Easy. Instead of having outlined colors, like with details, it becomes as pure color(but stays the same hue as normal) like in Smash 64.

So Metal Metal Mario does look different from Metal Mario and Mario turned Metal.

But yes, this alone is why I don't see it being realistic anyway. I'd further say a Metal Box Spirit has a better chance(which would keep you Metal throughout the match, outside of KO'd, maybe?), but start you at a small disadvantage for having more weight, defense, and power naturally due to being actually Metal. Currently you can start off as Metal, but it's a short time, so there's no penalties beyond the natural fact you have more weight and lose jump height.

It'd be fun if Mario was referred to as Metal Mario on the character select screen if the Metal rule is selected in Special Smash.

Needs to be done with Metal Sonic too. And Pink Gold Peach. And Silver Luigi. Dr. Mario didn't have a unique title but was called Metal Mario in Dr. Mario 64, so that doesn't help.

They could also just say Metal for any character who had a Metal form at any point in their own games. Hero arguably counts since they can go Metal.

...TFW we won't be able to call out Metal Slime like that. D:

Well there's nothing we can do about it now so let's just focus on lighter topics. Besides, if it absolutely needs to be done it needs to be done elsewhere. This thread is specialized for DLC speculation and a lot of us would like to keep it that way.

Therefore, any opinion of the news story can be seen as political.

This can sometimes tends toward ridiculousness, but that’s just how it usually is when discussing news stories on the Internet.

Nintendo can't even juggle all its big IPs, and seems hesitant to outsource too many at a time.

A lot of people scoff when someone raises Nintendo investing in additional developers, saying how they don't need to, and while they're right in that Nintendo doesn't need to, it'd probably help in situations like this, where new eyes can bring a fresh angle to a series Nintendo either seems stumped on, or may not prioritize highly themselves.

Though Nintendo still needs to be willing to bankroll the development regardless, and maybe one like StarTropics is just too hard a sell.

I don't think that has stopped Nintendo from doing a direct. I think it is the fact that most of Nintendo Japan and America was likely out of office last week and just got back into work and are dealing with the back to work slam. This is what is going on at my office. Chances are they haven't had time to put together the direct.

I don't trust the leakers on this one. I think Sakurai finally has them all fooled. No one can agree on anything. (Of course by sure luck, one of them will have to be right since nearly everyone has been leaked so far).

Oh man, those sounds are bringing back some dear childhood memories. Also, Ganondorf hilariously sounds like he's going "DORIYAH!", and I think Olimar's would've been better with the "Olimar!" soundclip from Pikmin 2.

If Sakurai wanted another series where he could just go ham and include 50 or more music tracks again, the Ace Attorney series would be perfect for that, even if some of them like Turnabout Sisters or The Fragrance of Dark Coffee would have to be remixed to be more "fighting game appropriate".

At the very least, all the Objection! and Pursuit themes would have to be mandatory. Smash remixes of the latter would be especially godlike.

Taiko no Tatsujin and Yo-kai Watch are two very different series owned by two different companies...

Jibanyan did show up in a Taiko no Tatsujin adventure game along with other series like Kirby, Touhou, Phoenix Wright and more. Maybe that's why they got confused.

I'd say it's more likely he isn't saying anything due to his source not letting him say anything or not giving him any information useful enough to say. He tries to pick and choose his battles. At least has for a while now. He used to be pretty bleh, but now he is more careful on his leaks, especially after trusting a very bad source for a Nintendo direct. It doesn't help that the current Smash source was through a third person, making it a bad game of telephone. He might be waiting to have way more clear information too. It could be as simple as them announcing when the direct is, since his information could be outdated, or for a specific date, but he's unsure of the source.

It's generally complicated like that.
