So can you guys talk about mechanics, new item ideas, stage ideas, instead of the same characters we've been talking about this entire thread? (And the past thread for that matter)

If you talk mechanics, you'll lose half the thread within a half an hour. I'm down for Stages though, or AT/Pokeballs. I'll make my Pokeball list, like I did with my AT's.

well I didn't add in roy because of his lack of being in a game. but if he wasn't a direct clone of marth I could see him added if he's demanded enough. and I honestly know nothing about chrome. at all. I just know he's the new guy.

@Metal- IDK, of all the 3rd parties, Nintendo seems to be much closer to sega. We've already had things like the mario and sonic at the olympic games have their rosters together. Capcom doesn't seem very likely to work with nintendo on something.

I think most people in the Smash community would say they want it to be more like Melee than Brawl, they don't care about the items, and they want a lot of stages like FD, Smashville, BF.

Let's talk about Event Mode ideas.

@Metal- IDK, of all the 3rd parties, Nintendo seems to be much closer to sega. We've already had things like the mario and sonic at the olympic games have their rosters together.

They are, and what you said is probably a second Sonic rep's best bet of making it in.

But I just don't think it's very likely at all.

BTW, I don't really want a second Sonic rep if they're not Chaos 0, Shadow, Robotnik or Knuckles...

And thats particularly why we have the saaaaame people talking in this thread each day. The usual people in this thread are constantly talking about the same old characters and its hard to pull them away from discussing it. ._.

Also, I kind of have a roster list for SSB4 if you guys don't mind me posting it.. I think it is quite a bit more realistic than a lot of the one's people have posted. And I am not very emotionally invested in a lot of characters, especially clones, so I feel it is pretty objectively made.

For Pokeball ideas, I've been thinking about having Ditto in. He could transform into a character and deal some serious damage to the nearest one he finds.

@Steam: In regards to prediction, it's for the most part good. However, I have a few suggestions:

- Why Mewtwo, Lucario, and Zoroark? I don't see us getting three humanoid Pokemons in Smash. Swap Zoroark for Victini or drop either Mewtwo or Lucario.

- Drop Tails and add either Mega Man, Slime, or Layton.

zoroark and lucario were pretty much made to be in smash games, and mewtwo seems to have decent enough demand... victini is certainly possible though.

@Arcadenik: I'M JUST CURIOUS WHAT YOU WOULD SAY TO THIS, but wouldn't the novelty of having the duck hunting dog wear off in like five minutes? You don't like him because of anything he would offer as a playable character outside of one taunt. Would a Duck Hunt stage/Assist Trophy really not satisfy your needs for that dog. 'COURSE I'M BEING INCREDIBLY PRESUMPTUOUS HERE.

Oasis can easily respond to that with something like, "Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should."

With that said, Duck Hunt Dawg is still my most wanted retro character as of right now (other than Mach Rider and maybe Takamaru).

To add on to what steam said just because they have similar bodytypes doesn't mean they have similar playstyles. Like, infact there totally diffrent.

Mewtwos uses telekinesis and psychic abilitys.
Lucarios a swift martial artist
and zoroark fights in a feral, beast like stance and abuses his control over the opponents sight.

Besides, doesn't zoroark fight on all fours half the time?

No one cares about DHD to give him a spot. Yea you can make a moveset for him, but he doesn't have enough merits to earn one or be in smash.

I don't think this entirely rules out the possibility of Mega Man. He has a very long history with Nintendo that few third-party series can boast to match or surpass and is one of the most wanted potential newcomers for SSB4 (not to mentioned by far the most wanted third-party). Capcom has also expressed interest in getting him in, specifically Ono who said his preference for a Capcom rep is Mega Man (and he's the Street Fighter IV director!) and Sven has contacted Capcom of Japan to get Mega Man in Smash.

Disagree with this, Capcom hasn't ignored megaman just yet, the fact that he isn't in UmvC3 has nothing to do with it, it may be a "publicity stunt" for all we know.

And the problem with Victini is that it's yet another mouse. The whole "body-type" argument applies to him with Pikachu and Pichu as well. That's why I would go for Genesect. Unique body type, unique move choices, and so on. Could be rather interesting.

And I think MegaMan has the best chance of being a Capcom rep than anybody else.

Obscurity is EXACTLY why he has a better chance, why? because Sakurai is looking for "lesser" Nintendo franchises since he stated its currently lacking them, besides, he's retro so you can't say demand for him is what will decide his chances, NOBODY demanded ROB and G&W and they got in.

Thats a really small minority that wants him. That and over mach rider or takamaru as a retro character? Its not worth the effort of forcing a moveset for him either. Atleast not while those to are there. They just seem more deserving as a retro character.

Game and watch had his own mini series and ROB was mostly put in for the plot of SSE. That and ya know, hes a robot. It was really easy for him to make a moveset for him.

DHD just seems boring as a retro character. His moveset could be made to be like an attack dog, but that just sounds boring compared to a motorcycle rider who can't be destroyed and survived in a post-apocalyptic world taking over my aliens. I'm not saying hes bad, but theres more deserving spots then him.

If you elaborated on your position I could understand your reasoning better.

Its not Sakurai who has planned on it, but rather Capcom. Many people at Capcom want Mega Man in Smash Bros. and think he would be a perfect fit for it.

I can't really explain it. Its sort of like how I feel Victini is more likely thanks to having a similar body shape as Pichu.

As I have said before, Mega Man is the only character that I am feeling absolutely confident in regards to them showing up as a newcomer.

This could make a good Poke Ball IMO. May be biased, as he's my favorite Pokemon, but still.

May as well post this here. Here's my Poke Ball idea for everyone's favorite forgotten puffer fish, Qwilfish.

Basically, you'd use Qwilfish as a club. You'd pick it up (like Bonsly), only by the tail. Basically, its move would be Toxic Spikes. You'd be able to hit the opponent similar to a Home Run Bat, only do less initial damage, but the opponent would then be clouded in a purple poisonous aura that would damage similar to the poison gas in the SSE. However, if the opponent attacks you while you're holding Qwilfish, he will drop off of you, and disappear by diving into the stage. The poison will keep damaging the foe until Qwilfish is removed.


Any thoughts on this?

Sakurai doesn't add obscure characters for the sake of their obscurity. We have Pit, Ice Climbers, R.O.B., and G&W because they are interesting fighters. That's why he looks back at old characters. To find hidden gems that could offer a nice moveset. KIND OF. Pit was already popular, and ROB and G&W are also celebrations of Nintendo history.

INCIDENTALLY, I wonder if Takamaru would count as the "ROB and G&W" of retro choices. Perhaps a better representative of the FDS? WAY better than Diskun.

How do you know that? You aren't in Japan, if you are going by this board then you are clearly wrong, read what I posted, he's obscure, he doesn't need popularity to be considered.
