For Bamco I would choose someone from Soul Calibur.

Heihachi is cool and all, but I feel Ryu already encompasses the traditional fighting genre. Soul Calibur could at least cover the weapon-based fighter (which I admit is a bit less recurrent, and I can only come up with Soul Calibur, Samurai Showdown, and the ocassional TMNT fighting game).

Sophitia, Nightmare, or at least Yoshimitsu which covers both SC and Tekken.

...
Then again, Ryu Hayabusa could incorporate a lot of moves from DOA, another 3D fighter.

But we're talking Bamco here. I'm not too atattched to any series from Bandai Namco.
I still, however, stand by my belief that it could be KOS-MOS. Just a wild hunch.

I don’t find the idea of Smash news during May highly likely. The biggest thing Nintendo might do during that month would be a presentation regarding a mobile game or something of that level (Mario Kart Tour is pretty likely after the announcement of a closed beta a few days ago).

At E3 however, I could imagine Nintendo showing something related to Smash. These are the scenarios I find possible:

>Only one reveal, Brave is Erdrick and has a trailer without gameplay (same way as Joker at the Game Awards).
>Only one reveal, Brave is Erdrick and we actually get gameplay with the trailer
>Two reveals, Brave is either Erdrick or someone else (Banjo/Steve sounds plausible) and both get revealed at the Nintendo conference.
>Two reveals, Brave is Erdrick or Banjo/Steve and the first gets revealed at the Nintendo conference and the latter at Microsoft’s.
>Two reveals, Erdrick at Square’s conference and Banjo/Steve at Microsoft’s.
>We get a Smash presentation sometime before Nintendo’s conference similar to the one for Smash 4 where Roy and Ryu got revealed.
>Worst case-scenario: no Smash news.

I won’t hold myself too much towards any of these, since I could end up dissapointed. But I can only wait and see what happens.

Do you think Heihachi would always face his opponent in a 1v1 like Ryu and Ken?

Slightly off topic, but what if we got a character color picker in the next DLC patch? Ideally it would allow you to create up to 8 custom colors. They could also throw in some new alternate costumes as free and/or paid DLC. This could even include things that didn't get into the base game because they're too similar to the default color (Ninten), or even ones that just should have been in the base game (Mrs. Pac-Man). These custom costumes would be playable online, but if you tired of garish color combinations you could turn them off for other players; In which case your screen will show the other player using the normal color that corresponds to their custom color.
I love this!

Bamco top 3 for me:

Kos-Mos
Yoshimitsu
Lloyd (I’d probably take any Tales character here).

I think Yoshimitsu would probably be best. Best moveset.

Would like a ms. Pac man echo

Agumon is easily my most wanted Bandai Namco rep.

Agumon vs Pikachu is something that I just hope to see.

Ok, after posting this I remembered that Agumon is also a possible scenario for Brave, so I will just post every theory regarding May and June on my status page.

I'm still not sure which Bandai Namco rep I want for dlc. Heihachi and Lloyd Irving would be cool, unique characters, but I also want the Prince of All Cosmos just to see how stupid a Katamari moveset in Smash would be.
I thought there wasn't any Bamco character I wanted (besides Ms. Pac Man in an echo fighter pack or something) until you brought up the Prince of all Cosmos. That's the greatest/funniest idea I've heard in a while. That'd probably be the most unique character to come from the Fighter Pass.

>Only one reveal, Brave is Erdrick and has a trailer without gameplay (same way as Joker at the Game Awards).
Joker was mainly revealed early on to convince people to buy the Fighter Pack/Pass. I doubt they would do the same with the rest of the lineup.
>Only one reveal, Brave is Erdrick and we actually get gameplay with the trailer
It can happen, but I don't know how most of the western audience would feel about Erdrick being the only character revealed during E3 since Dragon Quest isn't as popular in the west as it is in Japan (unless Brave happens to not be Erdrick at all and happens to be a very popular character on both fronts).
I'm very certain the 2 reveals will be announced by Nintendo themselves. Smash is their property, so any idea of Microsoft, Bethesda, Ubisoft, or Square revealing a Smash fighter on their presentations isn't gonna happen.
>We get a Smash presentation sometime before Nintendo’s conference similar to the one for Smash 4 where Roy and Ryu got revealed.
I wouldn't be surprised if this happened. Nintendo would probably think that the Smash news could potentially overshadow their entire E3 direct and doesn't want that to be the case, even with their current lineup of announced games (Mario Maker 2, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion 3, 3 Houses, Ultimate Alliance 3, Astral Chain, Bayonetta 3, etc.). There is just so much to unveil that they might just want to leave Smash out of the Direct and give it a presentation by itself.
>Worst case-scenario: no Smash news.
EVERYONE would be pissed if this happens. I can't really add anything else to it but that.

As far as a Bandai Namco character getting in, Heihachi's case seems complicated given that his Japanese VA passed away. They could just use older voiceclips of his or find another VA to fill in the role, but right now, his chances don't seem likely. If any Tekken character's getting in, it's either Jin or Kazuya.
I honestly don't know a lot about Lloyd since I have no real knowledge of the Tales series and his role in the game, but from what I do know is that he's the most popular Tales character in the West, so he seems up there as a likely candidate for now.
I've said a couple of things about Nightmare already, which is surprising that a lot of people seem to undersell his or any other SC character's chances on being in the Fighter Pass. If Street Fighter and Tekken are the beat 'em ups of Fighting games, Soulcalibur is the hack and Slash of Fighting games, and we don't really have any character within that sort of category in Smash currently (Link doesn't really count since he was a guest character for Soulcalibur 2). If anyone from Soulcalibur were to be in Smash, Nightmare would be the most fitting character to represent the series.

Getting Agumon as the elusive second Bamco rep would at the very least be very amusing in finally officially seeing Pokémon Vs Digimon. There are more popular 3rd parties of course, maybe even from Banco themselves, and it may barely count as qualifiable with its Tamogotchi game origins, but it sure would be a shocker. Though I wonder if the rivalry was as present in Japan, and if the games themselves are respected enough?
I can imagine the trailer even incorporating Pokémon, to the presumptuous groan at the thought of getting another Pokémon fighter, until the Pokémon fight gets interrupted by a Digimon trainer, who releases Agumon onto Pikachu and his friends. Speaking of, seeing how Sonic only has the one character for his notorious rivalry, it shouldn't matter top much if it's the one Digimon rep against tons of Pokémon.

If Nintendo and Microsoft were collaborating, I do very much see the character announcement happening on Microsoft's stage to sell the idea that yes, the two giants are working together.

Keep in mind that Mario + Rabbids was announced on Ubisoft's stage, and that's primarily a Mario game.

My top 3 Bamco characters are;

Agumon(I love Digimon, and he fits the settings well. And could be a neat improvement to the evolution/transform mechanic, very different from others)
Lloyd Irving(Cause let's be honest, we have no true dual-wielder. I'm doubting Toon Ganondorf HW Ganondorf)
Nightmare(he's my second-favorite Soul Calibur character after Voldo, but works way better, as Voldo's "can attack backwards" doesn't work in Smash settings very well. Nightmare being strong at launching characters is very easy to adapt)

I wouldn’t be too upset at Agumon. Comeback mechanic is sure to be him Digivolving mid-battle.

I have next to no knowledge about Digimon. And I’m cool with any BN representative. Klonoa, Heihachi, Agumon, heck even Kite from .hack series (it was a game before an anime, right?).

I’m mostly invested in the Square rep, and the Bethesda rep if they have one. Then somewhat a Microsoft one, but I’m almost indifferent there too.

Basically, Erdrick or Crono is all I want, followed closely by Doomguy and Ryu Hayabusa (man, that 5ch leak nailed it for me... which is why I think it’s fake, as it gives me grinch leak 2 vibes) or Joe Musashi which I doubt will happen, as we already got a SEGA DLC character.

Even with Mario + Rabbids being announced on Ubisoft's presentation, it's not like they have a console of their own to sell. I'm on the firm belief that Microsoft's presentation would solely be focused more on Xbox related content than anything else. Microsoft could announce what games are coming on their and Nintendo's platform together or even announce that Xbox Live is coming to the Switch, but I don't think that they themselves would announce DLC for a game that isn't even on their platform unless it somehow ties into the Xbox Live on Switch announcement if there is 1. Plus, I don't think anyone watches an Xbox panel for a game exclusive to a completely different console; they just to see what Microsoft has in store for them and anything related to the Xbox.

From what I understand the Tamogotchi is a game console albeit a simplistic one. Even if it's not considered to be one it still falls along the lines of the Game & Watch system and R.O.B. in my opinion.

I frankly have no investment in any of the company reps beyond the Microsoft rep. I would say the Square rep, too, but I'm positive that it is Erdrick. He's a cool pick and he's grown on me, not to mention how deserving he is of a spot in Smash, but he just doesn't excite me personally. My last most wanted standing is Banjo, as far as I'm concerned (now that Shadow is an assist and Geno is almost certainly out), and that's where all of my hopes lie.

Heihachi was voiced by Banjo Ginga in Tekken 1-2. I'd rather have Kazuya over him because he is my favorite and the Devil Gene gives him more possible gameplay variations than Heihachi, but I'd actually love if they brought him with his original voice actor.

Also, if there is a Tekken character, I hope that, no matter what character is, they keep the same voice actor in all versions of the game (be it japanese, english, chinese, spanish, portuguese...) since nearly all of Tekken's cast always speaks their mother language.

I'm personally excited for the Microsoft rep, because I REALLY want Master Chief, Cuphead, Steve or Creeper in Smash. The only thing that worries me is that Banjo is looking most likely to be the Microsoft rep, and he's the only Microsoft frontrunner that I personally don't want. No hate against Banjo or anything. It's just Banjo-Kazooie has been irrelevant since before I was born, and the Banjo-Kazooie series has only two good games and many bad spin-offs. I really hope Nintendo went with Chief, Cuphead or a Minecraft rep if there is in fact a Microsoft character in the works.

The prospect of an indie rep also excites me because I'd love to see the Knight/Hornet from Hollow Knight, Sans from Undertale, or Quote from Cave Story join the battle!

Most characters from Bamco, Capcom, Bethesda, Blizzard, Konami and Square that have yet to be deconfirmed don't really excite me personally.

I really hope Nintendo chooses one of the characters I want for the Microsoft rep, because odds are, the rest of the Fighter Pass characters (unless they add an indie rep), will likely be characters that don't appeal to me. Don't let me down, Nintendo!

It won't be Chief sadly. Frankie was direct with that disconfirmation.

I think we are getting two reveals at E3. They have to sell the fighter's pass and this is the time and place to do that. It is going to be Brave reveal and release and then another announcement for later. They have to keep it rolling.

User has been warned for this post.

I'm just kidding. Have you played any of the Banjo-Kazooie games, though? "Many bad spin-offs" is definitely an exaggeration; Nuts & Bolts is the only "bad" one, and even then, it's still a fun game - it's just not good if you look at it as a Banjo-Kazooie sequel. If you haven't played any of those games, I'd strongly recommend Banjo-Kazooie if you have an Xbox 360, Xbox One, or Nintendo 64 (or, bare minimum, look up a Let's Play) - it holds up well, and it should make it clear why Banjo and Kazooie are still popular choices for Smash in spite of everything that's happened since the Rare buyout.

Also, relevancy on its own doesn't seem to mean much when it comes to Smash - even if you don't count the retro characters, there's Mega Man and the Belmonts (whose series had been basically ignored by the companies that own them), along with K. Rool (who hadn't been used by Nintendo for roughly a decade before he made it into Smash Ultimate).

Two good games is still more than any of the other Microsoft franchises you mention bar Halo.

Key difference is that Mario + Rabbids was a new game published and developed by Ubisoft, a Smash-related DLC announcement would be for a game on your console that Nintendo published and developed by Bamco and Sora. So the public that you need to sell the game to are pretty much the ones that will watch the Direct. Unless there's a port of Ultimate on Xbox, pretty much a fighter being announced on MS conference seems like a stretch (or any other for that matter).

But they would also very much like to sell Ultimate (and Switches) to the Xbox audience. If they can get on their competitor's stage and advertise their exclusive title, it's definitely smart to do so.

It simply won't make much sense unless they port Ultimate to the XBox One.

Unless they announcing Xbox Streaming for Switch. This could be a win/win situation. Sony is the big player in competition to Microsoft. Nintendo has finally stopped to be a competitor to the others. This means Microsoft is not a competitor to Nintendo and both could make projects together. For Microsoft this would be good way to go back on the Asian/Japanese Market. Nintendo says, "hey, we work together with our friends by Microsoft" Microsoft could win back a few costumers they have drove away. with thier former CEO.
A rep in SSBU could be a good expression of this cooperation. Maybe, Nintendo wants 2 reps. Chief as Microsoft Mascot. Banjo as N64 rep.

I'm pretty sure Chief, Cuphead and Steve all have developer's discussion going against them (that discord guy with Steve, Cheif's direct deconfirmation and Cuphead guys openly saying they'd love if he was in Smash). Funnily enough, that leaves us with Banjo, assuming there IS a Microsoft rep.

Did Microsoft's deal go through in time for the DLC selection? And would Nintendo of Japan have cared?

I don't think that we're getting 2 Microsoft reps in the Fighter Pass.

Made a mock-up of what a perfect Fighter's Pass would look like to me.

Not at all what I'm expecting the pass to be (I.E. Bandana Dee and Paper Mario's chances aren't looking so good rn) but it was still fun to do.

I love this, but I don't know if two Mario characters is 'perfect'.

So just cut Piranha Plant and we good

I would think that the next Smash related news would come at E3. Unless they wanted to reveal the next character prior to E3, so they could release the pack at E3. However, I don't think that's a likely option.

My top guesses for future DLC would be characters not represented in Smash currently, and have a universe of characters and backgrounds that allow for an impressive Challenger Pack akin to Persona 5's.

Erdrick.
Lloyd.
Agumon.
Master Chief.
Banjo-Kazooie.
Spyro.
Sora.

Spyro however is a huge long shot. Although he has a recent popular game, and a universe of characters to make spirits, his initial poor showing in Japan decades ago means hes not a big name over there. This is frustrating as his popularity and nostalgia in America/Europe makes him perfect for Smash.

I think Erdrick, Spyro, and Agumon fit the "Brave" moniker well. Most games we play usually have a "brave" protagonist, but these three have a connection to the word itself.

Characters that I think have no chance, but would fit well, include Sans from Undertale and Scorpion from Mortal Kombat.

I would say that Sakurai is still the one making the most prominent decisions for the game. He is the director after all. He doesn't decide on everything but he still the one who is probably most responsible for character inclusion.

I assume Nintendo and Sakurai come up with character selections together, but Sakurai has a much bigger overall influence since he usually has a vision of what kind of game he wants to make.

Pretty much. A big part of why I think Joker made it in was because Sakurai is huge fan of the Persona series, especially Persona 5. Nintendo has to approve of it and negotiate with Atlus of course, but I think Sakurai's love for the games was what helped push Joker through. I don't he would have made it in if it weren't for both Sakurai's love for the games and considerable respect and influence in the Japanese gaming industry.

Your other points are good, but none of the third party Mii costumes returned in Ultimate base game. There is no mystery unique to Heihachi, it's likely just licensing issues.
Or they’re saving the third party costumes for DLC

These are the characters I would like to see in the Fighter's Pass
  • Thrall - I love World of Warcraft and Warcraft III to the point where I think Thrall would be fun despite the lack of history with nintendo, but it is my dream
  • Crash - Crash rhymes with Smash... enough said
  • Yuri - I was watching an LP of it on Twitch, It was really interesting
  • Lightning - It is another dream to have Final Fantasy XIII representation in Smash
These aren't predictions, but it is my wishlist.

Ooh, I'm gonna share my wishlist, too! I know some of the characters I want are controversial, so please don't hate on me for my picks. My list is excluding characters that are already Assist Trophies, Spirits, Bosses, etc. Let's begin.

* Sans - What can I say? Sans is from one of my favorite games of all time, one of my favorite boss battles ever and he is my favorite video game character in existence. My most wanted character for sure. I think he'd have a very unique moveset and mesh with the rest of the cast, while being distinctive as well. Not to even mention that the OST Sans would bring with him is god tier.

* Cuphead - Cuphead is my favorite video game ever, so of course Cuphead is gonna appear on my list. I'd love it if Cuphead maintained his 30's animation art style and was 2D Game and Watch style. The stage he'd bring in with him would be completely unique with the art style and that sweet, sweet jazz music that would accompany it.

Sans and Cuphead are my number one and two respectively. As for the other two slots, I'm gonna throw out a bunch of characters I'd love to see. There isn't really any one of these characters I want more than the other, which is why I'm not ranking the rest of them. Without further ado, these are the rest of the characters I'd love to see in the Fighters Pass!

Master Chief (Halo)

Wishlists? Well, to echo what I put in another thread...

May have said this a lot already BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT

I've played all of the Rhythm Paradise games and we were so close to getting a character in Smash 4 last time. That'd be the one first party addition I'd want the most to be added to the roster, I'd be pretty set with those then :D

The third party character I'd want the most would be Crash. Big fan of the series since like forever, and I wanted him in Smash since the Brawl/SSF2 expansion character project days. And now that that has the most plausible shot of happening ever, I sure hope they seize the opportunity. Finally having Mario, Sonic and Crash in the same game would be quite magical.

Those are pretty much my big two wants in terms of characters, I don't have much other notable ones. A Metal Slug character would be pretty neat I suppose.
Getting at least one of my big two would be pretty insane and I'd love it.
