You will have noticed that the Australian Sub-Forum is currently going through some structural changes. It is being designed to cluster the important state related threads together and to solidify their position in the list, as thread listings will now be organised in alphabetical order (not by latest post). This has a streamlining process which should make navigation easier for everyone, but especially newcomers who are looking for information on tournaments. The new structure is designed to focus everyone’s attention on the most important and relevant threads (in particular, threads which serve a meet/tournament focus), with all other mish-mash of Smash related threads to sit under the ‘Outhouse,’ a space where all other threads will be redirected.
Ideally, the new format will end up looking similar to this:
Australia (The central Subforum which contains all key threads for all states – limited to 30 threads total):
- (Sticky) Welcome and Introductions Thread for newcomers
- [National] The next Hype Tournament Thread(s)
- [ACT] Regional Tournament/Meet Threads (1)
- [NSW] Regional Tournament/Meet Threads (5)
- [QLD] Regional Tournament/Meet Threads (4)
- [SA] Regional Tournament/Meet Threads (2)
- [VIC] Regional Tournament/Meet Threads (5)
- [WA] Regional Tournament/Meet Threads (3)
The Outhouse (A Subforum for Smash Discussion and Resources in Australia):
- (Sticky) Ausmash Resource
- (Sticky) Brawl General Discussion
- (Sticky) Melee General Discussion
- (Sticky) Smash Video Threads
- (Sticky) Tournament Results Thread
- All other Smash related threads that don’t belong to ‘Australia’ or ‘Woxy’
The Woxy/Social Room (A casual Subforum for threads that don’t relate to Smash):
- Spam Thread 1
- Spam Thread 2
- Spam Thread 3, etc.
Thread formatting and rules:
The new format for the Australia Subforum will only work if the entire list of threads is limited to around 30. This is because any more threads that are added will create a 2nd page within the default SWF settings. To prevent this, I’ll be asking people to only create threads within the Australia Subforum Sparingly, and to bear in mind that the addition of a thread will signal the removal of another, into the Outhouse. Moderators for the new Australia Subforum will have the responsibility of managing the page and ensuring that all starter/spam threads are shifted to the Outhouse, where necessary.
New Thread Formatting: You will have noticed that all of the important state threads now have a ‘[NSW]’ type marking in front of them. This is to be inserted for every state thread, in order to cluster them properly.
I’ll make more updates as they come, in particular, more thread formatting rules designed to streamline the presentation of thread titles. Stay tuned.
