Can I be the "expert" in Mario?

----------

Falco:

Neutral B : Laser machine gun

Can be aimed during the noticeable start up. Deals 4% damage per bullet. Hold B to keep shooting

Upward B : Firebird

UM. It works like Guile's flash kick.

Downward B : Planted reflector

Falco throws a reflector. The reflector lasts for 9 seconds

Forward B : ??? Don't know what it should be. I would be fine with Falco Phantasm

It seems I missed a big Waddle Dee discussion a few pages back. Like I said, I am not expecting him, and I don't think Kirby needs any more characters (along with Zelda, Star Fox, or Mother). However, he would definitely be fun to play as if his appearance in Return to Dream Land is anything to go by.

Its funny because only a few days ago I lamented about there are so few characters left that I personally support for playable inclusion in Smash Bros. Though this is not including characters that I would like to see but know will most likely never get in Smash Bros. (Crono, Pico, and Leaf).

If you are fan of Kirby, I strongly recommend checking out Return to Dream Land. Its really fun to play with friends too.

Tbh honest, none of y'all are good enough to be experts. :troll:

Waddle dee can't be character *see toad moveset argument
:troll:

If there were to be a skyward sword stage, should the character models be redone to fit the art style of the game? Like how game and watch stage turns everyone flat, of course this will be more drastic though.

This is just replying to an older post

You're way off as to why I find it strange. Videogames, to me, are an art form in the same way music and films are. If Sakurai willingly chooses to make games that are easier, that's fine by me as that's the same thing as choosing to make edutainment videos or making shows not for your specific age group. Maybe I'm just irked more by how he implicitly calls the games he makes to be games he won't play himself as trash. Instead of saying that, he should've just omitted that part of the sentence.
He never said the games he doesn't play are bad. All he said was that the games he makes are not the games he plays.

And the reason I hate sales talk is because you ALWAYS use that as a sign of quality. Sure, Harry Potter may be one of the best selling book series, but it is almost universally agreed to be one of the best book series in terms of quality. Compare this to Twilight where its often considered to be just crap, but is still a best seller. For videogames, I haven't heard a lot of good things about the high selling Just Dance games, but there was plenty of praise for Okami which didn't sell a lot.
It's because you don't understand real quality. Let me explain.

What is a sale? It's someone buying something. But why did they buy it? People with little knowledge would say "Slick marketing." When people buy products, it's because they see value in the product. They see the product has quality. Naturally, if they think the product lacks quality, they avoid it. So you see, a sale is a measure of quality because people buy stuff when they see it as a quality product.

Take a look at your life. Do you buy things you don't like? Of course not. So, wouldn't it make sense that everyone else does it too? People obviously buy things they like. Now, you don't buy things you don't like right? Well, other people do too.

Now let's link this to your example. Twilight is a huge success. But you say it's bad. Well, how can it be? I see a lot off people buying it. This means that a lot of people see it as a quality product. A lot of people like it and the aggregate of those people made it a best seller. But what about Okami? Okami did very poorly. It even caused the downfall of Clover Studios. But, if it was a quality product, how come it didn't sell well? If it had quality, people would flock towards it? The opposite must be true. A lot of people didn't see it as quality, so they didn't buy it. They avoided it. So it's a low quality product. Note that quality is subjective from person to person. But sales are the total of all of those people who liked it. We can see Twilight has a lot of people who like it. But Okami doesn't.

Now let's move this out of the numbers. I can tell you working at a grocery store that a lot of women love Twilight. it spans all age groups. Of course, it's only women like you'd expect from a romance novel. A lot of people love Just Dance. I actually found out about the game from customers coming in. Heck, my family was obsessed with the game. Of course, no one ever talked about Okami.

BTW, take a look at the people who are telling you Twilight is bad. If they are men, than there is your problem.

I'm fine with the speculation as it is because we have little to nothing to go off of. Not only that, but speculation is kept in a single thread on this forum save for blog posts by thread regulars. Speculation gets outrageous when there are a lot of people doing the speculation. Next thing you know, people start to have insane wishes about the game.

Again, when I said kill speculation, I meant mindless speculation. Take the teasers from last month, it became clear that some of the character hints were red herrings. Over at SRK, the topic of discussion, save for the Gems, was about what the picture was hinting at. Now the topic is about if the newly revealed costumes are indicators of who's gonna be playable or not.

I think what I want, overall, is just better handling of the speculation. SRK broke up discussion into four topics: general discussion, rumors, speculation, and theories, gem system discussion, and the wishlisting thread and there is no "lobbying" for unconfirmed characters. Smashboards and just about every other forum let speculation go loose.
What you described about Capcom's process is everything you don't like.

Please, look at Olimar and tell me there isn't anything that isn't clear.

BTW, did you remember Sakurai teasing ANY character? We never knew about them until after they showed up. Sakurai never posted a vague picture and said "OH MY, I wonder who it is." He was always straight forward about what he showed. Yet, here you are, trying to tell me that posting red herring is perfectly clear. It's backwards.

The big difference is people are excited about Smash and not so much about games like TxSF. People go one and one about characters because they are excited. But never was the information not clear. it was the excitement about the game that we made up a bunch of questions.

And yes, you can believe what you want. But there are people out there who still believe the world is flat.

Meh... I play alone... so I guess I am not getting Kirby Returns to Dream Land. But I liked all the Kirby games I have actually played: Kirby's Dream Land, Kirby's Adventure, Kirby Super Star, and Kirby's Dream Land 3 (yes, I liked it!).

I've been trying to figure out how a Mask Young Link could work and this came to mind.

On the character select screen, young link would have his 3 transformations behind him ( Like PT has his pokemon). From there you click on one character. Which ever one you choose will be the only one you can use during the fight, so you aren't forced to play as all three of them (I know Shortie didn't like that with PT :troll: )

So no matter what you would have young link, and the option to transform into one (scrub, goron, zora) in game. Final smash would be Fierce Diety for all.

Thoughts?

@ Smashchu... I am curious about Skyward Sword... how did you get the game? It won't come out here till Sunday. Hell, it isn't even out in Japan yet!
Magic, of course.

Uhh, when was this.

I remember more frustration and you throwing your arms up and quitting than you deconstructing anything. You even went a while with ignoring my post. This ain't rocket science BTW, This is 1+1=2. Never understood how you can't get it.

Also, I would like the Zelda roster revamped in SSB4... with only Link and Zelda returning with Skyward Sword makeovers... plus Demise appearing as "the decloned Ganondorf with a sword" and Impa... and then add Tingle to rep his own spin-off franchise (like Yoshi) with his own icon (a Rupee).
Hell no. DO NOT replace Ganondorf with a one-shot final boss.

Can I be the "expert" on Donkey Kong Country?
No, because most of us who are over the age of 15 have probably played Donkey Kong Country. You can be the "expert" on DKC3 since I don't remember it that well (I liked it though), and seeing as how "big" the Dixie Kong and K. Rool debates may get...

And to those of you here who haven't played Donkey Kong Country, what the heck is wrong with you=???
You not playing Donkey Kong Country offend me!
I am not expecting Waddle Dee, and I don't think Kirby needs any more characters (along with Zelda, Star Fox, or Mother). However, he would definitely be fun to play as if his appearance in Return to Dream Land is anything to go by.
Yeah, Waddle Dee would be fun; most of us agree. Is he needed=??? No. In my opinion, the only characters that seem really "needed" are Mega Man and Ridley.
Its funny because only a few days ago I lamented about there are so few characters left that I personally support for playable inclusion in Smash Bros. Though this is not including characters that I would like to see but know will most likely never get in Smash Bros. (Crono, Pico, and Leaf).
There are fewer and fewer potential newcomer characters to support. Of the pre-Brawl characters I strongly wanted and still strongly want, only Dixie Kong, K. Rool, Ridley, Mega Man, and Geno remain. Everyone else I was only lightly for.

In all honesty, most of the other characters I support (Bowser Jr., Toad, Zoroark, Samurai Goroh, Victini, Starfy, the Balloon Fighter, Saki, Mach Rider, Sukapon, Takamaru, Slime, etc) I am only lightly for. I'm not crazy about them as I was pre-Brawl with Toon Link. I'm not sure if any of you remembering me during the pre-Brawl days on Smash Boards, but I was all over the Toon Link discussion. I ran the topic for a while, I responded to every post, and I monitored that thread like crazy! If hypothetically Ridley and Mega Man get in, I won't be that crazy for a character in smash again!

Paper Mario, Issac, and Pac-Man are characters that I really really want (to an extent that I never felt with them being playable in the pre-Brawl days), though. But again, not Toon Link bad. Maybe like Ike bad! I wanted Ike, but I wasn't crazy for him or Path or Radiance, (I should probably beat it instead of just playing it for 15 minutes, though) but I like him. It's kind of like the difference between liking Cars, and loving Up. :chuckle:

All magic comes with a price. So, what's the price you paid to get a game a few days before the release date? Your virginity? :troll:

If you love Kirby, you should definitely get Return to Dream Land. Also, I personally thought Dream Land 3 was among the best games in the series.

There should be a law against wanting Ganondorf removed from smash.
Have you Ganon-stomp frenzied someone in Melee=??? There are few things in life as enjoyable as that. Plus, his crotch thrusting taunt (especially in Melee) is totally boss!
DKC2 is more where it's at than DKC3. :p
Yeah Donkey Kong Country 2 we all remember. Donkey Kong Country 3 was nice, but unlike the first two Country games it didn't really add much, and not as memorable as the first two Country games. It was still a great game, though.

So... NO! (unless you get committee votes!) :p
All magic comes with a price. So, what's the price you paid to get a game a few days before the release date? Your virginity? :troll:
No, SmashChu now has periods despite being a male. Skyward Sword is actually the best single-player game ever, but SmashChu realizes the price he payed was not worth getting Skyward Sword, which is why he is hating on it...

I see Shoryuken links (God I hate arguing with those eltist morons about smash bros). Something tells me this thread is about to explode and get all crazy like the Oklahoma State/Iowa State game on right now, or going on a Victini fanboy thread and typing "ZUMG!!! ZOROARK AND GENESECT ARE WEI BETAH!!! VICTINI IS JEERRRST ANUTHAR PIKACHU CLUNE!!!!!!"" :troll:

But really, we should get back to talking about how Smash Bros. is colorist against purple dragons. :troll:

I'd be more concerned that Smash Bros. is racist against Black people, unless you count Ganondorf.:troll:

Mr. Game & Watch is black! So, not racist! LOL :troll:
He's not entirely Black though. He's lacking a dimension so he's not fully Black. Not only that, but for a game made by Japanese developers, there are a startling lack of Asians and big American stereotypes.

Well, is there any black characters Nintendo has made? In Mario Sunshine we have the black guy who you race...? American stereotypes? Sheriff. Asian?... we have the main character of Famicom Detective Club?

Well yes, Ganondorf is the only black character. But hey, at least every character in smash isn't racist like in Street Fighter. Seriously, Capcom made characters even racist against themselves (Japanese) in E.Honda, lol!

Plus in smash, there's all kinds of characters from Africa. Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Ganondorf, Sheik's tan, Peach's Daisy outfit, Lucario (don't tell me he totally doesn't live on Mount Kilimanjaro), Mr. Game and Watch... :awesome:

Snorlax is totally the American character, though!

If anyone should feel excluded from Smash it should be Australia and Canada. I mean, c'mon Australia! Antarctica has a character (the Ice Climbers) and your continent doesn't=??? But Canada is used to be excluding from everything (I guess we can give them Waluigi). That probably includis the next sentence. :troll: :awesome:  :chuckle:

This discussion should totally be about where each characters are from or live at from this point forward!

Canada doesn't exist though. Let's keep this discussion to the back room before this thread gets locked again for excessive derp.

What do you guys thinking about Mario being able to shoot up three fireballs at a time like in the Mario games? I remember being surprised you couldn't do that in Smash 64.

EDIT: Let's talk about how to make the current cast way less lame than they were in Brawl.

I like how the thread got locked while I wasn't here... :troll:

But seriously we should talk about Ridley. Ridley needs to happen. Every post should now end about how lame Brawl was because Ridley wasn't a playable character (amongst other things). For realz, Riley in Melee would equal PURE WIN!!! That would be about as epic as Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee, Solid Snake, and Captain Falcon all Falcon Punching a guy at the same time!

Yeah. I'm sorry wrong because other people argued a point against me and I didn't respond. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I MUST BE SO WRONG BECAUSE SHORYUKEN SAID SO. It's also funny I'm wrong about sales because I'm supposedly wrong about something else.

I don't think you want some of those people on your side.
Actually, you stupid ****, the theme of the post was "Smash Bros. Brawl is a ****ty game that doesn't deserve its praise." You can tell because I specifically mentioned that the game doesn't deserve its praise, implying a) it's a game and b) has received praise I don't feel is deserved. The other theme was "It's too ****ing bad a better developer with at least a close-to-triple digit IQ didn't get put on this project, because maybe, instead of just a commercially successful game, we may have had one that's both commercially successful and mechanically sound."
I'm not going to admit I'm wrong if you don't give me a reason. That is not how it works. You actually have to prove me wrong. I'm not going to say I'm wrong when you link me a shoryuken thread. I'm also not going to say I'm wrong when you make a bad argument so get that dream out of your head.

And yes, I'm sure I spelled the site's name wrong.

Lightsaber is where it's at! Did someone say a sword character with electric stun like qualities on all of their attacks? A marth/zss hybrid? How about an ike/pikachu hybrid? I think so.

*strums harp*

Bitter winds blow as the storm precludes the battle. Lightning fills the night sky as the earth begins to rattle.
Stars carry the tears of those caught slain. Unsuspecting victims in anguish and pain.
A war not our own from ages gone by, and in which the future seems no certainty to die.
On one side a panda, and the other a mouse. I need something to rhyme so I will use the word blouse.

In short, I see Kuma and Chu are fighting as usual.

So what is the topic exactly anyways? Can we not just go back to Waddle Dee? At least it was rather tame. Or how about we discuss the possibility of Waluigi appearing in Luigi's Mansion 2?
