This is Nintendo. Being normal isn't something they really do. :p
I know. But I wish they could be normal just for once lmao

It really makes me feel like they’re just rolling over & letting Sony/Microsoft steal the spotlight for the rest of the year. Maybe they’ll come back swinging in 2021 with BOTW2, Bayo 3 & Mario Kart 9. :/

Honestly, Nintendo doesn't really reach for the same audience that Sony and Microsoft's new consoles are going after, and they haven't really had a competitive attitude towards them for years; I don't think Microsoft and Sony announcing things really affects what Nintendo's plans are.

Nintendo, love them or hate them for it, marches to the beat of their own drum. The company seems to pride themselves on not being like other companies, so I personally tend to always expect that they'll do something seemingly illogical or weird. It's just how it goes, lol.

Nintendo doesnt really play by any normal rules... which is frustrating.

Yes i know this is a first world problem, but people are starved for news. Even them just saying not to expect news for now would be great.

They should be releasing some gameplay and info about Bayo 3 sometime soon. I know they said that development has been going smoothly but dam this game is reaching meme levels of "It will come out eventually...eventually". Another year of this and it will be close to Pikmin 4 levels of memes.

Just to let you guys know, Thursday and Friday next week for us are holidays.
So if direct is really coming next week, it should get announced today or Monday, otherwise we won't have anything for the next week. I think.

I think Platinum was on too many project at the same time. They where probably working on Astral chain, Granblue fantasy, Bayonetta 3 and Babylon's fall (by the way this last one seems to have a pretty rough development; it was supposed to release in 2019, but was report to 2020 but still no news). Now Astral chain is released and Granblue has been moved to Cygames so maybe Bayonetta 3 news will come soon.

Just looked up your national holidays and I'm jealous because Marine Day sounds really really awesome. I'd love a day to celebrate the seas.

This would make sense as to why the Direct isn't on Thursday, which feels more like a Direct day than monday.

Enjoy the holidays :)

I don’t think that it‘s gonna be “Things we wanted to show at E3” if there’s a Direct Monday. Like who would shadow-drop E3 or announce it at some weird time? If there’s something, it won’t be big.

I mean... there's still tomorrow, right? It isn't out of the question to announce a Monday Direct on a Saturday.
Tho now I start to wonder why it's on a Monday to begin with.

Man I just don't want another Mini Direct, atleast not one that's shadowdropped.

I want to see a Direct just to know what games they've got planned for the Fall. I'd love to see a hint of the 7th DLC character, but to be honest, I'll live without it so long as they show me something worthwhile this season.

Quick note for those doubtful of a Smash reveal in a mini, ARMS fighter was announced in a mini just this year, so I don't think that means much.

Why cant nintendo just say, we don't plan on showing anything till september. We are sorry but due to the pandamic we have to do this.

I think just their lack of saying anything is more stressful

Guys calm down, the Animal crossing direct and Paper Mario tree house were both announced at 5 pm EST (in 6h30). It's alright to keep expectations low, but it's not over yet.

Not sure why it matters if its a full direct or a mini.

The whole point is for game announcements, sure a mini direct means they're likely not going to spend a lot of time on each reveal but as long as we actually get something.

Well, yeah, but that was a reveal of a reveal without a trailer or gameplay. It’s....not exactly your run-off-the-mill reveal.
Min Min's development was longer due to the complex nature of her gimmick, plus the guessing game was totally used as a way to keep people talking about it and promote ARMS. Unless the next fighter is just as uniquely built, I don't see why a Mini reveal is out of the question.

In fact, I'd say it being a Mini makes it even more likely that Nintendo doesn't have much to show ATM and would lean on Ultimate DLC as one of the solid things they have to show. Ultimately, though, time will tell.

Exactly, that is true, but if they just say it it will help curb everyones expectations. This isnt just smash related but gaming in general.
Aint Nintendos fault no one is thinking with their brain. Nintendo doesnt need tonsay anything to yall, Yall just need to stoo expecting things to happen and jusr wait patiently

Its funny, with as much waiting and speculating about Smash there is, information about its DLC been more reliable and transparent than most Nintendo news. Just this year there was a showcase in January, franchise reveal in March, and another showcase in June. Say what you will about the time in between, but I find myself wishing Nintendo Directs/reveals had the kind of consistency the Fighter's Passes have had.
