People rag on Dash a lot for betraying the mane 6, but when you get down to it, she was hit with probably the lowest blow of all of them. Keep in mind, it's totally within Discord's power to obliterate Cloudsdale, so you kind of have to take him for his word when he issues thinly veiled threats against the city.

So Discord issued a very real dilemma for Rainbow Dash that literally pitted the Element of Loyalty against itself. Ultimately, Dash could never have won Discord's game. Which was kind of the point. I'd say it was when Dash realized she'd lose something she loved dearly either way, that Discord had her weakened enough to hypnotize her. And once she was hypnotized, her actions weren't really her own.

Feel free to take this post seriously and not be stupidy-pantses, btw.
