gregor mendel has much to teach us about pony genetics. it can be shown that the earth pony gene is primary trait, whereas pegasus and unicorn genes are recessive.

That is really awesome Mink. great job.
I'd say to keep to cutie mark on the tail unless you can put it by his hind legs. If you can't then it's fine on the tail.
Also if you can have the cutie mark on both sides would be better, again if you can't then it's fine.

The only other thing I'm wondering is how bad would his ears look if all red?
If you've done that already and it looks terrible then keep it the way it is.

Even the ears as they are now is great, just thought I'd ask since it'd be closer to Big Mac if the ears are all red.

Lastly I love what you did with the eyes and freckles. definitely the eyes.
Too good.

they're always like that unless she's blinking or impact.
