i guess being open gives it some merit to being used as a newbie gameI wanted to run something a bit different than your standard game, plus its an open setup so its not too confusing for newbies.
i think that the game mechanics is too far removed from "standard" play to be good for a newbie. even the regular players here seem to underestimate how different the game really is.

I mean I know I have mafia experience but I never really learned how to play right and it's been like two years and I'd be so bad in a regular game.

Actually, I would recommend letting GLG join as a newbie. I'm actually reconsidering my position that newbie games don't help one get better after they "learn the basic rules." I think newbie games may help some develop fundamentals that one can build off of.
In matter of fact, I think it was newbie 9 that I really just started to learn the fundamentals of being able to "read" people, even though I was an IC. before then I was **** at it.
