jesus, where the H*ll where you Lyn fanboys when she wasn't deconfirmed? Seriously it seems nobody talks about her and then BAM! as soon as she's deconfirmed you all come out crying. Anyway's I'm glad to see she made it into SSBB as an Assist.

Ouch.
this is the first assist trophy that really hit me hard.
IE: this was the only one so far that I actually wanted. I'm still rooting for Roy-or any other FE characters for that matter.

Wednesday -- Stage: Artifact Temple (Ridley appears as constant stage hazard)
Thursday -- Pokemon Trainer Final Smash: Lucario (appears out of a PokeBall, does Aura Sphere, disappears)
Friday -- Boss: King Dedede

Best week ever.

Ah it's okay now. I was bit shocked at first, but he did say he wanted to please all the fans and not just one side of it. As long as he stays true to that I think I'll be okay.
I guess this is a way to relieve american fans and not be to bias. I guess it's better than nothing.
I WANT LYN and still got her somehow
*plans to lower every other assist trophy chances of appearing except Lyn*

I think everyones putting too much negative attitude into this. We knew that some characters would stay while others go. We can't get every character we hoped for. WE must refocus our mind on what still might lie ahead and then we can be truly appreciative of the game.

I just hope Marth or Roy return with Ike, the rest can be assists for all I care. I just love Marth's moveset.

The problem is that in terms of Fire Emblem, unless a playable Hector turns out to have been the thing that kept Lyn down, all that's going to lie ahead is stale, redundant characters. He and Lyn (and maybe Ephraim, but I don't think many people liked FE8) were the only unique lords that I know of in terms of fighting style. What can Marth or Sigurd or anyone else add to Brawl the Ike doesn't already have?

Is this whole week going to be Pokeballs/ Assist Trophies? Seems like Filler update even though this decomfirms two popular characters.

I had this idea when the boss idea came out for Brawl. To have a mode in versus where you could fight a boss with two or three other people while the boss is controlled by a PC (or Human)

Now what if you could choose some options for your AT, like how long they stay out on the field or maybe perhaps choose a personal Assist Trophy that you could use 3 times during a match.
Like if I choose Lyn, she'll come out everytime I press X and Y together.

Or maybe like the Event Mode in Melee, you had a match where you have to face off with all the ATs.

These ideas would be of course only accessible once you've either A) seen all the assist trophys or B) unlocked all of them.

Just a cool addition to Brawl, that I think will be overlooked.

Well, im sorry to all of you who wanted munchlax or Lyn, but im personally glad that they arent in the game. There are a bajillion better options than them. I certainly hope that there are not more than 2 FE people. In fact just 1 is enough. Fire emblam isnt a staple series. Dont get me wrong, i didnt think Diddy kong should be in the game either... Im hoping for some deconfirmations of some of the worthless characters from melee (im looking at you pichu....sheik...Mr Gay and Watch..._). Dont get me wrong, I main sheik, but none of those characters should be in brawl, ESPECIALLY PICHU. I mean, every pokemon in smash except mewtwo are unevolved forms. Pichu --->pikachu--->raichu and Jigglypuff--->wigglytuff. It annoys me because i feel like someone was too lazy to level them up before putting them in the game >.>

That's why I'm rooting for Micaiah.
Depending on what is important to Sakurai, she's either very likely or not at all.

Poor Lyn. I would have liked her as a playable character...

Oh well. I wasn't as disappointed as Deoxys or Munchlax.

is lyn supposed to be huge? look at the last pic..shes almost bigger than the PS platform..

I don't think so, if you look, that's one of the platforms that hovers above the main stadium. So she isn't really that big. =P

*cries* Dangit, I was really hoping she would be playable. She was one of the ones I wanted in as a playable character most. =( Ah well, I guess I can't really be dissapointed. It could be worse, she couldn't be in the game at all, right?

I figure we'll be getting Marth and Hector at least. Hopefully we'll get Ephraim too, then maybe one girl... I don't know who, maybe that girl Fawriel wants, she looks pretty cool.

And FE8 was one of the better FE games out there. It's a personal favorite and when it came out people were talking about it non-stop. Not to mention it was one of the more popular ones and the second FE to be released State-side. I figure Ephraim has decent chances of showing up in some manner; either as an AT, a sticker (...ugh...:urg:), a trophy, or hopefully a PC. He probably has the least likeliest chance showing up as a PC compared to the other three options, but a guy can dream can't he?

Although Lyn was among one of my most wanted, I have enough logic behind my thinking to not be surprised that she wasn't included. I knew it wasn't very likely from the beginning. So I'm not too upset about it.

What I AM upset about, is them giving us two summon item updates in a row. Come on, Sakurai, double update that ****. Stop wasting time.

As I said above, however, I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing a third Fire Emblem character playable in Brawl. Marth and Ike will be our two, representing the first and latest games in the series.

Also fittingly representing both the female and male spectrums.

Yeah, I called Marth a woman.

Really? I haven't played it myself yet (beaten 7 and 9, partway through 4), but I was under the impression that the general consensus was that 7 was the better of the two Game Boy ones. I'll still have to try it out one of these days, though.

In regards to Ephraim specifically, I think I remember hearing that he's the only rapier-wielding lord who kept the fencing style after promotion (Eliwood starts with a rapier, but then gets the standard-issue giant metal beatstick). That being the case, he might have a shot at being the third FE character after Ike and Sigurd/Marth if we get three...though I'd say Hector and Maciah both have a somewhat better shot.

Actually, it's his twin sister Eirika that's the fencer. Ephraim is an exclusively Lance using Lord, and with Eirika are the two lords of the game.

whoa, so true... for some reason, I was the same way.

Anyway, if there are only 2 FE characters, I easily root for Ike (he's confirmed, what else could I do?) and Roy (Fire>femininity)
pwn3d.

no new is good news when new news is bad news. and no news is good news if good news isn't new. something like that.

Marth is all but guaranteed, simply due to his popularity in Melee (have to be stupid not to include a popular character from a past game in the series). If he's a hidden character (and people are right that the "new challenger approaching" just means a new character that's a starter) like he was last time, he may not be announced before launch.

I can't say that I follow FE, but I wouldn't mind seeing Hector as he has an axe, not another of our half dozen+ sword users. And if that Miciah(sp?) person is more of a mage, it'd be cool to see her as well. Zelda only has so many moves to work with, so she can't do EVERY magic attack possible. More mages ftw please.

Really? I thought Ephraim got a lance with promotion...they must have been discussing Erika in the Ephraim thread and I mixed them up.

Well, regardless, Brawl doesn't have any lance-wielders either. Nor do any other possibilities for one really exist aside from Kain (which is exceedingly unlikely, of course). So that means we've got Hector's axe, Ephraim's spear, and Maciah's magic left standing to try to claim the last spot.

It's too bad, really. In an alternate universe where the first six Fire Emblems never existed, having Lyn, Hector, and Ephraim all in Brawl would have been pretty epic. Weapon triangle and all that.

no female sword wielder for brawl ha ! the next FE char is mlikely to be a man

The update was okay. Better than having Munchlax just eat items. I'm not big on FE, but Ike sure does look like a beast. It didn't matter to me whether or not Lyn came in. As a matter of fact, that didn't even come to mind.

Girls rock your boys!

Well, this seems to been a fun add on to the guest characters!
The only thing I regret is that their hasn't been a new female added on to brawl for controlled fighting purposes. Let's hope we get a good one like most expected Kystal from Star Fox.
We cry out to the one guy in HAL Labs that will call out for geekdom and retrieve her!

The first thing that came to my mind was "Sakurai is a hyprocrite".

He tells us he wants more female characters playable, then he goes and makes one of the best candidates an assist trophy. WTF

Hey kids, don't be surprised if KRYSTAL and LIP are ATs.
Krystal is a lot more popular on the poll. Lyn was mentioned once I think. Stop whining that she wasn't popular enough. And Lip probably will be an AT.

Are you joking? Lyn is pretty much the only FE lord who ISN'T similar to Marth! That's why she would have been such a great choice. She may have a sword, but she has a totally unique fighting style.

Wha!!? How can you tell all fire emblems battle modes is just I attack you doing one specific waves of the sword depending on class and attack and you do one wave of your sword lance or axe to retaliate how can you tell if she is different from Marth?
