When will K.Rool finally return in a new DK game ?

its always these random new enemies that are the main villain and not K.Rool
Who knows? I swear Rare's creations are looked down upon some times within Nintendo's walls. Though of course we only got 1 real DK game last gen in Jungle Beat, and only one this year in Returns. But with both those games containing 99% new characters I have to wonder why.

In spin offs everyone is fair game, even in the Mario sports titles Crunch(or is it Kritter?) seems to pop up from time to time. The clap traps also appear often but they more or less made their debut long before the Country series.

At least with Returns we know Retro wasn't completely against established characters with Rambi, Squaks, Diddy and Cranky showing up. So maybe we'll see the return of the Kremling Crew again some day. I'm not counting on them returning in the next iteration but I doubt they will be lost forever within the main series. Chances are a new DK is being developed as we speak and even if K Rool and the gang don't show up I think a playable appearance in Smash Bros would revitalize them in one way or another contributing to a higher chance of them appearing in a main series DK game afterward.

I want both, and if Palutena can have an attack similar to Sheik's Needles and we have Impa around, I just don't want Sheik back in anyway.

Lucario and Ike should stay though imo, though both need work.

:phone:
The major problem with impa is that she doesn't have a potential moveset.

That, sir,is more important than any char(maybe even chuck norris  ),even though impa is a sheikah, sheik was only zelda, and as far as we all know, zelda is NOT a sheikah, and a real sheikah would maybe have a really different moveset.

I sure miss Rareware... they made the best DK games.

At least we got Retro Studios.

I hope we see more DK goodness from them soon.

I think the last time I ended up becoming endeared to a character so much that I wanted them in Smash Bros. was in 2003/2004, and that was Little Mac.

How is waiting until I experience their source material to see whether or not I will personally want them being flaky? I have said this for a long while.
You got to be affirmative. Take action. Not sit on the sidelines and wait for things to happens.

Cause he's awesome.

Is that it for Medusa's video? Dissapointing...

But I still would want her over Palutena. Seeing her turn people to stone and become a giant snake seemed interesting...

G&W and R.O.B seem to represent a part of Nintendo's history.
One made his debut in Melee, the other in Brawl.

Is there anyone or thing that could fill the "odd historical" character slot for the next Smash?

@Bowserlick: Not that I can think of, although Miis may fall into that catagory.

Mr. Game & Watch does represent the birth of Nintendo's video gaming industry. Likewise, R.O.B. represents the recovery from the video game crash that once occurred.

I have tried to think of one, and there is not anyone else. Sakurai will figure out something crazy surely though.

I also think Mii's would fit into the category. However, that may be time consuming because every Mii selectable attribute (eyes, brows, ect) would have to be re-created to match the design and polygon count of the Smash game.

Watch it be an original character that references Nintendo's history as a hanafuda card company prior to a video game company.

I think if there were the case the Ultra Hand would be used somewhere in its moveset. Heck, I think the Ultra Hand has a good shot at showing up as an item this time.

Lol she has plenty of available moves. Much more Sheik had. And THAT my friend is the whole point.

Ultra Hand did get it's own Wiiware game (Club Nintendo only). It could happen.

Maybe it could extend grabs?

Sheriff, Sukapon, Duck hUNt Dog.

Sheriff, Sukapon, Duck hUNt Dog.
Sukapon is hardly historic to Nintendo.
Duck Hunt Dog, while somewhat of an icon, is not that historic.

Sheriff is the most historic of the three, as he is Nintendo's first character, dating further back than Mr. Game & Watch.

I think Sukapon is just a plain retro character.

Game and Watch represents a line of LCD handheld electronics and R.O.B is a Nintendo accesory. The Duck Hunt Dog could fit into this "Offbeat Nintendo Mascots" because he was the unofficial mascot for the NES zapper (But I think the zapper would have to have a large role in order to qualify the Dog). And Sheriff had an arcade game.

I think Medusa offers more than Paluenta.

1. She would be the only female villain.

2. Petrification would be a first for a move (I am speculating that a character named Medusa will turn people into stone). Once a character turns into a statue, she can try to push them towards the ledge for a fast-falling KO.

3. She contrasts Pit (Paluenta, on the other hand, shares many traits with Pit). Dark vs Light.
Bowserlick understands.

Duck Hunt Dog.

- represents the Light Gun series (Wild Gunman, Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley)
- represents the NES Zapper Light Gun (because Duck Hunt was bundled with the gun and the NES when it came to USA)
- represents the arcade shooter genre
- represents troll characters in general as he was the first troll character in gaming history

All points but the last point are valid.

And Toad predates DHD, you know.
Constantly being told the princess is in another castle > Being laughed at for failing to shoot a duck. :troll:

That is true, and while I am a supporter of the Duck Hunt Dog, I support Sheriff more as the "historical Nintendo character" due to being Nintendo's first protagonist.

Toad tells Mario that the princess is in another castle 7 times. The dog laughs at you every single time you miss a duck.

Infinity > 7. :troll:

Who remembers Sheriff? Who actually played Sheriff? He is Japan-only. Duck Hunt Dog is international. A lot of people all over the world has actually played Duck Hunt. People still remember the dog before the Internet became commonplace and long before the Internet and Melee educated people about Sheriff. Sheriff is forgettable. The Dog is not. If Sheriff shows up in Smash, many people would be wondering who hell is he and why he is in the game instead of someone more famous like the Duck Hunt Dog. Sheriff doesn't have the star power or the name brand like Mr. Game & Watch, R.O.B., and the Duck Hunt Dog do.
