good shot, though that ain't saying too much. Everyone else is for sure a definite no-go. I mean I guess I could see Frogger, but I ain't holding my breath.

I think Sakurai kind of imply that there would be at least one third party in a Famitsu column where he talked about the impact of Covid-19 and the fact that he couldn't do any presentation to third party developpers.

Eh, I doubt we'll get nothing but 7 first party characters one after another. It's still too early to be sure but Min Min doesn't mean a full-Nintendo pass, just like Joker didn't prevent Byleth from being in the first one.

I’d love to see Rayman in Smash, but people are absolutely biased towards him when it comes to an Ubisoft character. I’ve seen a couple people treat Ezio almost like an “enemy” too lmao. It does seem like Ubisoft is more interested in Rayman for Smash though.

& yeah, Contra is insanely overlooked. It would reasonably be up next after we got Mega Man & Castlevania. I think there’d be a lot of moveset potential too.

American McGee's Alice: Probably not allowed because of being based on a book character, but you can make the argument that the work is its own thing and that Alice is a video game character first and foremost. Anyway, I really enjoy the games and setting.

Guybrush Threepwood: If you want to represent the point and click adventure genre he would be your man.

I... really hope we don't get a shadowdrop. It will be hard to not get spoiled if a Smash announcement happened then.

Regarding the Tencent thing: this is definitely not the first time it has crossed over with an SNK IP, but it certainly seems to be the most notable, along with that new Metal Slug mobile game I literally didn't know about until half an hour ago, what the hell.

Plus they seem to have done some really... interesting... crossovers in the past for other games, like with Godzilla, SAO and DC Comics.

So yeah, worth keeping an eye out for more Nintendo collaborations. And I'm not even talking just Smash here.

Another crossovers that Tencent done with their game like PUBG Mobile is adding Suicide Squad, Resident Evil 2 (2019), The Walking Dead, Mission Impossible, and Angry Birds.

The one thing that I notice about Arena of Valor having a advantage over League of Legends is that AoV is actually available on the Switch, and it was release on September 25, 2018. The very same Sep 25 that the amiibo is going to be released (if COVID-19 doesn't interfered with the date).

Since there is a emphasis and insistence for Fighter 7 to be a Fall character, and not a Summer character. Here is a reminder of the date:

* September 22 - End of Summer
* September 25
- Japanese and European release of Joker amiibo and Hero amiibo
- 2nd anniversary of Arena of Valor on Switch
* September 26 - 1st Japanese anniversary of Atelier Ryza

I can't tell people what they should do but it's a much healthier mindset to not hyperfixate on a few characters and see everyone else as enemies.

First off, what makes you think that "ramen" was part of the reason Min Min got into Smash? When would that ever be a deciding factor? Who looks at a character and says "they like my favorite food, therefore they should be in Smash Bros"?

Second off, regardless of Sakurai's statement, I don't think he's the type of man to consider a girl's big knockers to be a reason to put them in Smash on any level. He's not that type of guy, and that line of thought is disgusting.

Third, I'd really like to know why you think Sakurai has a "fetish" for breasts, and why that would be a deciding factor in any way, shape, or form. The way he answered the question in the article was just "**** fam, I didn't expect this question in a book about video games, I guess this is what I like".
