I highly doubt Nintendo would actually deny a character just because said character's company was involved with the first pass.

Still, I hold the opinion that most of the four third-parties involved with the first pass aren't very likely to receive another character. I'd say SE has the best shot, but it's not a guarantee. We've yet to have gotten that Namco and Capcom rep that everyone has been saying we'd get since the rumors of Hero.

IIRC the first Prime game achieved 3 million in sales.
But yeah Metroid is usually around 1 million units.
Via Google search it says Prime 1 sold 2.80 million and the first game about 2.73 million, but every other game hasn't broke the 2 million mark.

Namco still seems like a safe bet. I mean we haven't seen any Namco costume at all during Volume 1, where even Capcom had most of their costumes back already.

Microsoft didn't see any costumes in Banjo's release, but then again it could just be licensing issues there.

Here's my take as far as established third parties coming back, from most to least likely, (taking into consideration popularity of franchises, relationship with Nintendo, nature of the company, & the characters they already have in):

1. Capcom
2. Square Enix
3. Sega
4. Bandai-Namco
5. Sega
6. Microsoft
7. SNK

I'm disappointed.

They make a Nintendo 64-themed Spirit Event, and they left out the most iconic N64 character in the history of Nintendo...

The new event obviously hints towards Conker as the second Microsoft character to go with BK

I know people are joking, but a N64 spirit fight similar to Diskun would be great.

:ultmario::ultbanjokazooie::ultdk::ultpikachu::ultyounglink::ultfox: on Peach Castle 64 with lots of Poké Balls due to the many Pokémon games put for the system.

You think I'm joking here?

They had a whole section dedicated to the consoles. How we don't have a console spirit at all baffles me.

Huh, I just learned that Arle Nadja came from a JRPG franchise before she was in Puyo Puyo...
Yep! Arle was the protagonist of Madou Monogatari, a series of dungeon crawler JRPGs that started in 1989. The Puyo Puyo series actually started as a spin-off of Madou Monogatari. I believe the last MM game before Puyo Puyo completely took over was for the Sega Saturn (and it looks pretty darn cool).

In the Puyo games, when Arle makes a chain, you'll notice that she performs (or shouts out) spells such as Fire, Ice Storm, Diacute, Bayoen, and more. Most of the spells she uses in the Puyo games originated from the Madou series (I think the only one that didn't is Heaven Ray, which apparently came from "Waku Waku Puyo Puyo Dungeon", which I'm not too familiar with). Arle's a mage with access to tons of spells, which is why when people claim she doesn't have "moveset potential", I just assume they don't know much about the character.

Even if you were to limit her to only the spells that appeared in the Puyo games, she'd still have access to:

Fire/Fireball - Flame-based magic that can be used for offense. In most appearances, it shoots out fireballs.
Ice Storm - Ice-based magic that serves as the ice counterpart to Fireball. Often depicted as a snowflake attack.
Thunder - Electricity-based magic that serves as the electric counterpart to Fireball & Ice Storm. Depicted as a bolt of lightning.
Heaven Ray - Holy-based magic that causes Arle to be lifted in or by a beam of magic.
Jugem/Judgement - Non-elemental attack magic that is extremely powerful.
Brain Dumbed/Mind Blast - Magic that can induce stupidity. Takes many forms, and can either lower attack power, or even prevent the enemy from doing anything.
Diacute - Magic that increases the power of any spells used after it. It also usually causes Arle to stutter the name of the spell.
Revia - Magic that retaliates any damage Arle takes to whomever it was that attacked her.
Bayoen - Arle's most legendary move, and her signature ability. It rends the hearts of those nearby, allowing her to paralyze or otherwise distract them with flowers. Occasionally, it takes a more offensive form, being a collection of random objects such as planets and stars or lots of Puyo, and can even be used as a burst move.

(The descriptions were taken from the wiki for the sake of convenience.)

And there's more if we include "Waku Waku Puyo Puyo Dungeon" (since it does have Puyo Puyo in the title). Most notably Speed Down (a spell that slows a target down) and Speed Up (a spell that speeds Arle up), which I can see working rather well in Smash. And this is all without getting into whatever crazy Puyo-based gimmick she'd more than likely have. She really has the potential to be one of the most interesting fighters in Smash.

If anyone's interested in seeing her full list of spells, it's all on this page here: https://puyonexus.com/wiki/Arle_Nadja.

If it isn't already obvious, I really want Arle in Smash. Given that Puyo Puyo is Sega's second biggest franchise right now, I think there's a chance it could happen. Here's hoping, I guess.

(I spent far too long writing this post, lol.)

Nintendo 64 event? You know what that means!

He's in!

-Somewhere, :pikachu64:, :foxmelee:, :metaknight:, :4bayonetta: and :ultjoker: or :ultpalutena: shaked in fear-

I forgot who is currently considered the top tier in Ultimate.

Yeah, the Disk-kun fight is basically FDD battle, would be nice if they did more like those.

Also the OG GameBoy above the 'N' in 'N64 logo'. I still remember playing the original Pokémon R/B on my brick.

I really did like the WoL setting. I wish it was more replayable, since they did put so much love into the whole map

Wasn't it ever since Joker was revealed to only come with Persona costumes and the Sonic ones from 4, causing the Mii Costume Theory to become a thing?

Ah yes, the Original gameboy. Who doesn't have sweet, nolstalgic memories of having to hog the corner of a couch next to a lamp just to properly see the game you were playing?

I think it'll be one of the Gen 8 final evolution starters.

Kind of getting an feeling of Cinderace given the anime.
People are going to rage so hard if we get another fire starter’s final form. .

I could see Urshifu happening given the creative liberty of switching forms between Rapid Strike and Single Strike. Maybe changing specials to either be faster or more powerful depending on the form. Have it Gigantamax for its final smash and it could be different dependent on form. Similar to Giga Bowser where he goes into the background.

For people saying the DLC was finalized before Urshifu’s reveal or Sword & Shield, I think Nintendo and Sakurai probably had prior knowledge of all the installments and their future content.

I could see it happening, but I’m not holding my breath.

I will be happy if we get a Gen. VIII Pokémon at all.

Considering Sakurai picked Incineroar because he wanted a wrestler while addressing he passed on Decidueye over for it and the jab that Byleth's trailer gave towards the "aLl SoRdS sAeM!!1!!" complain, I doubt he'd care; any decently known Pokémon is a safe bet.

Then again Nintendo is picking the DLC, though even then I doubt they'd pass any of the Galar starter or base game stuff for DLC exclusives, but that's just me.

Given all the talk of an N64 Spirit, I tried to put together a spirit battle for every major Nintendo system and handheld released ala Diskin:
NES: :ultduckhunt:, :ultmegaman:, :ulticeclimbers:, :ultrob: on Duck Hunt
SNES: :ultfox:, :ultyoshi:, :ultfalcon:, :ultness: on Mute City
Game Boy: :ultkirby:, :ultkingdedede:, :ultpikachu:, :ultwario: on Dream Land GB
Nintendo 64: :ultbanjokazooie:, :ultyounglink:, :ultwolf:, :ultvillager: on Peach's Castle 64
Game Boy Advanced: :ultroy:, :ultzss:, :ultlucas:, :ulttoonlink: on Warioware
Gamecube: :ultolimar:, :ultbowserjr:, :ultike:, :ultdarksamus: on Isle Delfino
DS: :ultlucario:, :ultpeach: (Super Princess Peach), :ultpichu: (Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver), :ultmarth: (Fire Emblem Remakes) on Pictochat (Easily the hardest one to fill out. Funny how Nintendo's most successful piece of hardware has a single playable character.)
Wii: :ultshulk:, :ultwiifittrainer:, :ultbrawler:, :ultrosalina: on Town and City
3DS: :ultchrom:, :ultisabelle:, :ultgreninja:, :ultdarkpit: on 3D Land
Wii U: :ultinkling:, :ultbayonetta:, :ultalph:, :ultmario: (Builder Costume) on Mario Maker (Strange how this was easier than filling out DS.)
Switch: :ultlink:, :ulthero:, :ultbyleth:, :ultmario: (Wedding Costume) on Great Plateau
