We're in the half way point of June, and with people on the edge of their seats waiting for the eventual ARMS presentation announcement, there's probably a small chance that the presentation itself was postponed to next month. That Direct Mini awhile ago did state dates are subject to change due to COVID-19, and with the lost development time that happened awhile back, it does feel like a possibility.

However, it's only a small chance because it's still advertised to come out this month, and I could just be saying this a day before they actually announce a presentation tomorrow anyways. For now, I'll just believe the whole thing did get postponed to July so that I won't get stir crazy over when they'll finally reveal the presentation.

Against my better judgment , I threw together my own "Smash Roster but Snapped twice". My philosophy going into this one was limiting two per franchise, putting in enough antagonists for a potential story mode, whichever characters are usually marketed the most in either Smash trailers or general Nintendo commercials, limiting it to first-parties in case the worst happens and copyright breaks down, and smattering enough disparate characters from throughout the company's history to break up the "icons"/"promo picks".

If you want to yell at me for leaving anyone out, any characters you don't see need to be unlocked first.

Would you believe the only reason it took forever instead of a decent amount of time was "I forgot to upload 'em?". It'll still take a bit like normal. Obviously there's a lot of site work to do, and the alts are going to be lower priority.

Now imagine if we do get an alt situation and have to wait for up to 4 more images(I'm including Springtron if somehow we got a Spring Man/Ribbon Girl/Min Min/Ninjara situation. Springtron will blatantly be there either way if Spring Man is the core character). ._.

I'd like to file a formal complaint about how wrong it is to hate animation, should this claim be proven.

It's not like I use the emotes of Ultimate's newcomers terribly often anyway. Mostly when discussing my satisfaction/dissatisfaction with them or in the one character support thread I own.

Nintendo decides when the presentations/reveals/releases happen, not Sakurai.

So him being done early doesn't mean it gets announced early. It makes sense, since they look at the timing of everything of when to announce stuff. General business things.

I meant cut the characters as they are now. Mario Link and Kirby would definitely be in it but they'd be a totally new Mario and Kirby that'd have completely new moves and mechanics. That's what I meant by cutting everyone.

Like imagine if Smash wasn't made 20 years ago. What if it was made now? How would Mario's moveset work? Or Kirby's? I think they'd be very different if they were invented today. Yes I think they all need a fresh start. Mario has been the same forever. With the same idle, the same fireball, the same recovery. This would be an oppertunity to change that. Why should these characters be frozen, forever stuck in their niche? A reboot is the oppertunity to shake things up. I'd say most of these legendary icons will be coming back but they wouldn't be the ones you remember.

Honestly, I don't see why characters like Mario or Kirby would need to be reinvented. Are their movesets simpler mechanically than Smash for and Ultimate's new fighters? Sure, but not everyone needs to be have a complicated toolkit that relies on unique mechanics to standout. There's a lot of merit in having simple characters to help introduce new players to the game or to give people who prefer basic characters the option to use one. Ripping out that consistent flooring that's defined their Smash moveset since day 1 might draw a little attention to them, but it would more likely piss off a lot of people and make learning Smash more difficult.

The Smash 64/Melee/Brawl vets are (largely) still well represented in their movesets. Mario is the all-arounder you assume he would be and references most of his iconic abilities/games. Kirby's moveset does a good job of replicating the physics in his game and his various abilities to make a full moveset. Hell, I'd argue that Mario and Kirby match their home-series appearances better than some modern characters like or . Really, the most vets need nothing, a few new tools to reference a recent release like , or some animation changes like or . The only character who really needs to be reworked from the ground-up is , just to give him a little more of his personality and some moves that aren't ripped from a different character or involve becoming a ball.

I agree with you somewhat. I do think characters like Mario need another pass since they don't have the same level of attention to detail that newcomers have, but pretty much every character you could look at would fall into the exact same niche that they did before since their movesets aren't exactly bad representations of the character, just not fully realized ones.

For Mario specifically, he shouldn't be given anything that isn't straightforward (meaning no power up mechanic) since he's meant to be a beginner character. Kirby on the other hand, could benefit from receiving an overhaul not because his normals aren't good enough, but because of the extreme lack of emphasis on Copy Abilities. Like, no other character's trademark ability is it's worst move. My guess would be that this is because Copy Abilities are hard to balance with just one moveset. My solution: group the fighters into different categories, and have them give Kirby the most fitting cannon Copy Ability alongside their Neutral Special. This would essentially make Kirby into a collection of different Echo Fighters, allowing his normal moves to be balance around a smaller group of Neutral Specials rather than all 69+ at once.

I read Shulk instead of Sheik and was very confused.

Also, Mewtwo is the only Pokémon on the roster who cannot be female (it has no gender) so if you kicked off ones you liked because they're male, you don't have to. Also also, fun fact: Spiky Eared Pichu is always female.

You know, I would've gone the opposite direction (if given enough time to animate everything of course): Make Kirby able to Copy the last used B move (whether B, Side-B, Up-B or Down-B). It would buff him by making the opponent much more careful around their best B move (since Kirby also gets a 1.2x damage multiplier on the move he copied). Also, it would give him access to recovery mixups (so he doesn't just rely on Final Cutter).

I mean, to be fair the Japanese trademark isn't expired. IIRC, a new trademark was filed early this year. Trademark situations are jank like that.
