I hope both games are heavy on the multiplayer regardless. And yeah, I agree. That's why I preferred Melee's. I think they had the right idea with the SSE, but it wasn't implemented in a Nintendo-related way. I mean, they could've just made a Kirby game from it and outside of a few enemies/characters(like Ganondorf), it would've been nearly the same...

Which is fairly sad. The 3DS version is supposed to have customizable content, so a customizable character is possible. Perhaps a Mii?
Yes, and I'm hoping some Nintendo environments actaully get implemented along with a series of enemies, like the Goombas for example were good but get rid of the generic characters and add more Nintendo based ones.

As for the 3DS I believe it will have a customizable if the Wii-U version does indeed support it, I mean it wouldn't be fair just to have it Wii-U exclusive, and considering the fact that Iwata mentioned that both versions would intertwine in some way or form I believe the customizable Mii's would fit that description perfectly, meaning you could raise them in one version and simply "transfer" to the other and play with them in multiplayer modes, that's what I think anyway.

Another thing I don't see much on forums like these is single-player modes(aside from Adventure/SSE, of course) such as Classic, Target Test etc.
What does everyone think should be changed, added, etc.?

I just hope they bring back Board the Platforms, Race to the Finish, and individualized Target Tests.

Well, we have discussed them in the past, you just missed out is all, for single-player modes I would definetly like to see Race To The Finish like Melee's but longer, as for Break The Targets I'd like to see every character have their own unique stage based on their playstyle, oh and Board The Plaforms should return as well.

Yeah. The problem with Brawl's Target Test is that unlike Melee, it didn't make you use your character's skills. You just used the items lying around. My fastest Target Test on Level 5 is Jiggs because of that.

Haha, I wouldn't mind universal Target stages but having them like in melee would definetly add some challenge, uniqueness and some diversity.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Brawl's was better. Having a target test like that gives you a lot of ways to play the stage rather than one character who only plays one Target test.

Break the Targets?

I'm only guessing here, but maybe Sakurai made them that way in Brawl due to Co-op?

Also, not testing a character's skill? I don't think that really matters entirely seeing as you could have tested the same skills on any one of those BoT stages in Brawl. Having being catered to a specific character I don't think makes much of a difference.

I do agree that it would be nice to have more character specific ones back, but I still find BoT to have the same uses as it ever had. Either way I'm not really expecting for BoT to go back the way it was before Brawl.

Well, even if it doesn't really test the characters' moves, in my opinion, it still adds a little charm to the game. I see where you're coming from though, ---, and you may be right. There may be too many characters now for Target Test to go back to individualization. But I still thought it added a bit of flair and charm to the games.

Here is my roster:

Mario:
Mario
Luigi
Peach
Bowser
Waluigi: it seems logical to add him at this point. His moveset could be based on all the spinoff games. He could have a Mario Kart attack, similar to Wario's motorcycle. He could also have a baseball bat, tennis racket similar to peach's, and a move that somehow referenced Mario Party. Maybe his up B?
Rosalina: Rosalina is a very important character in Galaxy. Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are two of the best games on the Wii, and are very important games in Mario's history. Rosalina is a logical add.

Paper Mario:
Paper Mario: Another original moveset, and a completley new playstyle is possible here. He'd be able to use his hammer and the Final Smash could be extremely creative.

WarioWare:
Wario

Yoshi:
Yoshi

Donkey Kong:
Donkey Kong
Diddy Kong
King K. Rool: he's one of the few long time Nintendo villains who has never made a Smash appearance. Chance for an original moveset as well.

Zelda:
Link
Zelda/Shiek
Ganondorf
Toon Link

Metroid:
Samus/Zero Suit Samus
Ridley: does this really need to be explained?

Kid Icarus:
Pit

Ice Climbers:
Ice Climbers

ROB:
ROB

Kirby:
Kirby
Meta Knight
King Dedede
Yarn Kirby: There is potential for a completley original and fun moveset here. Epic yarn was a wonderful game and should be represented.

Pikmin:
Olimar

Star Fox:
Fox
Falco
Wolf
Krystal: Along with Ridley, Brawl's biggest snub. Time to bring her in.

F-Zero:
Captain Falcon

Pokemon:
Pikachu
Red (Pokemon Trainer)
Lucario
Jigglypuff
Black: Another trainer that would play like Red. Gives the opportunity for three current gen Pokemon reps.

Fire Emblem:
Marth
Ike
3DS Fire Emblem rep: Ike and Marth are different enough to keep both. But with the new game coming out, and since Nintendo seems to use the Smash games to promote this series, it's likely that a character from the new game will be included.

Mother:
Ness
Lucas

Game and Watch:
Mr. Game and Watch

Fling Smash:
Zip: Zip would be one of the most unique characters in the game. As a brand new Nintendo franchise, Fling Smash could use the exposure. Zip could be unique in that he is slow on land, but the fastest aerial character in the game. He could have very powerful aerial smash attacks as well.

Chibi-Robo:
Chibi-Robo: It's time this franchise got some love. Chibi-Robo has two games out now, with a third rumored, yet it's still almost unheard of. Nintendo would do well to promote this character. Chibi-robo is an endearing character that is easy to like. He'd be very original.

Captain Rainbow:
Captain Rainbow: It seems he'd be perfect for a Smash game. He is a superhero in his own game, so he'd already have a decent moveset. Besides, Rainbow vs Falcon would be really funny.

Doki Doki Panic:
Imajin: This would just be epic. Doki Doki Panic is the game that became Super Mario Bros 2 here in the States, and Imajin is the character that became Mario. The game (and character as well, iirc) was created by Miyamoto. Without Doki Doki Panic, the Mario series would never have had shy guys, birdo, or anything else introduced in that game. Peach wouldn't be pulling turnips in Smash and the SSE may have a different name (the world you entered when you walked through all those doors in Mario 2 is called the Subspace). Imajin's game is a huge part of Nintendo history.

Wii Etc
Mii: I'm actually thinking of a pre-designed, generic Mii rather than one of your own Mii's on the console. It would have moves based on wii sports, wii fit, wii sports resort, wii play, etc.

3rd Party:
Sonic
Snake
Viewtiful Joe: no third party character would fit better. His moveset in Viewtiful Joe would fit seamlessly into Smash. His game won several GOTY awards as a GameCube exclusive and every single game he has been featured in, with the exception of Marvel vs Capcom 2, has been on a Nintendo platform (sometimes exclusively).

Hehe, perhaps I should get a Tien/Trunks avatar?

Yeah, you guys are a weird awesome bunch with DBZ, there used yo' be this one user here, he was the ultimate Goku fan and Iblis being Vegeta was always schooling him.

:phone:
Sorry for thw supah late response, I'm just getting' home from school (juniors FTW!).

But hell yeah, you should get that avi! Personally, I'd get a Tien one so that three-eyed mofo can finally get his hard-earned respect

And also I bet you're referring to Chris The Ripper? I used to lurk this thread for like over a month before I actually joined lol

You win internetz for being someone other than me to actually want and mention him often...

But, as Omega said, he's unlikely, especially compared to Mega Man :urg:

:awesome: Waluigi over Bowser Jr. or Toad? I don't think so even Koopa's more deserving then him he appears in every main Mario game.

My thinking is that there are plenty of main Mario game reps. Waluigi would rep the spin off games (mario party, sports, etc).

I guess he could, If they made a Wario Land 6 and he was in it I think his chances would go up a lot in my book.

Yes, but Waluigi seems very unlikly since he is bound to be represented within the Mario franchise and Tiad and Bowser Jr. have way more priority than him, heck even Paper Mario does.

I still stand by my thoughts on Starfy.
He has a really good chance with his most recent game being international.
I even thought of a moveset for him. I think he has that good a chance.

Well, Starfy would be a nice choice, but it seems Sakurai gave him a poor display in Brawl, who knows, all I want is Lip, now she is definetly interesting.

more deserving
No offense to you bro but this argument really is overrated and should stop being used...

"More deserving" is subjective. Anyone could think a character is more "deserving" than another. I could easily make up some random criteria (a.k.a BS) and use that in vain to show how some character is "more deserving" than the other. And it would still only be my opinion.

And you could argue any character is "deserving" as long as they're an actual VG character and have at least somewhat of a prominent role in their own series.

Well, while that may be true, that may be because over half of SSBB's intended audience didn't know who Starfy was until Brawl. Plus, you can't really take a small starfish and make him as powerful as Andross, can you? XD

Well no you can't, but like I've said if Sakurai is creative he could definetly give a said character an interesting moveset regardless of body type, I believe Starfy would be a nice choice if Slime didn't get in.

Another thing what if we get Meloetta revealed before Keldeo in 2012 will that hurt Zoroark or Victini's champions?

Well, if the Wii-U does indeed support 6 remotes then I believe it to be so, although I can say for sure that you will be able to use 4 Wii-Motes and 1 tablet which would make it 5 players, another tablet could make it possible indeed, 3v3 would be epic son.

I didn't say Starfy was a bad choice, I'm just saying his Assist Trophy couldn't have been very powerful. Honestly, I think Starfy could, in theory, be the next WTF character, following in G&W and ROB's footsteps.

Good question, uh, I dunno, since Victini and Zoroark will still probably be TPC's main guys by then, I can't see it hurting their chances too much.

It'll for sure at least be a dark horse candidate, though.

Well to be frank, Starfy does hold popularity in Japan which helps in by a good demeanor and considering the fact that Sakurai already acknowledges him means he's one step closer to possibly being playable, and since he was AT material he could indeed become a "WTF!" choice like Little Mac in a sense, he has potential indeed.

Glad to see I'm not the only person who thinks so. I also think Zoroark has the best potential of the 5th Gen. Pokemon so far because it's the only one so far with a movie.
