It can be a tricky argument to be sure, but I'm inclined to agree that book Geralt and CDPR's Geralt are different enough characters. Adapting something into another medium will always introduce significant differences even if one is trying to be really faithful to the source material; fitting another medium entirely (Tom Bombadil would not work in the LotR films at all, I'd argue - so cutting him's acceptable), or errors / mistakes.*

*(Nuclear Gandhi is arguably the most famous example here - it's due to an underflow error. Gandhi's the lowest agression score - just +1 out of 10 - of all AI leaders in Civ I, and learning the tech Democracy lowers the agression rating by 2. However, the devs didn't account for this, so -1 turns the pacifist Gandhi into a 255 warmonger of nukes. Needless to say, Nuclear Gandhi's hilarious.)

Geralt would have a cool moveset and music, for sure, but my reasons for not caring much about him are kind of petty. To put it short, he's so lame he's such a lame character he's so goddamn lame his Soulcalibur 6 story and dialogue were so edgy to the point of hilarity and in his actual game he's like that except boring god he's so lame

But hey he'd be fine. Why is he in Daemon X Machina? Code Geass made sense, this is just Star Wars in SC4 levels of Very Silly. I kinda love it.

Geralt would be really crazy. Didn't play the Witcher games, but I guess that if they do their own thing separate from the books... it would be possible?

For me, it would be one of those "hype by proxy" situations. A friend of mine would, to quote Vinny Vinesauce, be so happy he "would **** mushrooms" if it happened.

Something I've started wondering with the crossover between Daemon X Machina and The Witcher. Are we underestimating Geralt?

Though that's kind of a grey area isn't it? Geralt originated in a book series even though he's more well known for his video game appearances.

I don't think he is underestimated. We have to keep in mind one thing: Smash and Sakurai are Japanese. He mentionned that working with Banjo's team was easy, but we have to remember it is Microsoft, one of the most strong western company, that certainly have some presence in Japan.
Geralt would be way harder to work with, first because he probably have shared rights between different rights holders, and because both CD Projekt and Andrzej Sapkowski (the writer) are Polish and probably don't have specific ties to Japan; it would be harder to communicate.
And I don't even take the non-videogame characters rule into account.

Why would Kirby be in Smash? That's just silly. He would either be too OP by OHKOing his opponents by eating them or not be faithful to his character by not being able to eat them. You simply can't implement Kirby without it being either broken or unfaithful. Not to mention that Kirby is way too small.

I appreciate the honesty haha. There’s a few characters that are good choices for DLC, but I have the petty dislike of.
