Until you realize that technically, each Hero only got 2 songs :/ The exact same amount that Cloud got, + some gimped versions of the songs too

The composer works for hand and hand with Square

Sugiyama is not associated with squenix at all, hence why he has his own copyright. If he acts as a roadblock for content there is literally nothing square can do about it. Technically we can't confirm that he's the reason the music is lacking but given all we know about him and the fact that DQ did great in all other areas I think it's a more than reasonable conclusion.

I fell like people / you are misinterpreting what that concern actually is

We are not saying that "Square in stingy" so we are not getting another character

That's far the case since it's pretty clear they are more comfy with shilling out for DLC then being in base

However, when we say that "Square in stingy" (which is true outside of Smash btw)

We are just acknowledging that if Square is going to do another DLC, they're a pretty good chance there are going to be some unnecessary caveats

People like to point out how better DQ has gotten then FF, so that means that the whole thing "Square in stingy" was false!

Even with this spirt event, I fell like there were some unnecessary caveats going behind the scene again, because why in the world did they do "2 for 1" characters again?

So no, I and many others don't think because of Square weird philosophies, means we are not going to get another character, far from it. What we do fear is that (especially for someone like Sora or the kid form TWEWY) will be some sorta catch with them, that will make them not feel "complete" as the other DLC fighters

If only having two songs is what it takes to get Sora in Smash, well....

Nah, disagreeing. I just combed through Donkey Konga's track lists for its three games, and saw three tracks that would be (or would've been) Galaxy-Brain tier:

The first two (in Donkey Konga 1) are kinda standard - "Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba ("I get knocked down, I get up again...") and "Busy Child" by The Crystal Method would be stealth-FIFA representation (since those two songs were used in FIFA Road to World Cup 98 before ending up in Donkey Konga 1).

But then, in Donkey Konga 2, Nintendo somehow managed to get All Star. Yes, that song by Smash Mouth. It's a massive missed opportunity that it didn't come along to Ultimate, I tell you.

Yeah, that's kinda baffling that Brawl's Main Theme didn't make it. Was Uetmatsu asking for too much? Can't imagine anything else.

Some general observations after Min Min's release:
- I think there may be another upcoming ARMS demo event, which would allow you to get an ARMS spirit that's not in the game yet by playing the ARMS demo, similar to the Tockles event for DQ11. This may be the reason Doctor coyle, Hedlock, etc. do not have spirits. I think it may be more than 1 spirit, because they seem to be playing the 'use Smash to sell ARMS' angle hard. This might also happen ahead of a prospective ARMS 2 demo

- I think Geno is pretty likely now, as much as I don't care for him. If you asked me why Squeenix is getting so many post-launch spirit events, I'd say it's because Geno's coming.

- Due to franchises with launch-content now getting more content as DLC, I think Monster Hunter is now up there with Dante (and/or Vergil) as the most likely capcom rep -- which I do think is happening.

- With the release of Vault Boy, there are now 5 AAA companies who have DLC content, paid or otherwise, in Ultimate, without having a fighter since the first fighter's pass (aforementioned squeenix, as well as Capcom, Arcsys, Ubisoft, and Bethesda -- cuphead and Sans don't count towards this IMO, due to being indy). I think there may be a DLC fighter from any or all of these companies. If I had to build a pass out of these companies, I'd say: Geno, Sol Badguy, Dante, Rayman, and Doomguy. (but that's just a theory).

EDIT: forgot Bamco and SEGA for AAA companies, so there goes that theory -- although the content that SEGA and Bamco added wasn't necessarily new, being Smash 4 carryover mii costumes, so the theory might still hold water.

i'd pop off hard for ringabel don't get me wrong, i just think he's in a less beneficial position to the other three BD characters

tiz is the JRPG everyman and 'main character'
agnes is the most prominent character in marketing materials
edea is the most prominent character with the devs

even magnolia has a greater presence than he does thanks to her focus in bravely second's marketing, but i guess ringabel can at least sit next to yew

From what I've heard, Final Fantasy (VII) in particular is kind of a licensing nightmare, and Dragon Quest has a composer whomst is a ****. I kind of doubt that Bravely Default would be as unfortunate as songs from those other series.

hard to say since there's only a few SE games like theatrhythm where bravely music has actually been licensed out

given how often REVO works with big industry projects like doing the attack on titan openings, however, he's probably not that difficult

Black Knight being an echo of Ike is a laughable idea. Black Knight's movement is consistently slow, deliberate and bulky. Just look at how he moves as an AT. Can you imagine him doing the flips for Aether or zooming around with Quick Draw?

He wouldn't even be a semiclone unless you REALLY stretch interpretation.
