I see there being backlash for virtually any SE character being picked. I mean, you add Slime, WHAT? NO BLACK MAGE!? You add Black Mage UMMMM? WHY?? You pick Cloud WTH!? SLIME OR BLACK MAGE, PLEASE.
True, but I think regardless of what happens we will have both Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy content together in some way. Either way people will get over it. Too bad Chrono didn't have a better chance...
Or Capcom can give a big middle finger to fans and throw in Servbot as a character instead.
If we're going with unlikely characters, let's make me happy and pick Jill Valentine. Lord knows what I want to see in Smash, I won't. I'm looking at you Krystal. AND you, Deoxys.

For Nintendo's sake, I sure hope they don't downgrade the system. That was the whole selling point of the Wii U: HD graphics, and a system powerful enough to be a PS3.5. If they take that away, then I see a fairly abysmal future for the Wii U. Of course, I could be wrong. Still, at the risk of being selfish and shallow, I really don't want Nintendo to downgrade their system.
Actually, Professor Layton would never be an Assist Trophy, why? Simple, because it just won't benefit both parties, the negociations concerning Level-5 with Sakurai wouldn't be worth the trouble and money just to add him as a simple AT, it wouldn't be worth it whatsoever do put a 3rd party character in such a situation.
Of course anybody can be interested in Smash, but the fact of the matter is, not many are willing to show it, if this were the case we would have a ton of 3rd party characters trying to be in Smash and all the 3rd party companies trying to win Sakurai's interest, which is something I haven't seen yet.
She is actually pretty popular, so much that she was in a Namco X Capcom game in Japan.
Wow, where did such an article come to pass about Nintendo's system doing such bad? Hopefully that won't be the case, I am actually looking forward to see if they can actually make it a "beast" of a sysymtem without any complications or flaws, it's kinda of a shame since it's suppose to be a next generation console, even though it's the dawn of the next era; there is no excuse for the Wii-U not to be at least as powerful as the PS3 and 360, heck, it shouldn't even be considered near them, it should surpass them by a large degree, Nintendo definetly does have me worried, I am hoping they will make a right decision and either, fix the problems they are facing with the Wii-U or push the release date back a little, that way it would be fine, as for Smash at E3 2012, yeah I can pretty much say it will probably steal the show and probably gain the most attention if we do indeed get a Smash 4 cinematic trailer, maybe even overlook Microsoft's rumored system.

That wouldn't be as community-dividing as when say, Freddy Krueger got announced for Mortal Kombat (trust me, I was there), but it would still be pretty bad.

Yup, it only makes sense to do so, swing as we already got Green Hill Zone in Brawl as Classic Sonic's stage; it's only fair we should get the most iconic stage related to Modern Sonic, seeing as Sonic Generations is relevant with it, I could definetly see it happening indeed, it would be one of my most enjoyed stages as well.

well considering she's been confirmed for Mario Kart 7 after having appeared in MKW too, this might get her chances of appearing in spinoffs higher

You want to see game rage? Do that. Add ANY Capcom character over Megaman, and you'll have a group of pissed off, hyper sensative Megaman fans who think Capcom is "ACTUALLY KILLING HIM OFF!".
