I do love me some Meowth. I'm trying to get a shiny one via all the egg tricks. Is no fun.
Arcade, how long have you been around the smash speculatory scene?
I have this link where both you and SmashChu are nerding over some Melee translations, I assumed they're decently aged.

LOL I remember this one. It was insane back then (and it is still insane today). Let's see... I started speculating seriously after Brawl came out... but before that, I was just being a fanboy who requested any Nintendo-only characters I wanted in SSB3, beginning in 2002:
- Deoxys
- Diddy Kong
- Dixie Kong
- Duck Hunt Dog
- Isaac
- King Dedede
- King K. Rool
- Little Mac
- Meowth
- Olimar
- Pit
- Tingle
- Toad
- Toon Link (aka "Wind Waker Link" or "Cel-Shaded Link" or "New Young Link")
- Wario
- Zero Suit Samus (aka "Justin Bailey Samus" or "Naked Samus" or "Suitless Samus")
I didn't support Meta Knight because I didn't think he was important... the only Kirby game I played before Brawl came out was Kirby's Dream Land and Kirby's Adventure.
I supported Zero Suit Samus and not Ridley because I thought Ridley was too big and not important and Samus without her Power Suit would be interesting. I just didn't expect her to be a transformation, I kinda expected her to be like a different version of Samus, you know like how we have Mario and Dr. Mario and Link and Young Link? The Metroid games I played before Brawl was Metroid (Ridley is just as important as Kraid, no big deal), Metroid Prime (Ridley is too big here), Metroid Fusion (Ridley is too big here, too), and Metroid: Zero Mission (Ridley is still too big here).
I was a huge fan of the original Donkey Kong Country games on the SNES so of course I supported both Kongs and the villain. I was disappointed when Diddy Kong was the only newcomer... and it was even more disheartening to hear that Dixie Kong was planned to be in Brawl.
I supported Meowth because he was rumored to be in the original and I always felt he should have been in Melee, too... his Melee trophy could be obtained if you cleared All-Star with all 25 characters... and I have always liked Meowth since I started watching the anime in 1998. I supported Deoxys because he was the star of the latest movie at the time and I thought it would be pretty unique with the different forms. I didn't support Pokemon Trainer because I didn't think Red/Ash should be fighting and it would be weird to have Red/Ash use a random Pokemon for some moves (Up B to have Red/Ash fly with Pidgey, things like that).
I supported Toon Link because I liked The Wind Waker. But of course everyone shot him down, saying "but the graphics don't fit!" They said that cel-shaded Young Link would look out of place when compared with realistic Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf. And of course, everyone were supporting Tetra (hypocrisy), Midna, Zant, Vaati (hypocrisy), Skull Kid, and Mask Link (Young Link who can transform into Deku Link, Goron Link, Zora Link), and Oni Link (Fierce Deity Link). I also supported Tingle because I thought he would offer more moves and not be useless if his balloons popped like Balloon Fighter would (according to Sakurai).
I supported Wario because I liked Wario Land 3 and I wanted to see him have a moveset based on his wacky transformations. I was so disappointed at how he turned out... a completely made-up moveset based on his personality? Really, Sakurai?
