Pixelated af and most likely fake, but you all are still talking about leaks from last year, so I'm certain that you can spend time dissecting this for a while.

Most likely? More like without a doubt, that’s straight from the Terry trailer and there’s like. No way they’ll replicate gameplay shots the same way between trailers

If anything, there being no announcement at the Game Awards has me believing in Vergeben even more. He never said there would be a character revealed there. And many of the characters that he "deconfirmed" are BIG characters. If Nintendo had some crazy character to reveal (like Sora, Dante, Crash, Doomslayer, Kratos, etc), I strongly believe it would have been revealed at the show. No reveal leads me to believe that whoever it is will make for a smaller, less impactful reveal - something that would make more sense during a Nintendo Direct than at The Game Awards.

So my faith in Vergeben has not faltered. But I do feel fairly confident that FP5 will mostly cater specifically to the Nintendo/Smash crowd or it's another completely random curveball.

More and more, I'm leaning towards a Nintendo rep. Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Pokemon, or Zelda. Mayyybe... Waluigi?

I also believe it's fake. Although I didn't know that was from the Terry trailer; nice job spotting that s***.

Imo it would be amusing if every time they add a fighting game character the previous one stands in the back of the line, making it longer. They should turn that into a running gag.

What's also interesting is that Vergeben has not really said anything since the Game Awards. I don't really have any idea what - if anything - that could mean, but it's nonetheless worth bringing up. At any rate, the last bit of worthwile information that came from him is that he's looking into his source's confusion on KOS-MOS, I think.

I think they only did it in Terry's trailer because of Capcom vs. SNK. Notice how it's a team of 3 Street Fighter characters that Terry's taunting, much like the 3-man teams you can assemble in CvS2? (and KoF)

TBH while I'll jump in here for some casual speculation every once and a while, I honestly really doubt we're hearing anything before late January at the absolute earliest.

Which is fine by me. I got a backlog the size of a mountain filled with hundred-hour long JRPGs, Pokemon breeding, and other stuff to keep me busy. Nintendo can tell me who FP5 is when they're ready. :drshrug:
Yea I'm the same. Just playing BotW and Persona 5 while I wait patiently for the DLC without getting bored with playing Smash. Keep my mind fresh for when it does come you know?

Never really understood the logic that since FP5 wasn't shown at the game awards it has to be either a niche or Nintendo character. Literally every DLC character we had since Joker was introduced in a Nintendo Direct. and it looks like FP5 won't be any different.

I don't understand that since nothing was shown at the game awards, it seems like nobody has anything to talk about. Was it expected? Yes, it was. Was it promised? No, it was not. It was just the passing of another day at best and a missed opportunity at worst. This is the month of the game's anniversary and it is the holiday season. A reveal is upon us.

Tbqh, the VGAs was average to put it mildly and I am glad that Super Smash wasn't shown there because it wouldn't have saved that clusterf***.

We can also talk about s*** after the pass. Think for yourselves damnit! Stop relying on mofos who are probably as stumped as you are.

Because there;s hardly anything worth talking about at this point. Everyone said their pieces already. I know I'm mentally checked out at this point. No point in blabbing the same stuff or going around the same circles for the next 'pass'.

A lot of people are still holding a lot of hype for FP5 dropping sooner or later, so the question for today is what would be the most underwhelming way to announce/reveal FP5?

Game updates with no warning and 5 is just available. No prior announcement.

Random drop like what Robin/Lucina got back in Smash 4? Just dropping the trailer without any prior announcement on Twitter?

I guess it would be a trailer on it's own without showing any gameplay nor the release date. I always hate it when game trailers and like you would see in a movie instead of an actual game.

No trailer. No direct. Sakurai just writes a blog post saying ''[fighter5] will join the battle in a couple months!!''
Sakurai vaguely describes FP5 as "A brand new smasher who originates from a video game owned by a company who has something to do with video games."

The same way they revealed PAC-MAN in Smash 4. A “closed-doors” reveal, and then a video drop following that.

It means a technical difficulty has appeared at some point in his chain of sources, thus interrupting the flow of disconfirmations, please understand.

It's gonna be a long waiting game I think, In terms of any good new game announcements or anything I'm not expecting anything major over the next few weeks.

The only thing coming up right now is Sakurai's appearance on a future livestream with other Japanese developers, but that hardly pertains to Smash.

Everything Sakurai does is related to Smash. If we could become like Laplace's Demon but pertaining exclusively to Sakurai's life we would be able to predict every single future character he will add to the roster.

I am looking forward to the stream just for the possible shenanigans that will unfold by putting Sakurai and Yoko Taro in the same room.

Imagine being me and wanting Yuri Lowel while everyone else wants Lloyd
You're not alone.
How can you can have such exquisite taste.

I'm still on the Yuri train myself, but it's a losing battle trying to talk to the Smash community about Yuri getting in over Lloyd.
I'd love to have Yuri instead of Lloyd.
That's Tekken's Jin Kazama in that most likely fake pixelated image?
Unpopular opinion I'd rather have Jin over Heihachi, but I'd much rather have Ling Xiaoyu as a Tekken rep over anyone else

That livestream I'm hoping to see a translation of. Yoko Taro, Masahiro Sakurai, Hideki Kamiya and a few other developers. Two of my favourite creators there. Interested in seeing how it goes.

Honestly I don't see why people think Lloyd has a chance. Just look at him. He's bigger than Ridley.

HE'S TALLER THAN TREES AND HOUSES!

To be honest, after thinking about it a little more, Verge lost a ton of credibility after the KOS-MOS incident imo. Really don’t know whether or not to believe him.

To elaborate a little more and to avoid repeating myself, this is why I think this.

To be honest, Verge lost a ton of credibility in my eyes after that whole fiasco.

When Verges “source” said “no Namco”, it should’ve meant exactly that, no Namco for FP5. KOS-MOS is fully owned by Namco, that should’ve ended the conversation immediately.

However, when all of the “leaks” starting popping up for KOS-MOS, he created a scenario where it would be impossible for him to be wrong. He was probably worried about them potentially being true, so he went with the “not sure” route, despite this being a complete contradiction to him saying “no Namco, period.”

I rather have Jin or any other Tekken character over Heihachi, but hey that's just me.
