I lost to Atomsk... I'm still learning the Ness vs. Dedede match up.

I didn't get too much better just I started playing in the right mindset.

im not familar with Atomsk. Is that Ademisk, with a differnt alias?

dedede vs Ness is actually pretty tough. However, its definantly winnable. ive lost and won against my fair share of dededes, but as for advice im afraid i have none to give in paticular.

getting 9th at a tourney (especially one like that!!!)) means you are good. So youve gotton better, since way back when you posted your first results on 7/26/08 xD im sure i could learn a lot from you. im still losing at my local tournies (although they are over populated with Marths, lol.)

what do you mean exactly "with the right mindset" ?

Atomsk is a really good NJ player.

Playing with the right mind set is knowing your opponent is a challenge but you can over come it, no matter how tough it is. Vice grip gave good advice on that check my guide for it.

PK fire works WONDERS in the D3 matchup. PK jump a waddle throw, and your options are amazing. It's quite tough for him to DI out of the fire, as well. Keeping a wall of fire up on a waddle seriously limits his potential momentum field, keep that in mind.

Grats on the 9th place.

Atomsk DIs out so easily, I tried it. He's a top player for a reason and Pk fire tends not to work too well on top players.

Uhm... I don't know what DDDs you've been playing but they can just ftilt their waddle dee to make it fly far away from the fire.

Sure he'll DI out of it, but the fact remains that D3 has no offensive options after DI'ing through the fire, leaving him in a similar situation than he was, with just a bit more percent to make up. It may be easy to escape, but it plays a decent poke game with the heavies.

Similarly to DI'ing from the fire, if he tilts the waddle away, he's in no better a situation than he was. The only difference is that now he has limited his space for a few seconds. Additionally, in the time during the tilt, you could PK jump into D3. With a successful PK jump landing, before anyone would have a chance to DI the fire, you could get a neutral combo, grab, or at low percents, a U-tilt chain.

I wouldn't dare presume PK fire is the answer to everything, but ignoring it, especially against large characters, is just foolish.

The point is you basically have a litle mine on the field that will limit approaches and stop more waddle dees from coming. Setting off the pillar = good

I understand and I've used this tactic a lot... but still it's not going to make the matchup imo. Most good DDDs don't use the Waddles a lot anyway from what I've seen

Yea Atomsk doesn't use Waddles on stage often... He has tons of options once getting out of PK fire as well.

I've played pretty badly though. I still don't find an opportunity to use the Dtilt, and I still suicide using the PK Thunder. x_x;

Great job, Achoral and Jtails!

hey achoral, if you can give me a list of the top 8 and the characters they used for both of those tournies, the tournies can be added to the "tier list" tourney list, which will help ness out. (even if its only a little, everyone getting top 8 in a tourney of 13 or more will help ness out.)

haha, at a small tournament last saturday i got 1st in doubles and 2nd in singles. I doubt it counts for anything but it was still fun. I beat Connor's meta and snake and won the 1st set of grand finals, then he went marth for the 2nd set and it went down to 2-2 and the final match was on brinstar (my cp) and he got a tipper on me on the breakable bubble things in the middle of the stage. good times. only 11 entrants for singles but hey, 17 bucks for 2nd is $$$ i didn't have b4 lol.

link to the tournament.

haha thanks. Yea, as annoying as the matchup can be (the infinite is not a large issue, marth is just good in general vs Ness) I sux with everyone else so Ness is still my best bet and I can usually beat Marths that aren't 'mikehaze-like.'

I always switch to Snake vs Marths. The infinites isnt that bad, your right, but its just Marth has Ness` number soooo hard.....

PS: Nyjin beat Mikehaze! O_O
But i beat Nyjin in "serious" friendlys :p

lolz. is that 4 sure proven? i didn't bother experimenting w/ it just cause I jump break enough as it is for it not to be an issue. I really should try it out i guess. @ pkskyler: that's smart to pick snake, how does that usually work out 4 u? lol, serious friendlies, that's cool, he's a smart falco from what I can tell from online matches. Good stuff w/ him beating haze.

I ussually jump break too.....
It works out well until they counter pick. Corneria and Jungle Japes have screwed me over as Snake. Corneria vs Marth and Jungle Japes vs Lucario.

When he beat haze everyone from sd and chula vista yelled so loud, lol. Hes really good online but hes even better irl.
