Oh yeah

Forgot about that somehow

In that case, gimme Samus directly interacting with either Luigi or Captain Falcon.
Samus interacting with the DQ8 Hero canonically would be the best thing ever in my life.

I'm kinda surprised they didn't bring Smash Run back. It basically took all the enjoyable parts of Subspace and put it in a small, contained arena where you could just wallop on baddies for a bit.
The best part of Smash Run was being able to fight Nintendo enemies as Nintendo characters. That IS why we play crossovers, no? Being able to set specific conditions (ie end minigame, enemy types, etc) would've made it even better.
I'm actually surprised Smash Run didn't come back. It was loads of fun to play - it gave us the single-player platformy thing we likes from Subspace but changed it up just enough to make it interesting. Definitely made me think Smash43DS was the superior version. Now Smash Tour on the other hand can stay dead.

But I will say there are a few fun games to play in Smash mode that make things fun. I like to do themed battles, like Princess FFA, or team good guys vs. bad guys. Definitely been having a lot of fun with the Smashdown and stock tag team modes as well.

I missed the part where Smash Run had cutscenes.

I know they were onscreen together, but did they actually team up together for a stage and have cutscenes together like Mario and Pit did?
There was the whole boss fight against Meta Ridley above the Blue Falcon I think.

Alright, I've chosen the winners from the game I made the other day. Thanks for playing! This is a long list, but I will try my hardest to make it work. Give me a week or two (this is enough characters for another fighting game!), and I'll post all of the movesets at once, but if y'all want, I can do it little by little. Chances are, the Smash reveal will come out before I'm finished, so my hard work is going to get buried under the hype, but I'll manage lol. Anyways, here are the characters I've chosen:

Don-chan, Metal Slug, 1-3 League of Legend characters, 2-4 Pokemon that were mentioned, Pitfall Harry, Hamtaro, Duna Nichs, Axel Stone and/or Blaze Fielding, Vincent Brooks (Catherine), Ragna the Bloodedge, Kunio, Akari/Ryota Hayami, Baba is You, Michael Wilson (Metal Wolf Chaos), Professor Layton, Miku Hatsune, Tony Hawk, Mike Tyson, Frogger, Sergeant Cortez, Alley Cat, Lemmings, Duster (Mother 3), Morshu, Classic Ganon, a Fire Emblem character that uses a gun, Officer Howard (Astral Chain), York (Deadly Premonition), and Space Invader.

Chances are, I'm going to post one for Sora, Travis Touchdown, Raiden, Adol, Phoenix Wright, and Arle anyway, so don't worry about them. Other characters like Mona and Bill Rizer are super cool concepts I'll probably revisit somewhere down the line.

I'm going to provide as many visual references as possible. I'm going to make every character unique (both amongst themselves and the existing roster), and introduce several new concepts that haven't been explored in Smash yet. Even though this is all hypothetical, I'm going to make it balanced and explain how it'd work as if it were real. It'll be a learning experience and an opportunity to hype up several underrated and/or unorthodox characters within the fandom. I'm not super familiar with every single character listed above, but trust me when I say that I do my research. I mean... I did it with Circus Charlie.
This sounds awesome. I really like the selection too, a lot of interesting and unusual picks along with a few lower key favorites like the Howard twins. I think posting them little by little would be a great way to keep discussion flowing without overwhelming anyone with movesets.

I don't think we will ever see something like SSE in the future because of how big the roster is, but there's some interaction that I really wanted to see:

Inkling and Snake: both comes from shooter and both used a lot of weapon. I imagine Snake seeing Inkling weapon and he say "war... War as change"

Wolf and Duck hunt: Wolf team up with Duck hunt to hunt Fox and Falco

Wii fit trainer and Little mac: I imagine a small sub-story where Little mac realize that he's not strong enough to win the battle with the other hero so he quit Doc Louis for Wii fit trainer

everyone got hyped from the intro trailer cause zelda had ****ing voice lines

and then they immediately ruined it by having no other character interaction ever again and just have the OC villains fight it out while everyone stares

Holy s***, you weren't joking when you said my vote didn't count. :mad: Admit it, Pepsiman was a good suggestion!

I wonder if it would be more practical for them to design a Smash roguelike mode, so that random generation would help pad out and add replayability to something that would otherwise take ages to create (given that it would be a side feature, after all.)

There couldn’t be cutscenes for this sort of thing, but you could still kind of RP your way through it since it’d have more of a defined structure in terms of being an adventure.

I think the biggest with a sse2 is the fact that there are a ton more series in smash now than there were back then so it would be harder to see these characters from drastically different settings interacting compared to the predominantly cartoony characters of brawl.
Eh. Not really. Metroid (and I suppose Wii Fit) is really the only series involved that isn't campy in any sort of capacity. Even then the Wii Fit Trainer is a monochromatic humanoid and Samus deals with crazy crap (as in things that would be impossible in real life) all the time, so it wouldn't much of a stretch for them to be in business as usual

Agree, imagine a running gag with Bayo trying to kill Pit so many times. (same with Dark Pit.)
Oh no, not for that my innocent child.

Something else that a crevice of the internet craves.

If we did get a story mode for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, I'd like to see it try to run with the premise of "What if every franchise's story happened at once?". You'd get to see cool story arcs like:
  • A combination of Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Fire Emblem: Binding Blade, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Yoshi's Island.
    • :ultmarth::ultroy::ultyounglink::ultyoshi:
  • A combination of Final Fantasy VII, Mega Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, and the non spoilery parts of Xenoblade Chronicles.
    • :ultcloud::ultmegaman::ultsonic::ultshulk:EDIT: :ultmewtwo:?
  • A tournament arc where (spoiler alert) M. Bison was the bad guy all along.
    • :ultincineroar::ultlittlemac::ultbrawler::ultgunner::ultswordfighter::ultryu::ultken::ultpokemontrainer::ult_terry::ultwiifittrainer:
I'd also like to see scenes that have clever use of their characters, like Shulk using Monado Speed to give Sonic a Quicksilver moment, or Jigglypuff filling in for Asura when Corrin has his draconic temper tantrum.

Isabelle with Marth.

There was a problem fetching the tweet
Since everyone gets their one "This picture posted for fun is secretly the meaning behind a new fighter" pick, I choose to believe this is meant to be Amaterasu with Issun being a lil' pain in the neck.

You can all thank me, your messiah, when Ammy makes it into Smash sometime before the year 2100.

Bro, it's been 4 months since our last Smash character announcement. That's legit wild.

I mean sure it's not been that long since release, just at 2 months, even still... I can feel it coming. Any day now.

TBH I love Ultimate's single player. Classic mode and WoL are amazingly fun to play through, but that's just me. Heck, I just have fun treating Smash as an arcade experience and just fight CPUs for an hour or two here and there.
I adore spending a couple hours a week just battling CPUs. It's legitimately one of my favorite ways to play Smash outside of couch co-op and classic mode runs.

I'm kinda surprised they didn't bring Smash Run back. It basically took all the enjoyable parts of Subspace and put it in a small, contained arena where you could just wallop on baddies for a bit.

As cool as Smash Run was, I imagine that it just wasn't very viable to bring back that mode when it leaned heavily on other 3DS assets and took the vast majority of the 3DS' production time to produce. We barely got Ultimate as it is today and they clearly had to push a couple of things back to post launch to get it done, so I just don't see how Smash Run would have ever been a viable goal to reach when all of those assets in HD and the just a whole new mode with different mechanics and a huge map needing to be developed largely from the ground up for Ultimate.

Now, if Sakurai wants to develop a Smash Run for Ultimate as DLC for like $20 as a big expansion pack type thing, I certainly wouldn't complain. If Sakurai is down to keep developing Smash for a little while, I'd love to see him go for more modes and stages to keep expanding Smash. I mean, characters are great, but Coin Battle, Boss Battles, Master Hand Smash, a user created way to make custom Target Smashes with the Stage Builder, etc. are all really great things we could see with Ultimate too to make it even more special and complete of a game. I'm all for DLC modes and stages, even if that means I have to wait longer for characters or even maybe give a couple up to be honest lol.
