I seem to recall that it was said that MK can't approach a Ness nilly willy for a couple reasons, Fair certainly being one of them. They also said itwould nearly be even if it wasn't for the fact that one grab from MK sends Ness offstage and we all know who wins there.

the thing is, even if he cant approach, we cant approach at all. his shuttle beats everything. so if he gets a % lead or a stock lead, its pretty much game for us.
its not even, we cant punish half his stuff like f-tilt, dsmash, uair and dair, he has an invincible up-b from the ground, we have no answer to nado from below, imba dash grab
i dont know which mk would say that, he probably just lost to a really good ness and is trying to make himself not look bad

Ness' dair hits through MK's tornado if timed right, fyi. So Ness does have an answer to a tornado from below. In fact Ness can probably perform a Heaven's Descent (Offensive PKT from high in the air to prevent juggling) to counter a tornado and uair from below, utilizing tailwhips incase MK is smart enough to attack the PKT head.

SH dair counters dsmash if timed right, Ness will just hop over the slash at the peak of his SH then he'll unleash his foot's fury as MK is missing.

Mk is more mobile with nado than our dair, he can just avoid the weak spot...

if we pkt he has time to cancel then punish, or shuttle while in the air

SH dair is super risky, and its only rewarded if we predict his dsmash, otherwise he can shield grab :/ Mk's only really dsmahs if theyre playing aggressive, otherwise they can just camp/pressure us.

Seem to recall that PKF beats out every single one of MK's specials, including shuttle loop.

But yeah, you have it. No-one is perfect, therefore MK can be beaten. Albeit difficult when versing a good Mk player but it can be done.

Not that I completely disagree, I was just always under the impression that PKF beat every one of his specials. I think I was even told so by an MK main in like a match-up board when I was the newbie here.

My point is not he is unbeatable, my point is its sooooo much easier for mk than ness, and that is what we call a MU disadvantage.

But its not easier for MK at a Neutral point, the only time its easy for him is when he gets either a grab, or gets Ness offstage, which is why its a -1. On stage, Ness does really well at keeping him out. Sure, on paper it looks like MK can beat everything Ness does, but Ness has better aerial mobility and his fair is his answer to almost everything, which really makes it easier for Ness than for MK as Ness has this go to move that beats everything while MK has to guess where you'll go with fair (will you rising fair, will you retreating fair, will you empty hop faking a fair and get a nair/uair when MK tries to dodge the fair, etc) and has to guess which option of his to use.

Personal opinion on the matter, Ness does have the tools to go fairly well with MK.

-1, 0 definitely is in the realm of possibility. Definitely not -2.

Yeah Nesses do pretty darn well against MK in comparison to other members of the cast. Yink has been saying it's a -1 for ages as well.

So techincally all those options are what Yink wanted, green being her least favorite and red being her favorite.
