While vZakat makes a fair point about growth, he first of all grossly overestimates what constitutes as growth. For the record, no pony save Twilight has truly grown. Fluttershy has opened up to Twilight, but only as a function of familiarity. It's rather heavily implied that she was already close to the other ponies before Twilight appeared on the scene, and there's no reason to think she treated them any differently before Twilight appeared. Applejack is much like the other ponies in that she may have learned a lesson or two, but nothing she learned has manifested in her acting any differently from her first introduction.

Secondly, I would argue that character growth and character development are two very different things, and I would argue that while growth is how the character changes, development also encompasses how the audience's interpretation of that character changes. That is, how much of the character's depth is revealed through storytelling.

With that in mind, I'd probably rank the characters thus:

Twilight Sparkle - Not only the only character to grow, but she's also had the most opportunities for details of her personality to arise.

Rarity - Our perceptions of Rarity, especially of late, have been rocked to their core in episodes like Suited For Success, A Dog and Pony Show, and Green isn't Your Color. Far from the wilting flower one would expect, she has some of the greatest inner strength of any of the ponies. The only reason I rank her below Twi is that she hasn't truly grown.

Fluttershy - With just about every episode, we learn more and more about Fluttershy, little by little. She's not one to wear her heart on her sleeve, for sure, but when her emotions run particularly high, we see sides of her we did not imagine. But compared to Rarity, our perceptions of her are relatively unchanged.

Pinkie Pie - When we began, Pinkie Pie was simply silly, but as the show has progressed, it seems this is simply a manifestation of her affinity for lateral thinking.

Rainbow Dash - She's still as boastful and puffed up as ever, but we've seen the insecurities her bluster belies.

Applejack - Similar to Rainbow Dash, we've seen hints of passivity and non-confrontational behavior show beneath this pony's tough hide, but only hints.

The best part about this post, is that Ajay is listed, But i'm wondering who the hell is Applajack, And Pinkie is nowhere to be seen.
