FP5 is Vergeben himself. The Nintendo ninjas finally got him and they're gonna trap him in the game live at the Game Awards as punishment. Now he's disconfirming every character possible as a call for help. We can't let Nintendo get away with this, we gotta save Vergeben gamers!

Phoenix is still possible, yet the ravenous vultures who chomp at the bit for any opportunity to tell people their most wanted character has been deconfirmed pass Sabi's tweet around as if it's a confirmation that Phoenix is dead.

My Discord servers have been full of that today.

Does anyone have the feeling that FP5's reveal will be earlier than the game awards? Because it seems like the disconfirmations from Insiders are ramping up now, and didn't Jon post an Otter a couple of days ago? I think we could be getting that predicted Anniversary Stream/Direct.

John's otters don't mean anything. He stopped doing hints after the MPT distaser of last year.

If fighter #5 is going to be leaked, it'll probably happen two or three days prior to the Game Awards, like happened with Terry. We all know that leakers gather little pieces of information, but some of them probably got confirmation from the video presentations before anyone else.

I think we could possibly see Fighter 5 revealed next week, since December 7th is Ultimate's anniversary. We could get a Smash-focused Nintendo Direct next Tuesday or Thursday (the last Direct was back in September and was a general Direct) revealing Fighter 5, their gameplay, a release date for February, the content of Version 6.0, and details on how post-Pass DLC will be handled.

As for the Game Awards? Well, assuming we get the aforementioned Direct (it's also possible we'll get nothing next week), there's two possibilities...

We get nothing Smash-related and will have to wait until February for any news on post-Pass DLC.
Last year we had Joker to kick off this current Fighters Pass... so this year, the Game Awards will reveal Fighter 6 and kick off the next round of DLC characters.

Here's a controversial opinion. As happy as I am that we are getting more fighters I really can't wait for this all to end. It gets pretty exhausting.

I'm in the same boat, but I guess it helps that I'm pretty much of the thought that a Smash VGA reveal is straight up not happening.

Joker was the only one who was never leaked by insiders. He came by surprise. As for the others, Hero was a horribly kept secret for months, Banjo was teased by Shinobi (admin on Resetera who also teased Smash Ultimate before the game's reveal last March), and Terry was leaked by Vergeben after the SNK leak.

So long as the actual character doesn't get leaked I highly doubt they care self-induced suffering we go through.

We technically haven't been getting any leaks though, just people with insider connections saying a bunch of characters won't be Fighter 5. Even if we were getting legit leaks, they probably plan these announcements ahead of time (Joker being an exception as a last-minute Game Awards reveal, but that wasn't due to leaks since none were popping up). So if we're getting Fighter 5 revealed next week, it's likely because they always planned that reveal to be on that date, not because someone leaked the character and they have to scramble to reveal them earlier.
