Not to mention that back during Smash 4's pre-release, they put Palutena's reveal trailer in the presentation for E3 2015, while Pac-Man was revealed at a smaller non-public press event. They have absolutely no issue with revealing first-party characters at E3.

Yeah, your PERSONAL hype for something is subjective, but it is an OBJECTIVE FACT that there was more positive reception and excitement surrounding every DLC character reveal other than Byleth.

I'm not saying Byleth was a bad pick, or shouldn't be in the game, or that people who like or wanted Byleth are wrong/bad/dumb. But Byleth was OBJECTIVELY not well-received by Smash reveal standards, especially compared to the likes of Joker and Banjo.

It's a FACT that the planned end of the original Ultimate DLC run was a character that was received worse by the public than every other character, and people saying "I hope that doesn't happen again" isn't a foolish opinion

It sounds like some movie or show audio. It's clearly edited. There's certainly a cut after years and before when.

Honestly though, regardless of whether FP7 is first- or third-party, I personally just feel like it's nice to go into this without much baggage. Like, before Byleth was revealed, we had this months-long game of who is it, all the pointless hopes of getting a reveal at the Game Awards, and even when the presentation was announced, we had no idea who it could be. And then for Min Min we had the three months of guessing the ARMS character, as well as debating whether or not Spirits and Assist Trophies or not deconfirm. Now there's nothing like that, and it's honestly refreshing.

. . .'Course, we don't even have a Direct confirmed yet, but eh.

I guess we're getting closer and closer to those Direct rumors becoming true, and it looks fairly close to an actual reveal happening soon too?

Aside from the ****posts, it seems we're also throwing out predictions on who's FP7 that would also fit for a double reveal at E3. My heart wants it to be between a Dynasty Warriors character and York, but both of them aren't exactly "big" names for such a thing. I have no recollection of any sort of Dynasty Warriors related content ever being shown at E3 before, and York is far too out there of a character to possibly be in Smash. Of course, there's no guarantee that every reveal at E3 has to be some huge name within the gaming community either, and it's not like this rumored Direct is going to be what was supposed to be shown off at E3. Still, I'll just not be expecting them this soon for now.

Now, what exactly would be "big" for an E3 reveal? Crash is pretty obvious for an E3 reveal cause he was so stupidly popular within the Smash community it wouldn't even be surprising if Nintendo picked up on it and said why not, but the first thing that popped in my head was Geralt because The Switcher port was revealed at last year's E3, so it'd be a big power play to reveal him a year later around the same timeframe. A different type of "big" reveal would be Billy and Jimmy from Double Dragon as they come from an overlooked series with various influences across video games, media, and the beat em up genre. Those are the main 3 (or rather 4) characters I'm sticking with for FP7.


Also what the hell is this new audio thing people are talking about now? I thought we learned how silly those kind of things are when somebody made a fake audio leak of Cortana talking to Chief about Mario.

I'd accept a BOTW rep as long as its not Link, Zelda, or Ganon. Really not high on the idea of any more new versions of characters already in the game in general

Whoever gets revealed, whenever it may be, will probably set the tone for at least the next two or three reveals. That's pretty interesting.

My personal most-wanted is hands down Travis Touchdown. I've wanted him since Brawl, and he's both a fan-favorite, a Nintendo-focused character, and with a new game coming up a nice marketing/"shill" pick. I feel like if Travis doesn't get in this pass, it's over for him. That will sting, hard, but maybe the pieces will truly line up. Finally. Please.

I think we could also be seeing a big request pop up. Crash has been in and out of the game, but it's pretty safe to say he enjoys decent worldwide popularity, Nintendo has a strong relationship with Activision (which doesn't ALWAYS bode well - see Ubisoft - but certainly doesn't hurt if SNK is any indication), and would definitely make headlines. There are of course characters like Geno or Waluigi who enjoy "core" bases as well.

I think if I had to go with an under-the-radar but still very popular third-party, my pick would for sure be Kazuma Kiryu from Yakuza. I've talked about him before with my moveset post, and while I don't think he's likely, I know he'd make a huge splash while simultaneously being out-of-left-field.

I've had a good feeling about Dante recently. I know that's hardly scientific, but things like the DMC games coming to Switch plus just good old fashioned hunches have me wondering. Besides, last time I had a hunch we got Terry, so...

I'd also like to bring up an interesting point. I know we've been discussing Sora recently, and tehponycorn has posted that great little essay breaking down all kinds of data regarding him (and we know he finally has a non-zero chance), so it made me wonder - Is Sora the next Sonic-level character in terms of Smash wants? The "impossible" pick in a traditional sense? Sure, nowadays we have all kinds of metrics for "impossible" and what it means, but something about Sora feels like that perfect storm of fan favorite, iconic, and completely unbelievable that creates a perfect Smash addition. Just something I've been thinking about.
