While I was gone, someone made an equation to predict character release dates relative to amiibo release dates, people tried to argue that Waluigi is less iconic than 2B, and now some dingus is claiming that Dixie and Isaac can't get in because we already have a Rare character and a magic swordsman (what are K. Rool and Robin then?)
So if we don't get anything in March, that would leave two and a half months until E3, and I don't expect them to reveal anything in the time in between. They could've revealed Hero around the same time Joker was released if they really wanted to, but they didn't. They decided to hold him until E3 and reveal two characters at once. early.
I'd say the difference is that Joker was already announced months prior and was being released at that time. Meanwhile, we still haven't seen the first FP2 character yet.
i feel like they won't stop at Bionis Shoulder when it comes to XCDE's new content
guest appearance by Elma, anyone? And possibly Rex/Pyra to keep up the continuity of Land of Challenges, and/or even KOS-MOS and/or T-elos. They'd do it I have a feeling they will
To show you my dream list in a Xenoblade Chronicles 1 remake:
1. Bionis Shoulder - Done
2. Expansion of Colony 9 - I love Colony 9 but wouldn't mind a few hidden areas post game along the eastern side that connects to sea level of the Bionis.
3. Reworking of the Battle System - Mostly to match the pacing of XC2. I loved the weight behind the attacks in the game.
4. Land of Challenge - You said.
5. References to Xeno - You said Elma and Rex and Pyra. I say hell yeah but make it post game.
6. Reference to PXZ2 - I also say a reference to Project X Zone 2. Fiora meeting KOS-MOS again or a side quest involving Shulk going to Wreckage Beach or Sword Valley after hearing someone see strange people there. Fiora isn't present of course. He doesn't find anyone but he does get new equipment.
7. Reference to Smash - Just a tweak of Gaur Plains to reference the stage platforms.
8. Sound Options - Seriously needed. Dual audio again even though the game has one of the best game dubs out there.
9. Redone animations - Again to reference XC2, the animations has more weight to it and would like that in the XC1 remake.
And of course 10. Plot Holes and a hint of the series future - A few major questions from XC2 remain.......
Who is Ontos and is it really Alvis?
Who were the Saviourite Rebels mentioned at the start of Chapter 10?
Is Xenoblade X an alternative timeline?
Will there be an in-universe explanation of how or why Zanza retained his half or will he be given a redesign?
And finally to wonder, will all voice actors for both Japanese and English come back if they are redoing lines? Most likely Adam Howden will come back as Shulk, it was kinda his breakout role for him in gaming. And Carina Reeves will likely come back as Fiora given she did for XC2 but what about the others such as Reyn (I think) who was reported to never want to do voice acting for games again?
I'll crosspost this to the Elma support thread maybe but to the likes of Rie Sonomura
and my other Xeno fans, what do you all think of my thoughts?

It's a critically acclaimed game with a wider potential audience alongside the fact we know for a fact content that got scrapped in the original is coming back. Basically, a chance for Xenoblade's fandom to grow without the rather controversial X or 2. Although I am a tad concerned about Melia as her VA will likely be replaced due to being HUGE right now

Cut content coming back (Which I don’t know how much there was)
Chance for fandom to grow.
Sorry, but I really don’t see why I should spend $60 on this so far. Like I said, I don’t know why this is being branded as a full on remake, when it looks more like a remaster to me.
I'm currently playing through the game too and enjoying it MUCH more than Octopath Traveler.
I know that she's a bit of a "meme" around these parts thanks to Gentlepanda
and Tiz or Agnes would probably be their first choice if Bravely ever got a rep, but I kinda want Edea in Smash now, NGL.

If they reference PXZ2 that would leave behind some incredibly awesome implications involving the world's of Xenoblade and Fire emblem being connected.

You don't have to buy it, you know. You asked why people were excited for it and it was explained to you. There is no need to push back and tell people they shouldn't be excited.

I mean, people bought Twilight Princess on the Wii U so it's the same principle, although we don't know how much new content is getting in due to the announcement trailer being all we know. A friend of mine bought his Switch solely because of this game, he loves the characters and story, so being able to see them without the graphics looking garbage alongside being able to re-experience one of his favourite games is well worth it for him. I don't know if you played the original or not, but it's basically why people bought updated rereleases or remasters of any game, like TLOU and ****

^^^ Just a friendly reminder this is the same user who froths at the mouth whenever anyone not named Geno, Isaac, Waluigi, Bandana Dee, Shantal, or any other of his MW gets in, and bashes supporters of Joker (even calling all of them "emo"), Hero, Terry, and Byleth whenever he gets the chance. Also complains that "SAKURAI DOESN'T LISTEN TO THE FANS!!!!!!!" even though one quick look at Ultimates roster suggests otherwise.
I'd tell you to go cry about this in the Geno hugbox so the thread doesn't get derailed, but you rage quit that thread awhile back because even they got sick of your posts, lol.
What the hell? Joker is my favorite character, I literally bought the Fighters Pass because Joker got revealed. I never called anyone emo, where the hell are you getting any of this? Where the hell am I bashing Terry supports? If you're going to call me out on stuff then please call me out of the stuff I actually said.

It's an easy mistake to make when both you and the guy who actually said these things have profile pictures of Sonic characters people in the fandom don't like
Can't speak for everybody else, but I've always wanted to play Xenoblade Chronicles 1 without emulating it. However, I don't own a Wii or New 3ds, so this is the best alternative.
Given how Xeno fans hype it up as the best of the series, I'm very curious to see how it stacks up to Xenoblade 2--which I enjoyed despite all of its flaws.

Well if you haven't bought the game already then I'd say that justifies the price tag. It's a really good game, and a big one at that. If you already have the game in some way then it's really just up to you.
Also, redoing the visuals of a game of that scope cannot be a cheap endeavor.
If (big if) they made an Earthbound collection I would probably expect to see an Earthbound character in the pass. You bet they'd want to hype it up as much as possible.

It does help that the original Xenoblade and the 3DS port are both pretty hard to come by nowadays. So if people are interested in Xenoblade thanks to X2 and Smash they have a chance to play the original now.

Pretty much. I only got into the series recently, so this is a great way for me to play catch-up. It's like how some people got hype FF 7 or 9 got ported over to the Switch. It's a great way to try the games out for the first time.

I mean, if you paid attention to gaming outside of Nintendo in 2017, 2B and Nier Automata were incredibly hot topics that have remained in the gaming consciousness since then, and Nier Automata continues to cross over with big IPs and make a big splash, and it continues to be considered one of the top games of this generation.
Now while that doesn't mean you have to know 2B or Nier Automata personally, there is an element that people are actively playing down about a breakthrough hit that sold 5 million copies and established a formerly very niche Japanese developer as a mainstream name. Again, it's fine to not know that, but I've also seen people practically revel in the fact that they "DIDN'T EVEN KNOW 2B UNTIL SMASH SPECULATION" and thus use that to bludgeon down her chances and discussion regarding her. The individuals who seem to take their lack of knowledge of certain characters as a point of pride tend to lead to these more extreme reactions, and let's face it, there are people in the Smash fan base who didn't know the likes of incredibly popular third parties until they showed up in Smash. You only have to take a step back to Dragon Quest to realize how fundamentally out of touch some Smash fans can be with recognizing globally popular series (and this was a popular series that had massive ties with Nintendo too). Lack of knowledge is not an issue, but I've rarely seen "I didn't know who this character was until Smash" positioned in genuine good faith.
The people that are calling 2B or Hero literal whose have to be teenagers that only grew up with Nintendo consoles. Like its baffling how they seem to ignore big popular Japanese series that don't have association with Nintendo hardware, or in the case of Dragon Quest has by far more association and importances with Nintendo then say Minecraft, Doom, Halo, Crash, Spyro, Kingdom Hearts etc ever had. Yet them calling Hero a literal who shows how much they lack any knowledge.
People didn't think Joker & Terry were possible. All of the fans didn't they possible. I wanted Joker and thought he was never going to happen. There's just a lot of characters that don't seem possible.
Take a shot of alcohol every time people use that as a reason against a possible character inclusion or as a response to any new characters getting in.
It's one of the more annoying parts of the Smash fandom. You try to educate people why a character has a better chance than initially given and people go in and say "Literally who" or more recently, "Too niche" and call it a day. It's annoying.
Honestly half the discussion a lot of the time feels like people explaining why their particular evidence and rules for a future character are legitimate while the ones for someone else's are flimsy and arbitrary.
Am I being naive in thinking the later it takes for a general direct to happen, the more likely a FP6 reveal might happen? Something so quick after Byleth might have been too soon in expecting a character given the work needed, but given that its now not out of the question for a presentation to not come out till March, is it that out there that to think that a fighter could be ready to show off by then?

I don't think it's too unreasonable for someone to say they don't recognize 2B or Luminary. Just depends on how much you cared about video games growing up. I remember a lot of kids only having 8 or 9 video games for a console. That's all they really wanted, and since they had other hobbies like basketball and hanging out with neighborhood friends, there was never a deep interest in looking for new games they might like.
P5 Royal's new content is at the end, so if you already played P5 before, you've already experienced most of it, which while that's also true of Xenoblade, Persona 5 and P5R are both available on the same system.
Nah XB2 was meant to be for people who prefered the first game over X but they forgot XB1's tone wasn't a typical harem anime and they forgot people hate gacha mechanics
Joker, I admit I didn’t know, but I knew about P5.
Hero, you have to really try to look the other way to legit not know Dragon Quest (/Warrior back on the NES).
Banjo, you have to not like games to not know who Banjo is.
Terry, if you hang around fighting game circles for a Bit, Terry and KOF aren’t hard to miss.. even taking the long route of Capcom crossovers until you get to VS SNK.
And Byleth, it’s Fire Emblem. I doubt any Smash owner doesn’t know what FE is.

Honestly, someone could tell me they didn't recognize any one of the five DLC characters and I wouldn't be surprised. None of them are at a level where you should just be universally expected to recognize them prior to their announcement for Smash.
Now I have a hard time believing someone wouldn't recognize any of the DLC characters, but two or three wouldn't surprise me.
My point was that Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal are both on the PS4 meaning you might as well get the original for a discounted price as from what I hear, the new content isn't worth it, especially as the DLC bundle is more expensive than the DLC individually last I checked
