I don’t have much aside from anecdotal evidence to support anything, so see it as “bias” if you like, but even after people telling me, “You’ve definitely heard Bad Apple before but just didn’t know it!” I indeed had never heard Bad Apple, and had never heard/seen anything Touhou related in my entire history as a gamer. Granted, I’m not a PC player so that may be part of it.

You've never seen Mcroll'd? I'm not a PC player either and learned I had heard tons of Touhou music without knowing it, though that's because I was a huge fan of YTPMVs at one point.

Which again is kind of what I was saying before. You kind of needed to be in a very specific part of the internet at a certain time to see just how ubiquitous it was, and a lot of the time it wasn't even labeled properly. A lot of people that missed that window are obviously going to just tilt their heads in confusion if you bring it up.

And since I am on this groove of "Unlikely" or "Unexpected" characters being brought up for discussion, Dead by Daylight is now making me think of the possibility of Silent Hill content in Smash. A playable Pyramid Head would absolutely blow my mind if that happened in Smash, especially since Silent Hill 2 is one of my favorite games and SH is one of my favorite franchises.

I imagine it'd be a bit too dark for Smash but of course people wanted a Resident Evil rep in Smash before the great Spirit purge happened. Also it'd be funny seeing someone like Pyramid Head acting goofy from Smash items or even Pyramid Head Kirby.

And honestly, like I said with Danganronpa, Silent Hill has the treatment of its most recognizable and iconic character being the antagonist than Harry, James, or Heather. Even people I know who don't know much about Silent Hill know who Pyramid Head is.

Just a silly idea and even more unlikely than Touhou or Dynasty Warriors but it's another "unlikely" series I had to bring up for discussion.

I've heard so many Touhou tracks and seen so many Touhou memes over the past decade. I've never played the game, but I definitely recognize certain things from the series, either the character designs or the bomb-ass soundtrack.

Definitely not unknown IMO, people just either don't know the name or the face.

Late, but despite being a big Reimu supporter idk if I have the best sense of her chances. There's pros and cons to be listed, but there's too much unknown to get a sense of her "true" chances. My gut tells me she's possible but unlikely.

I do wonder about her potential reception tho. I'd guess more indifference than hate, at least I hope so; the vitriol occasionally flung from anti-Reimu folks does surprise me in its intensity. Maybe I underestimate the anti-cutsey-anime-girl contingent even tho that assessment of Reimu's character is half accurate. But hey, that's the internet for you: strive for civility, but don't count on it.

The thing is that could be a double-edged sword as far as Reimu is concerned. Despite being the protagonist, she's far from the most popular or even visible character for people on the outskirts of the fanbase

The idea was that if you took out the zoner playstyle, roughly a third of the cast would be gone.

So...you're saying it'll be okay as long as Pyramid Head's entrance is him popping out of James's head!

The idea is that the monsters in Silent Hill are supposed to represent the person in it, so adding monsters like the sexy nurses in every game doesn't really make sense when very few of the protagonists have any traumas pertaining to sexy things or nurses. I get that and I think it's a valid criticism alongside the familiar not being as scary, but I don't think it's as valid outside the series's canon. As long as a character is expected, it should be allowed to appear in more than one game, even if the only place they can be added is in non-canonical material or spin-offs (though the latter isn't generally a thing).

There's some characters I don't want in Smash, mainly Steve and Geno(Mostly because people won't stop talking about him all the time) but if they got in I would shrug it off and call it a day.

Yet there's people who if someone like 2B, Reimu, or someone got in, they'd probably have a mental breakdown and become a nuclear bomb in human form. It's one character of likely 80+ if it were to happen and yet the mere existence of this one character or even the possibility of them getting in is enough to send some of these people in a fit of rage. At least from what I've seen.

Oh yeah, I was checking out the Switch's News section and saw they highlighted Mortal Kombat 11's DLC. I honestly wasn't expecting them to bring it up, they usually do that for other big releases (recently it was for an Elder Scrolls game and Minecraft Dungeons). Then again, I feel like I'm the only one who reads that ****. The Switch port of MK11 is the worst out of the four possible ones, but cool to see they're advertising it. scorpion confirmed??????

My only worry about Touhou's soundtrack listing if it gets in Smash is that it'd probably be safe and just stick to EOSD, PCB, and IN. There's a lot of tracks I'd love to see in Smash like Hartmans Youkai Girl, Pure Furies, Missing Power, Eternal Spring Dream, Faith is for the transient People, Kobito of the Shining Needle, The Lost Emotion, etc etc that part of me worries they'd only stick to the first three Windows games since their music is most well known.

That is a weird worry to have but it is still one.

Monkey's Paw situation, the Zelda/ARMS fighter for this Smash is Mechanica.

Once again, I will repeat this trivia: The voice actor for Mechanica is Ayumi Fujimura, the voice behind Fi (Skyward Swords/Hyrule Warriors)/Zelda (A Link Between Worlds/Smash Ultimate). So there you go, there is your Zelda rep for Fighter Pass 2. Though Fujimura is on indefinite hiatus as of April 2019, Mechanica's voice may have to be replaced or reuse if she is going to be the ARMS rep in Smash.

Also, I would love to have a another voice actor situation for this Fighter Pass as Xander Mobus is the Smash announcer/Joker.
