Predominantly anime for me.

3. Ruby Rose (RWBY) - BlazBlue made me realise how amazing it would be to see her as a Smash Bros character. Music selection is the other reason. One of the best soundtracks out of any media I have encountered.
4. Aqua, Kazuma, Darkness and (Best anime character) Megumin (Konosuba). All as a joke party system together.
5. Lego Indiana Jones cause why not.

I see two scenarios both of which involve a January/February direct.

One in which the 5th character is revealed at the end of the Direct and another where the 5th character is shown off first and it ends on the fist post pass character been shown.

Complete with the Ice Rod, Fire Rod, Tornado Rod, Hammer, Pegasus Boots, and a Spin Attack that allows you to move while charging? It's about time!

It didn't happen, but I actually really wanted to see ALBW or ALttP Link in Ultimate.

Bruh...

I would kill for this to be the default Link in whatever Smash reboot happens after Ultimate. And I think it would work best because you could incorporate elements from adult Link and the younger Link's in to one character.

1. Scrooge McDuck (DuckTales) - NES icon, great music, plus I just really like DuckTales.

2. James Bond (GoldenEye 007) - Specifically based on his N64 look and arsenal, with other Bonds as alts.

3. Geralt of Rivia (The Witcher) - Not a personal pick but I can't deny the popularity and impact of the Witcher games and the music they'd bring to the table. Plus I'd get to use my Witcher voice while playing to annoy my friends constantly.

4. Hatsune Miku (Project Diva) - She's an icon, would come with tons of amazing music, and is one of the top rhythm game reps in my eyes. I'd love to see it.

5. Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece) - This is just my personal bias pick. I love One Piece. He's always been fun to play in the Pirate Warriors games and in his other arena battlers. He's a great character. I'd have fun with it.

I think keeping it to ones with impact on gaming with one bias pick makes sense.

That just means we'll get Ultra Super Smash Bros Ultimate as the definitive edition of Smash Ultimate. And then later Championship edition.

Nintendo not choosing to continue the series without Sakurai is a (small) possibility but there's zero reason for a reboot.

I mean there's not much farther left to go after Ultimate anyways. Anything released after this game is going to be a step down.

That's the route I'd rather have it go. Keep porting Ultimate with constant updates and additions. Because no Smash game afterwards will never top what's Ultimate.

As far as I knew most people thought the next game will be at least a soft reboot that takes an axe to the roster and redo the characters that aren't cut. Personally, I could see the roster thinned out a bit, but not to the degree of only having 30 characters or something.

I wouldn't call that a reboot either...Now that I think about it can you actually reboot a series that doesn't have any sort of continuity? I feel like it'd have to have a gameplay overhaul so large that you wouldn't really recognize it as the same game.

Yeesh! The similarities are huge! With how well that went I'd say Smash needs to stay away from this idea as a main entry. Perhaps they could to the re-imagining thing as a fundraiser/demo since they could just use the assets that they were building for the main game. They could even throw in Marth, Bowser, Mewtwo, and King Dedede.

It has its following. Now I just need the game to actually be complete before I pick it up again. I was so so soured by that original launch.

Actually, that would be the dream. Keep what's working, rework what isn't, add a new mode or two (Targets, Smash Run), maybe one or two new bosses, about half a dozen new characters like Ultimate's base game and one or two seasons of DLC.

I'd gladly buy Definitive Edition.

Smash won't get a reboot after Ultimate. Just updated versions of Ultimate, probably with a slightly different engine, mostly the same graphics but polished up, the same cast but with newcomers and new Echoes and a few new modes and a totally new Adventure Mode.

I think it's 90% likely this will happen. And maybe a spin off with a total different sort of gameplay, like a traditional fighter or something.

In case Smash goes the traditional fighter route, I expect way less goofy, gimicky and kiddy fighters and mostly mature and cool looking characters, along with a few fan favourites. Kirby and Pikachu will still be there of course.

Gonna be controversial and say Smash Ultimate should stop being made after a certain point. I'd hate the series to become overbloated and a gradual decline of quality is inevitable if it continues infinitely. At a maximum, 15 DLC fighters is a fantastic newcomer selection.

Plus I think Nintendo should focus more on games that aren't Smash Bros. They did a good job this year with games, but god damn. Half of them were buried by speculation, and albeit that's more a me-issue than a Nintendo issue.

Tbf I don’t even know if the fighters after FP5 will even follow a Pass type model or not. If DBFZ and most other fighting games are anything to go by though, they just might.

It's just hard for me to imagine Nintendo hardcore going into paid DLC seasons like other fighting games when they've historically been very conservative with DLC. Only other game that got this much support was Spatoon 2, and one instance isn't exactly a pattern, especially when Mario Kart 8 of all things only had two packs on Wii U and then nothing on Switch.
