To those people questioning Verge's stuff, here's that post I mentioned earlier.

He’s been piggy-backing for all of the DLC. Datamining leaked Hero, a ResetEra mod leaked Banjo, & Nintendo UK leaked SNK (& Terry was the most obvious pick). Once again, Vergeben is not a reliable source.

I should clarify, Verge's source has a source that knows. Verge is going through a middle man. We do not know what response the middle man received, but the implication is Verge asked the middle man which the middle man asked and probably got ignored by their source (just like Sabi's source has ignored KOS-MOS). This is likely what prompted the "not sure", the lack of an actual answer.

For clarity, the latter part of the above is mere interpretation and not a straight up fact.

So the middle man only got conveniently ignored for one character, which so happened to be during the time of a fake leak? Despite getting answers for countless other characters?


Yeah, totally not suspicious at all.


(And Sabi clarified that they didn’t get an answer because they didn’t press like they normally do.)

Vergeben literally said Erdrick/Luminary in a leaked PM back at the beginning of November of Last year. Brave wasn't Datamined until December 5th and that wasn't public information until early January 2019. There's absolutely no way for Verge to piggy back off the data mine.

Brave still isn't even playable, he seems to have been replaced with Hero. It's the one blemish on Nintendo's otherwise spotless leak track record.

To clear things up concerning confusion about Verge and his sources:

He is playing telephone essentially. He has a source that has a source, I will refer to his source as "1" and his source's source as "2". Verge asks 1 for information regarding Smash, and 1 talks to 2 and then relays it back to Verge. Now 1 does NOT know who FP5 is, which is why it isn't contradictory that they don't know whether it is KOS-MOS. 2 DOES know who FP5 is but has not shared that information. As for why 1 said no Namco but not no KOS-MOS? I don't know. It's likely just a case where they want to specifically ask 2 about it. Verge has said that 1 has said "not sure" many times over the weeks of disconfirmations and then goes to ask 2 about that specific character after.

Believe Verge or not (I'm not entirely trusting him), but I thought everyone should know the situation.

If 1 already knew it was “no Namco”, without a doubt, then there was absolutely no reason to say “not sure”, regardless if they asked 2 or not.

The heroes were supposed to be part of the base game but were held off for DLC because the music rights were a pain to get a hold off. So it's possible that Verg knew about them from that.

The simple explanation for why the Kosmos mod got taken down is because it's literally using XB2 assets that Nintendo owns. Combined with her being a licensed character that another company owns and it seems like the safe move is to protect both their own assets and any lent properties by taking down a video of it. It's not like video takedowns are consistent; there's uploads of World of Light pre-release gameplay that didn't get purged, for instance.

Sakurai himself said as much, I believe during a live presentation (not the one where he demoed Hero's moves) or a famitsu column.

Newsflash: people can want characters in Smash without caring about them getting over the characters you want in Smash.

Nobody's trampling you by having their own hopes for what happens in a videogame.

B-but my Smash character wants are clearly more important than your wants, why don't you consider how this affects me?

The only characters I might feel some kind of empathy towards are Geno and Isaac, but the existence of the post-fighter's pass really renders the point moot, as they have plenty more chances left to get in.

Well there is altered quite a few female characters already in Smash Bros Ultimate, but more female characters is never a bad thing. Plus good chance that a female character would be added into the next wave of DLC
