I agree with all of the seven points.

I forgot number 8.

Don't lock everything new and interesting behind DLC.

Smash Ult wouldn't have been nearly as good if you have to pay for all the newcomers.

That first gif should totally be recreated with Captain Falcon instead of the goon in Layton's trailer somewhere if he where to make it into Smash, I don't care how, it just should.

Professor Layton and Captain Falcon are my favorite unlikely duo.

I mean, you do have to pay for half of them... It's more that Infinite had a smaller roster than 3 on top of having like 2 new characters in the base roster. Most can excuse the low amount of newcomers in Ultimate's base roster sense everyone is back.

Okay, let's go back to actual speculation: What kind of potential non-fighter characters like Isabelle can bring an interesting moveset to Smash?

Is there any such characters you want and/or think are likely?

I know it'll never happen, but one of my more recent pipe dreams for Smash would be the Goose from Untitled Goose Game. I could imagine at least one of the moves would be stealing items from other players.

what screams fake is this is almost immediate reveal rather than hyping up like all of the other dlc and non dlc characters in ultimate

They only said the Fighter’s Pass wouldn’t include echoes. Post pass it’s a possibility

The whole point of echoes and similar clones was to pad out the roster quickly, considering people will be paying money for DLC, I don't see it happening

Though, getting back to what the actual point was, what made MVCI's DLC egregious was the fact that the DLC characters weren't made after launch and are were very obviously cut out of the main game and held back to sell. Heck, Black Panther, Monster Hunter and Venom were in the story mode.

So in this case, if Smash launched with 6 piranha plants.

There's always a chance of an Echo being bundled in with a character somehow. I could see it happening if said character didn't get a stage.

But overall, I doubt Echoes will get in individually unless they're dirt cheap/free.

Personally I could see Coco Bandicoot making it in with her big bro where the only gameplay difference is she spin-kicks instead of risking a suit from Taz's lawyer.

You know, all these big characters and companies getting deconfirmed for DLC5 as of late combined with his devs being listed as parters at the Tecent presentation is making me feel like this.

It might still be Sora or Phoenix or whoever but I find it astonishing my hope for them is as high as it is at the moment.

I'd love to have Octolings, Dixie Kong, and Impa as echoes in an echo pack (even though i'd prefer them all as semi-clones)

I personally like all these three characters, but it would also be a nice way to sate people who would like more Nintendo characters or would like more female characters.

I genuinely forget the echoes are in the game sometimes, because I’m one of the four people who has Stack Echoes turned on. Things like Dark Samus breaking up the Original 12 bothers me too much

I wouldn’t be bothered if they added new Echoes (especially Dixie, she needs to be playable), but overall I’d prefer they put all of the resources into new character and stage development.

That's definitely surprising. Interesting that Sabi has yet to completely deconfirm Capcom, though. I could see Sora being kept under lock and key, but if he's definitely out I'm leaning towards a double dip (Arle, Kiryu, Master Chief, 2B, Hatsune Miku) or a Nintendo character, with a Capcom character coming in the post-pass.
