Best chance for western characters like the Chief is E3. Japanese don't follow all the news and the coverage from E3 that much.
I mean they could reveal one of these at a random direct but it seems very unlikely to me.

Also, I would say that Chief has something that other western characters don't have: he's the mascot of Xbox, plus being a huge gaming icon. If any western character with low popularity in Japan it's gonna make it I think that Sakurai would go for him. If Microsoft allows him, of course.
I mean, if I was Sakurai and I could add ****ing Master Chief I'd do it. Specially if he wants to keep expanding Ultimate as the biggest crossover. Master Chief is one of the few characters that would elevate Ultimate to another level as a crossover.

I don't imagine this is true. I mean I don't doubt mainstream American media pays more attention to E3 than the mainstream Japanese media, because it is an American event, but I assume all the gaming-specific outlets, and a wide array of fans pay attention to E3, no matter their nationality.

If we're talking favorite character trailers, Mega Man, Ridley, Ken and Terry are probably my favorites. It does make me wish someone like Ryu got a CGI trailer but it's understandable.

Why do I feel like the only Lloyd supporter in the entire Smash community? I swear, there's so many posts on Rate Their Chances where he's at a 50% or under want rate, which is really sad to see.

His inclusion would just be so special to me, I just love his personality and design so much, hos moves are near and fighting with two swords is not only just awesome, but would set him apart from every other swordsman in Smash.

Like is there anyone out there who genuinely wants him in other than me? This reminds me almost of pre launch, when I felt like I was the only Incineroar supporter out there.

Sorry for all the venting, but it just really makes me upset when I feel alone in supporting a character, and everyone else is always like "eh, so and so would be better". It would just be nice to know more people than just me really like and support this character.

Hero made sense to reveal at E3 because they also had a big western fan favorite at the end with Banjo & Kazooie.

Hero by himself would of been a pretty poor and confusing reveal for E3, I think.

But if the argument is that Japanese viewers tune out of E3, putting him in the show at all is questionable, regardless of who else there is.

The answer, I think, is that 1) Nintendo doesn't care about matching reveals to regional shows as much as people think, and 2) despite that, Japanese people do indeed watch E3. Probably in notable numbers.

However, I do think that Nintendo does care about dropping some Smash "megaton" every year that Smash is actually at E3, and on that basis, I think Chief would work well. Because, for most of the world, it would be quite the megaton.

Lloyd's a weird character in that his popularity ebbs and flows in the core fanbase. He's one of the go to picks for Namco, but depending on who the flavor of the week character is his popularity wanes. In this case, Heihachi's made a resurgence for some reason, so Lloyd's thrown to the side. Same thing happened with Nightmare and KOS-MOS.

If it means anything, I still stand by my essay on Lloyd. I'd be excited at his inclusion, and I think he's pretty likely for Fighters Pass 2.

Anyways, most of the ratings were 30% or above. Which is actually not bad for a newcomer. And his rating is higher than average compared to most of the characters rated for DLC.

I've ben co-oping Vesperia with a friend and oh my god I would KILL for a Tales of character, be it Yuri, Lloyd, or otherwise.

I feel there is no character who would shut up the "anime swordsman" complaint more than a Tales character. They're literally just fighting game characters parading in an RPG, it's great.

I feel there is no character who would shut up the "anime swordsman" complaint more than a Tales character. They're literally just fighting game characters parading in an RPG, it's great.

EDIT: I always found the argument to be pretty cruddy. Just because you have a general idea of what their attacks are gonna be doesn't mean the experience of playing them isn't going to be 1 to 1 between Super Smash Bros. and their home game. They can still bring interesting things to the table.

I was always under the impression that Lloyd was a pretty popular dude. At least for Smash.

Granted, I'm more so on the Tekken side of things, but I'm sure Lloyd's cool in his own right.

I truly understand how you feel, if all else fails you can always go to his support thread but if the thread's looking dry, and you feel alone in your choice, when you feel like that, just always remember, that there are those who do want/support the same character as you.

Even though they may not be as vocal about it as you are, doesn't mean that they want/care about that character any less.

Although I like Yuri just a little better, I personally wouldn't mind having Lloyd in Smash instead since I'm quite fond of sword characters. Having a character with two blades would be great, at least I wouldn't have to equip Lucina, and Roy with any sword items any more lol (who am I kidding I definitely will still).

Any tales game is basically like this, haha. Versperia is considered the last "Classic style" Tale of game to boot, games after this are even more freeform and nutty.

Granted you have to play the game quite a bit to get to the point where you can be doing cancels into Ftatal Strikes into overdrive cancels into all this other stuff, but still, the journey is just as fun.

Sakurai explicitly said Fighter 6 would take a while to be revealed. By that he probably meant longer than the traditional schedule of reveals for FP1 (2-3 months).

Furthermore, why the hell would he say something like that only to reveal another character 1 or 2 months after Byleth? It reeks of Sakurai saying "the reveals of new characters are going to be slowing down" and fans still believing that he'd reveal all 7 of the Grinch leak characters in one presentation.

I still think that they won't wait that long to reveal the first fighter of Season 2 considering Byleth left a pretty bad taste in peoples' mouths and it probably wouldn't be a good idea to let that fester for too long
