Or Knuckles/Tails?
As much as I would love both, neither of them are likely at all. I can't rule them out, though.

Toon Link just brings a lot more aesthetically to the table than Young Link. I don't know about y'all, but I loved seeing the cartoony particle effects from Toon Link's bombs when they exploded in Brawl. Young Link is pretty much just that... a younger version of Link. No other pop to him or anything like that. He wasn't even that good in Melee.

By 2014, assuming we're all not dead by the end of next year, I'll have been out of college for about a year or so.
Haha, imagine all the SSB4 commotion that's going to happen, all of a sudden, BAM we never get to see what could become Smash 4, I am hopeful we will see the day of Smash 4 and finally playing as Lip and Dog Hunt Dog. :awesome:

If all we're going to get from these different Link characters is a clone moveset, I would rather part with them. Give me Tingle please.
Yeah, I'd rather have Tingle. They're both short and green. NOT MUCH OF A LOSS.

Sakurai has said that he feels it is important to have both an adult and young Link, though. Which would be cool if they didn't have to be CLONES, but that may be what we should expect. I'm not sure if the Toon Link is going to be popping up in handhelds anymore though. We've been getting that style on handhelds for the sake of simplicity no doubt, but Ocarina of Time 3D shows it's not necessary anymore. I DUNNO.

I guess only a chat between Sakurai and Aonuma is going to determine the FATE of how LoZ is represented in Sm4sh.

I do love me some Meowth. I'm trying to get a shiny one via all the egg tricks. Is no fun.

Arcade, how long have you been around the smash speculatory scene?

I have this link where both you and SmashChu are nerding over some Melee translations, I assumed they're decently aged.

LOL I remember this one. It was insane back then (and it is still insane today). Let's see... I started speculating seriously after Brawl came out... but before that, I was just being a fanboy who requested any Nintendo-only characters I wanted in SSB3, beginning in 2002:

- Deoxys
- Diddy Kong
- Dixie Kong
- Duck Hunt Dog
- Isaac
- King Dedede
- King K. Rool
- Little Mac
- Meowth
- Olimar
- Pit
- Tingle
- Toad
- Toon Link (aka "Wind Waker Link" or "Cel-Shaded Link" or "New Young Link")
- Wario
- Zero Suit Samus (aka "Justin Bailey Samus" or "Naked Samus" or "Suitless Samus")

I didn't support Meta Knight because I didn't think he was important... the only Kirby game I played before Brawl came out was Kirby's Dream Land and Kirby's Adventure.

I supported Zero Suit Samus and not Ridley because I thought Ridley was too big and not important and Samus without her Power Suit would be interesting. I just didn't expect her to be a transformation, I kinda expected her to be like a different version of Samus, you know like how we have Mario and Dr. Mario and Link and Young Link? The Metroid games I played before Brawl was Metroid (Ridley is just as important as Kraid, no big deal), Metroid Prime (Ridley is too big here), Metroid Fusion (Ridley is too big here, too), and Metroid: Zero Mission (Ridley is still too big here).

I was a huge fan of the original Donkey Kong Country games on the SNES so of course I supported both Kongs and the villain. I was disappointed when Diddy Kong was the only newcomer... and it was even more disheartening to hear that Dixie Kong was planned to be in Brawl.

I supported Meowth because he was rumored to be in the original and I always felt he should have been in Melee, too... his Melee trophy could be obtained if you cleared All-Star with all 25 characters... and I have always liked Meowth since I started watching the anime in 1998. I supported Deoxys because he was the star of the latest movie at the time and I thought it would be pretty unique with the different forms. I didn't support Pokemon Trainer because I didn't think Red/Ash should be fighting and it would be weird to have Red/Ash use a random Pokemon for some moves (Up B to have Red/Ash fly with Pidgey, things like that).

I supported Toon Link because I liked The Wind Waker. But of course everyone shot him down, saying "but the graphics don't fit!" They said that cel-shaded Young Link would look out of place when compared with realistic Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf. And of course, everyone were supporting Tetra (hypocrisy), Midna, Zant, Vaati (hypocrisy), Skull Kid, and Mask Link (Young Link who can transform into Deku Link, Goron Link, Zora Link), and Oni Link (Fierce Deity Link). I also supported Tingle because I thought he would offer more moves and not be useless if his balloons popped like Balloon Fighter would (according to Sakurai).

I supported Wario because I liked Wario Land 3 and I wanted to see him have a moveset based on his wacky transformations. I was so disappointed at how he turned out... a completely made-up moveset based on his personality? Really, Sakurai?

ChronoBound announced earlier today he wouldn't be back until late October of this month unless some rumor came up.
Oh he did? Bummer, he was a good debater, although I hated his obsession with Roy. Well it'll be nice when he comes back.

Also I thought you'd have something to say about my Jigglypuff news SSBF. Oh well, we all know it won't do much, but it's better then nothing.

Because it's just another event like Pieman said, it isn't significant, besides why are you even worried about Jiggs, she'll most likely be in anyway.!?

Ive been part of the Nintendo/Smash community since 2001. I was an active participant in much of the pre-Brawl era on Nsider. Than I came here towards the middle of Brawls development. I was a rabid supporter of Wolf, Ridley, and Megaman. Wolf I supported the greatest of all of them, and luckily it paid off for me. >_>

How about this:
In Super Smash Bros. 4, EVERY character should have 12 palettes WITH custom palettes. What do you guys think?

I know but I wanted to show she was gaining some relevancy, in the mist of all the unneeded bashing people were giving it. Besides I did say all that in my posts, which I see people yet again didn't see. Especially the parts about character selection. :p

That and I'm excited that VGL will be doing anything Pokemon related, it was the game series that defined my childhood. Although I will admit that I wish they would consentrate on the games more then the cartoon. In fact I'm just as excited about it as I was when Tommy Tallarico contacted me to help with VGL.

I don't mind having two Links... and I do prefer Toon Link over adult Link in Brawl and I preferred adult Link over Young Link in Melee. I just want Toon Link to be a little bit different.

B - Fire & Ice Arrows (it randomly switches between fire and ice, it would be an updated version of Young Link's Fire Arrow... why Toon Link has regular arrows like Link is beyond me... Toon Link had fire & ice arrows in The Wind Waker)

Side B - Magic Boomerang (you can control its path like PK Thunder, this boomerang is based off the Magic Boomerang in the Oracle games)

Up B - Sword Spin (same as in Brawl but then he could have had Deku Leaf as a parachute, similar to how Mr. Game & Watch's Up B move is)

Down B - Bomb (it's good enough)

Final Smash - Four Links (he should have had this... you know how it is like to play with the Ice Climbers, right? Imagine playing with four Toon Links at once... at least Four Swords is relevant again thanks to the upcoming DSiWare game next week so hopefully Sakurai will notice it this time.

But didn't you just say that the songs are all from video games but only Jigglypuff's song is from the anime? You said that the Team Rocket song is from the games, not from the anime.

???

I said the songs are all from the games, except for the Jigglypuff song (which is being done as a joke) and maybe the TR part (it's not been confirmed yet but based on TT's explaination it doesn't seem to be).

Anyway as I fan of Pokemon I don't like mixing the games and the cartoon together, as so far the cartoon has given Pokemon a bad rep.

Oh, I'm sorry, do you support him as well?

Well, that's makes for of us, I like your Gary sig, I always wanted Gary?Blue in Smash, I wouldn't mind having him instead of Red since Pokemon does seem to favor 1st gen's in Smash.

Hell yeah I do!

Ever since I found out about PT in Brawl, I always wanted Gary/Blue in so that I could play as Blastoise. :)

Can you blame Sakurai for that, though? 1st gen is baws.

I used to lurk these boards way back in '09 to see if there might be a Smash 4 and what were the best Brawl characters.

Smash has been in my blood since 2000 (I was five years old the first time I played Smash 64).

I supported Ridley, K. Rool, Saki, Mewtwo (his return, of course) and Knuckles way back when on YouTube (mainly on the SSB4 character ideas vids). I still do support them now (well, Knuckles to a lesser extent).

@Arcade Okay, so you weren't around for any Pre-Melee hype? That's where I'm really interested. I was around for the 2006/07 part of Pre-Brawl hype as a kid messing around on Nsider, so I know about most of the hyped characters then. I remember Geno having a lot of support, R.O.B having fans, and Megaman basically being the "shoe in" third, third party. I also remember being one of the few (I remember anyway) suggesting Lucario. I do remember Gardevior and Blaziken fans. How popular was Deoxys as a choice back then? I suppose my earliest SSB3 roster was made between 02 - 04. I was kid making up my own Smash bros. I remember wanting Charizard, and Bub and Bob from Bubble Bobble ^-^

Anyways, Pre-Melee hype always has interested me. I remember Chrono talking about it.

I used to lurk these boards way back in '09 to see if there might be a Smash 4 and what were the best Brawl characters.
Way back? How old ARE you?

This is almost unreal. For years, I thought I was the only Duck Hunt Dog supporter. I remember I used to support him all the time on the old Nsider board from 2002 to 2007 (when it closed down). I got flamed all the time... everyone were telling me that it was a stupid idea and they listed reasons why the dog should not be in Brawl:

- he never fought before (counter: R.O.B.)
- he runs on four legs, he can't stand on two legs (counter: Ivysaur)
- he had only one game (counter: Ice Climbers)
- he doesn't have any moves! (counter: R.O.B.)
- adding him will hurt the sales! (counter: adding a character does not hurt the sales any more than NOT adding a character)
- it is a stupid/bad idea! (counter: it is your opinion, not Sakurai's opinion)
- I hate him! (counter: so? you aren't Sakurai)
- he looks boring and wouldn't have an unique moveset (counter: then you aren't creative enough to think outside the box)
- no one is asking for him! (counter: just because a character isn't heavily requested doesn't mean they can't get in)
- he isn't relevant (counter: Ice Climbers, R.O.B., Mr. Game & Watch, etc.)

Yes to all of this, especially the final smash. If only because samey FS's kind of suck. Also, if Toon Link can split into four, then Link should turn into Great Diety.

I don't think this thread has discussed it in a while so I'm bringing it up: what are people's thoughts on the Charizard/Ridley conundrum? On the surface it's not much different than Ness/Lucas, Fox/Wolf, or Link/Toon Link, but I don't consider any of those characters to be safe, either. We know they'll have to share at least one move (Fly).

If, say, Lucario came back, here's a new moveset for him. I changed Bv and FS:
(B)v: Circle Throw
When Lucario is attacked, he'll grab the opponent, swing him.her in one complete circle, and throw them on the opposite side of where the opponent attacked him. Example:
Att>Luke=Luke>Att
And as for FS...
Aura Storm (Redone)
Make it faster moving. the move itself isn't all that bad, except it's a b**** to hit. More dmg would help as well.

His smash attacks need some lifts too. Overall, he's still an awesome player.

- he never fought before (counter: R.O.B.) R.O.B. is a disgrace
- he runs on four legs, he can't stand on two legs (counter: Ivysaur) Ivysaur has vines that can function as an extra pair of limbs
- he had only one game (counter: Ice Climbers) fine, so do dozens of other characters, and hundreds with more than one
- he doesn't have any moves! (counter: R.O.B.) R.O.B. is a disgrace
- adding him will hurt the sales! (counter: adding a character does not hurt the sales any more than NOT adding a character) not when all of the characters are undesirable has-beens; and even out of the undesirable wtf has-beens, there are better choices than DHD
- it is a stupid/bad idea! (counter: it is your opinion, not Sakurai's opinion) I'd like to imagine that Sakurai thinks it's stupid
- I hate him! (counter: so? you aren't Sakurai) Sakurai hates him, too
- he looks boring and wouldn't have an unique moveset (counter: then you aren't creative enough to think outside the box) DHD is too far outside the box...either he'd be boring, or not a fighter
- no one is asking for him! (counter: just because a character isn't heavily requested doesn't mean they can't get in) fine, what ultimately matters is who Sakurai thinks is cool
- he isn't relevant (counter: Ice Climbers, R.O.B., Mr. Game & Watch, etc.) if he gets in, it will ONLY be on relevancy, not because he's interesting...and I certainly won't play him, just like I refuse to play R.O.B (also, R.O.B. is a disgrace)
Reponses in green.

In all honesty? WHY? He's about as flat, uninspiring a character as Nintendo could possibly conceive. Except Tetris. Give Duck Hunt a stage, like Tetris. They'd be excellent stages. But don't put a character in just because they barely qualify as a character.

Ridley is going to have to set himself apart from Charizard, but I really don't think that'd be hard to do. They're very different in appearance and personality. Not to mention there's loads to work with just by their body types.

I don't know if the very fact that they're both flying dragons is a count against them, though. So far every non-humanoid added has had a very unique appearance. And while intra-franchise similarities tend to be acceptable (Ike/Marth, Lucas/Ness, Mario/Luigi, Link/Toon Link, Fox/Wolf) because the fans of said franchise know the difference...inter-franchise similarities will just make fans of one go "wtf is this clone doing here" of the other. As much as I think PT is an excellent concept, I think we might not be seeing him again if Ridley makes it in Sm4sh.

I always saw Eevee as a character that should have special transforms, Like Shiek=Zelda, ZSamus=Samus. U could either change on the spot, or battle with Eevee. I made a moveset, but I gtg find it -_-
That actually doesn't sound bad at all, if Eevee had a transformation within a trainer haha, that would be so weird but totally cool.

I have been toying with the idea of a "Stage Poll", and I sort of need help with the idea.

Which do you think is a better idea? Specifically naming places (Ex: Bowser's Castle) or Just naming a game (Ex: Super Mario Galaxy Stage) OR should I do a conbination of both? This is a much much bigger undertaking than a simple character poll, so I'll need SOME help.

XD trainer Micheal, please! That's a trainer I'll agree with (I want his hair, dunno y >_>) But either with or without and trainer Eevee would be fine. And u should combine both of them, Short.
