: trailer was funny, especially when the dog and duck broke the 4th wall and nearly crapped themselves due to random words showing up out of nowhere

No offense but I honestly don't know how people can't tell the difference between Marth, Chrom or Ike. Seriously.

I mean FE characters in Smash share an aesthetic and all that and I guess that being realistic humans doesn't help at all for people who are unfamiliar with the characters, but I don't know...

I wasn't even into FE when Brawl came out and I never knew anyone who had trouble differentiating the big burly broadsword user and the decidedly opposite.

My unpopular opinion: None of the "big names" thrown around here interest me: not dante, sora, 2b, phoenix wright, heihachi (although this one has a different reason), master chief, a dark souls, elder scroll character... The closest to a big name I like is probably Crash (Doomguy I'm mostly OK with, though) and Hayabusa.

There are a few names from games I never played that are mentioned here that do have my interest: Arle, Kiryu, Professor Layton (someone said SWORDFIGHTER so I'm in ), Lloyd... there should be a few more but I can't remember right now.

And I'm not expecting spirits upgrades but I'm wouldn't dscard it either.



Any pass with either Kazuya or Jin is an instant 6/6 to me (although the rest is fine too)

For character that are already assist trophies, Nightmare could be a very cool boss. Of course he would need to be very different from his assist trophies but they could pretty much used the same move he use in Kirby. For a new I would say DJ octavio from Splatoon, I'm surprised it didn't even happen. Just like Nightmare you could pretty much copy the move he use in Splatoon.

I think it would have gone better than THIS.

They should have revealed Byleth at E3 instead of Hero, because Banjo is the character that would have done the most to diffuse FE outrage. Hero should have been FP4, and the first Pass should have ended with Terry.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Castlevania music, but the new remixes are not better than the ones Konami already made for Judgement, Harmony of Despair and Castlevania: The Arcade. Those OSTs are unbelievable, and the ones where those songs appear directly in Smash are some of the best in the game.

However, some of the Mega Man remixes are straight up amazing. That Wood Man theme, jesus...

I think that Kraid from Metroid and a Metal Gear could be very cool as well.

I think leakers can have some part of the discussion. I think there’s an inherent clout chasing aspect to it. But Vergeben definitely has had correct information in the past. They just don’t have that same credibility with DLC.

More or less, while I wouldn’t put a ton of stock in what leakers say anymore, I would certainly listen to Verge more than I would listen to Sabi when it comes to Smash. Other than that? They may very well be credible.

Yeah, I still don't understand Verge. He was correct on all the base stuff. And his rumor about Minecraft made me think with Microsoft's involvement, B&K could happen--and they did, but it was done after his leak, and Minecraft or Microsoft stuff outside of B&K and Cuphead didn't happen. Despite those datamined Rare spirits that went no where (so far). It's all confusing to me still.

While it was misread, to answer that question genuinely... As a kid I genuinely could not tell the difference between all the human characters, when there's all these colorful, different shaped/designed characters all around. Characters like Mario and Luigi are more differentiable because they're more cartoonish and exaggerated. Even Shulk, who I now respect their design, just looked like another "human character." Snake, while a human, was identifiable because of how unique he was in being this mature, modern military guy, but hung out with these colorful characters and had cartoonish elements to his actions. It's all about expectations, and how new information is incorporated.

While Shulk's design grew on me as I got older, unfortunately all the FE designs still come off to me as uninspired and same-y medieval swordsmen design, where often the non-protagonists look more interesting than the ones in Smash. The fact three out of eight characters have blue hair (and Byleth's Smash design looks more blue-ish than green-ish) doesn't help that. People can tell the difference if they care to look close enough--but there's no reason to if you're not a fan of that series. Now I have been able to tell the differences, but only because I look at, share, and manipulate Smash character art a lot... prior to that, yeah they looked like "blue haired anime swordsmen." The fact one's muscular and one's slender is a minuscule difference compared to the more basic, superficial elements. Even Marth vs Lucina--obviously they're a different gender, but to a non-fan the question is, "Out of all the characters, why do they all have to have the same superficial appearances?" JustJesss did a good video on that topic just the other day.

I have the same bias against another fire/water type Pokemon being in--there's so much variety to choose from (in both FE and Pokemon), but the ones that get in Smash, on a superficial level, look the same, or have the same basic attributes. But, it is what it is, and I respect the fans of FE to get the characters they want in--not mine, since, I'm not the audience for those characters.

Question: if you had to have another character be a dual Boss & Assist Trophy like Rathalos, who’d you pick?

Black Knight’s currently an AT, but I would have liked for him to be a Boss in addition. Also, Sephiroth was the dream for another dual boss/AT. Sadly he became neither because Square Enix...
