I Think Sora is a lock at this point. He has too many things going for him not to be in Smash.
1. Approached by nintendo
2. Ballot
3. Sales
4. Would surprise people/hype people
5. IP is S tier.

Dante, i think, isnt gonna happen.
1. Too many satanic reference to tone down for christian families. ( Same thing happened to yugioh)
2. Below nobodies/no chances like agumon and raymAn on the ballot in Europe.
3.
Was assumed a lock on fp5. Got bylth. The cycle is basically gonna repeat itself. He's the hayasuba of this month.
4. Resident evil is still not in. Bigger game.

Crash isn't as likely as people think he is.
1.Owned by activision.
2. Eh on the ballot.
3. Japan dont care
4. Shell of former self.
Sora has one big thing going against him
1. Partially owned by Disney.

Would be sick as hell is he got in, though, especially with Donald and Goofy get to be in his final smash.

The things going 'against' Dante generally aren't going against him.
1. Bayonetta literally tortures angels to death, Pokemon is in, and Christians were convinced Pokemon was the Devil in the 90's, and Dante's actual games contain pretty much 0 reference to actual Satanism --it's just fantasy demons (there's not even hell, it's just called "the underworld" or "the demon realm".
2. Ballot probably doesn't matter anymore, given 2 of the characters we got as DLC didn't even exist at the time of the Ballot.
3. Whether or not people erroneously thought he was going to be FP5 has no bearing on whether or not he's coming.
4. How 'big' a game is also has little bearing on whether or not you get in. Terry got in over Heihachi, while Tekken dwarfs KoF's sales and competitive scene. In fact, RE probably got relegated to Spirits to make room for Dante as a fighter.

The same goes for Crash
1. Activision is cooperating with Nintendo -- see all the Activision game releases on the Switch
2. Ballot don't matter
3. Japan don't have to care
4. Crash is the biggest he's been since his inception.

This seems a very arbitrary list, honestly.
All the points for Sora you're saying could be applied to Crash and Dante easily. Also, comparing Smash now when the Ballot happened doesn't make much sense, not only because we have now characters that almost no one expected (Terry, Banjo or Joker), also because fan demand and speculation has changed quite a bit since the Ballot era.

Satanic references... that wasn't one of the points I expected to see against Dante. What references are you talking about? Also, even if Dante was Satan himself, we have franchises such as Castlevania, Bayonetta and Persona in the game. If these are not a problem, DMC won't be.
Japan doesn't care about Crash? That's simply wrong, mate.

Sora's FULLY owned by Disney, Kingdom Hearts branded clothing and action figures only mentions Disney on the copyright, not to mention there's likely internal reasons as to why FF got snubbed hard in KHIII

There are several issues with this: we don't know how anyone who isn't already in the game did on the ballot (which rules out at least one point per character), any character would sell well given that it's Smash Bros. (we got a Piranha Plant as paid DLC, for crying out loud), Byleth getting in doesn't automatically rule out characters, demonic references don't seem to be an issue (Bayonetta summons demons, while Rodin is a demon running a bar called the Gates of Hell, and one of the assist trophies is the Devil), and the fourth point for Crash seems to be outright false given how well-received the remakes were.

Because reasons.
Yes. Look, the moveset potential of Sophia III and Jason, with Jason being able to hop in and out of Sophia III, as well as using all of the different moves and abilities from the games :0
Also, I don't reckon that some form of Blaster Master representation (although probably in spirit form) would be unlikely. After all, it was a fairly well received series in the NES era, and has been fairly well-received with it's new games on the Switch. Then again, a Jason Mii Gunner costume and a Sophia Spirit would be amazing to me anyways :)

I really dislike when someone calls certain character a "lock" while making some arbitrary rules as to why other characters aren't happening even though that said lock character also has the same pros and cons going for them.

Anyway, Crash Bandicoot is totally a lock /s

I enjoyed both games, though I am morbidly curious about the possibility of them putting in certain Spirits from the Switch games.

As of right now I think the only ones likely are Crash, Dante and Ryu Hayabusa. Master Chief and Steve I wouldn't put up with those three but given Nintendo's and Microsoft's relationship its not too out there to see either of them especially now Banjo is in due to said relationship.

Idk if Ryu is super likely; Ninja Gaiden is mega dead (Banjo - Kazooie was dead, too but Banjo was still iconic and had an audience outside smash speculation), and Koei Tecmo has been up to some shady **** lately.

It's not like Ninja Gaiden isn't iconic or has no presence outside of Smash (if anything, Banjo is the one people mostly talk about because Smash).

Not sure what you mean about Koei Techmo but they're already involved in Ultimate so I don't think it would be that big of an obstacle.

No clue what shady **** it is but it can't be worse than Nintendo profiting off of nazi-esque work camps meant to murder Muslims in China

Hayabusa is also one of the last so called NES icons. More the reason to possibility see him get in. Especially since as mentioned above Komi is involved with Ultimate.

Only competition he has is with Zhao from Dynasty Warriors.

Or Kasumi from DoA, if they can tone her down. Not that I'm getting my hopes up.

If Nakoruru couldn't get in over Terry. I don't see Kasumi tbh. Its either Hayabusa or Zhao. Especially the former who is pretty much the face and mascot of Koei.

hmmm.

Bringing up Layton reminds me of a question I had for some people:
Why support 'peaceful' (characters who's games have no real combat/action mechanics) characters for smash, like Phoenix, Arle, Layton, or Tom Nook? They, in and of themselves, wouldn't necessarily bring anything new to the table -- given their moveset is pretty much entirely abstract anyway a la VIllager/Isabelle/R.O.B.. Is it just for the sake of the crossover/representation? If so, why not settle for and AT/Mii costume/ Spirits?

Not 'attacking'/'****ting on'/doubting/dismissing fans of these characters, I just want to know.
Au contraire, my friend, I think characters from games without combat are very easy to make unique because of the translation of their mechanics to Smash. Look at Phoenix Wright in MvC: a match played as him goes just like a case in his games, as you slowly start building evidence and gaining momentum until you finally start pushing hard on the culprit. What other fighter could do that? With Layton, someone (probably Curious Villager Curious Villager ) had the idea of him being a fighter that relies on misdirection and the opponent having to work very hard to read his attacks, so that both fighting against him and playing as him are like solving a puzzle, a battle of the wits.

I Think Sora is a lock at this point. He has too many things going for him not to be in Smash.

Let's see

Dante 1: Bayonetta and Persona have way more and they got in
Dante 2: You don't know the ballot results
Dante 3: Fallacious
Dante 4: The bigger game doesn't always get in first

Crash 1: Activision has a good working relationship with Nintendo, DK and Bowser were in Skylanders ffs
Crash 2: You don't know the ballot results
Crash 3: Japan loves Crash
Crash 4: Crash is currently selling millions just with remakes

So some people at Reset Era are talking about this. True or not, the source is hilarious.

There was a problem fetching the tweet

Before that, they "leaked" E3 being cancelled. Not a hard guess if you ask me, but there it is.

Considering how we're still talking about the same characters as we were when the first pass was announced (minus Banjo), I don't think we can call anyone a lock.

Breath of the Wild's sequel is a given if it's coming out this year.

A Metroid game that isn't Metroid Prime 4 though? Hmm...If this is a thing I can only assume that it's a 2D game. The question is would it be a remake of Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, or something new?

A new 2D Metroid game being in the works is a rumour that keeps appearing since last E3. Afaik, Verge was the first one to mention a 2D Metroid game for the Switch. That was before E3 2019.
If you have played and 100% Samus Returns, it makes sense to expect a new game. I hope that's the case. No remakes, the 2D series needs a new entry. Remaking Super or Fusion would be a safe move, but these remakes aren't necessary.

About BotW2, I think it will release early 2021.

Nintendo is bound to have something planned for the holiday season, and whatever that is will likely be the focus of what would've been this year's E3.

I'll predict BotW 2 getting another trailer in an upcoming Direct, then it'll be the focus of whatever is scheduled for June, and finally we'll get a release date of November/December 2020.

Nintendo! It's the third week of march, time for your direct leaking!

I now despise my very existence for referencing that meme.

Never in my life have I imagined a twitter account like that claim they have insider sources, but here we are.
So a Resetera user says this yet other sources are saying the Direct is the 26th. I'm confused on what's going on right now.

Quite a few come to mind. I remember when IamShifty claimed that Ryu Hayabusa was FP4 but he was wrong. And then he claimed Hayabusa was FP5 but that also was incorrect, which I believe this claim came during the Jonesy incident.
