So with Sora and seemingly Capcom being deconfirmed, that does make it more likely for a company like Konami, Sony, Nintendo, or even an indie to get in.

That's definitely surprising. Interesting that Sabi has yet to completely deconfirm Capcom, though. I could see Sora being kept under lock and key, but if he's definitely out I'm leaning towards a double dip (Arle, Kiryu, Master Chief, 2B, Hatsune Miku) or a Nintendo character, with a Capcom character coming in the post-pass.

Capcom was deconfirmed

Capcom was soft deconfirmed by an NoA ambassador, not the main source. They ARE trustworthy, but Vergeben has remained silent and Sabi has said not to take it as gospel. Vergeben never made the "No Sora, No Capcom" post; that was a fake account which is why the post was deleted.

They're not likely but they're not completely out of the running.

Definitely the laughable audio. It's a very badly scripted fake. I doubt anyone knows anything about Chief.

Probably the former, she's just mocking the audio leak for being so obviously fake, since she said she hadn't seen it until now I doubt she has consulted any of her sources about either the leak or Master Chief in general.

I never got the Minecraft hate. Ive never played it, but its a game thats made its impact on the industry as a whole. They got super unique character and world designs, and the moveset would be hilarious. Sounds perfect for Smash

the more I look at the current fighters pass lineup, the more it seems like they were chosen under the assumption that they would be the last additions Sakurai would ever add to smash (Reminder that they were likely decided prior to season 2 being greenlit).

Joker - Persona 5 was a personal fav of Sakurai's
Hero - A legendary Japanese series yet to be represented
Banjo- a longtime fan demand that seemed pretty much impossible
Terry - King of Fighters being the main reason we even got smash in the first place

character 5's definitely gonna be something special,

not necessarily hype inducing, but at the very least has a meaningful reason to be there

I doubt Steve would receive anywhere near the same amount of hate now as he did back during the base game rumors, a lot of it came from the simple fact that he was perceived as competition for Banjo. That's usually the reason why any character receives hate during Smash speculation, when the masses want someone else that's in direct competition for that particular spot.

I could see it happening. Have a Dragonborn reveal follow up a Breath of the Wild 2 trailer. Make people think it’s an add-on for the game (just like the original Ultimate announcement with Splatoon), then have Link get Fus-Roh-Dah’d out of nowhere or something.

Well, good! I was never a big Skyrim fan but his love of the character is infectious.

The mass outcry is what I'm banking on. When you've got news outlets that barely ever touch on video games commenting on his disconfirmation it becomes hard to ignore.
Of course I'm not betting on it but still
