Frankly, I think most people who disliked Gen 3 were just incredibly butthurt over the fact that they couldn't import their old mons from Gen 1 and 2.

Besides, why would you want to play a slow, buggy, unbalanced and broken mess when you could play the vastly improved remakes?

I would go as low as to say they where broken and buggy, they where still fantastic games, though the remakes where vast improvements for 2 reasons.
1) Running Shoe
2) Gen 3/3-4 compatibility

Do you remember how many bugs R/B had?

Yes, despite the numerous bugs and such they were still great games. The remakes are still a hundred times better, though.

Not really, which ones do you mean?
Off the top of my head:

- Numerous glitch mons such as Missingno or M' which can crash and damage the game cart.
- Pokemon over level 100 appearing
- Glitch city (result of the game failing to load maps correctly, if I recall).

That's a few off the top of my head. But regardless, R/B was very buggy compared to the later games in the series.

Lol agreed. I am all for playing the game legitimately, but the glitches like unlimited rare candy and Mew made the game fun. Pretty sure it's my favorite in the series to be honest.

I hope, I can't stand DA:O in any way shape or form. If Dragon Age II is ANYTHING like Origins then I'll pass.
I've heard that Dragon Age II is closer to Mass Effect 2, which is a shame, really. I've never played either game, but from what I've seen DA:O looked like it was trying to be closer to Bioware's DnD roots.

I don't understand why someone would dislike the new system though. It doesn't really do that much at all to effect casual gamers, but it greatly enhances the competitive aspect.

Thanks to the new mechanics that Gen 3 brought, Pokmeon now has a thriving competitive metagame that I, as well as many others, am currently active in.

What is it exactly that you dislike about IVs/EVs?
A large amount of Pokemon players use Pokesav or hacks to get perfect IVs/EVs level 100 Pokemon. I understand this just fine.
The problem is, getting perfect IVs without hacks is nearly impossible. Gens 1 and 2 had a smaller gap between 'good' and 'perfect,' so people who didn't use Pokesav/hacks had a fighting chance. Now, it's not quite so balanced. It's just another thing to put people who do things the old fashioned way at even more of a disadvantage.

I didn't like gen 3 in the first place, though. All the rain made the game feel more depressing, and I didn't really like much of the town designs. 3rd gen was definitely my least favorite.

@TRG: IVs are so stupid. To legally get perfect IVs it can take weeks, there is no reason for any game to -ever- have that.

However... EVs/Natures/Abilities are very nice.

Pokegen rules though. :)

Ryu why waste time trying to get perfect IVs when you can do that in seconds on Pokemon battle simulators, or if you're hell-bent on getting perfect in game Pokemon then just buy some sort of Action Replay device for your DS.

Makes no sense to me at all lol.

It's not. You have 2 choices if you're so hell-bent on having an even playing field when playing against people online via DS:

1. Use AR to get the perfect IVs a lot faster and use the time to get better at battling...

OR

2. Waste hours upon hours upon hours getting the perfect IVs and earning their ****... Like a "real gamer" would. lol

Yeah I'd personally rather choose option 1 considering I find breeding and such boring as crap and battling a lot more entertaining.

Then the spirit of fair play and fair competition is wasted on you, someone who would rather take the easy way out.

You're taking everything too seriously these are video games you're acting as if I cheated on a test. lol

I don't find breeding fun so I'd prefer to use the fastest method to get the results I want... It's just a matter of me doing something I find fun instead of boring. That's what video games are for... amirite?

Plus I don't even battle online with Wi-Fi... I use Pokemon battle simulators. More competition and NO breeding required. ;)

i spent so much time actually breeding ivs and i got pretty good at it and some worthy results. i also chained quite a few shinies. then i learned to influence the rng and got put off to the whole thing altogether. i feel that maxing ivs makes the game annoying. for shoddy battle at least they should have a cap for ivs maybe total 135 instead of the max 186 or so to reduce the undeserved bulk. idk that's not practical. i just wanna go back to playing yellow

Speeding up a process is not "taking the easy way out." No, sharking all of your mons to learn a one-hit KO move that hits every time is taking the easy way out.

It's like saying that sequence breaking in Metroidvanias is "taking the easy way out."

You can play your way and I'll play mine

It IS annoying that's why I choose not to do it. ^.^

Which reminds me I haven't played R/B/Y in forever... This needs to change.

Wait, you're serious....
God damn, really....
So, are you saying using a gameshark in lets see, Final Fantasy to max out your stats is not cheating b/c you're gonna do it anyway?

Use ****ing logic....

Hell no. In pokemon that's the end game, and there's no problem in using sneaky ways to get IV's rather than taking all of that time breeding (which is boring has hell, btw). Then you can use all of that time you would have spent breeding battling other players instead.

The difference between that and maxing out your stats in FF? In FF you're doing that so you can blow through the game without a challenge. In Pokemon, you do it so you can actually get to more battles rather than run around in circles with eggs in your inventory.

Don't criticize people for not playing games the way you want them to.

I disagree, T&T is arguable the best one in the series. JFA is the weakest IMO.
He saying that they improved JFA to make T&T.
