I read your whole text correctly the first time. There's no guarantee that Meta Knight will be revealed, I know that, but your reasoning for saying it is illogical to expect him is just wrong since it is based on trends that have been observed from past veteran reveals, trends which I might like to point out are based on limited data and not exactly close to being consistent, so relying on them to make the claim that expecting Meta Knight tonight is illogical is not the best idea. Going by the trends we've been seeing it would have been logical for Yoshi to have been revealed with his game and a pokemon to be revealed with the release of X and Y, but they weren't and that might seem illogical according to the rules we have but these "rules" we're placing on the reveals of characters are not really rules, they're just trends we have observed and therefore used those trends to predict future reveals. Other rule breakers were Luigi, Peach, Marth, and Lucario. The ones who do conform to your rules for veteran reveals are Olimar, King Dedede, Toon Link and Zelda. Really, you have more deviations and exceptions to the rules on veteran reveals than you do characters that conform to the rules you think are in place. The only rules for character reveals we can safely say exist is that newcommers only get revealed in Nintendo Directs, since that rule has a really good track record.
In other words, you have no idea what you're talking about.
You seem to think I'm implying there's some "rule" about when veterans get revealed. I'm not.
I'm saying that by the logic of
reveals tied to release dates, Meta Knight being revealed tonight has absolutely no sense of logic.
But since you've decided to bring up the veterans revealed on absolutely random days, allow me to show you where you just ruined your whole train of thought.
Random Reveals: Luigi, Peach, Sonic, Marth, Zero Suit Samus, Sheik, Yoshi, Charizard
These are all characters revealed on days that hold absolutely no significance to these characters or their franchises (though some argue that Peach is to tie in to the anniversary of Super Mario Bros.' release the following day).
Release Tie-Ins: Olimar, Toon Link, Zelda, Dedede, Diddy Kong
These are all characters revealed on the Japanese release dates (with Diddy Kong being sole exception for specific reasoning) of a game in their franchises where they hold significant roles.
Other: Lucario
Lucario is the only one that breaks the mold thus far. He was revealed to celebrate the 6th anniversary of Brawl's Japanese release.
What you're proposing is that Meta Knight be revealed tonight as a Release Tie-In.
Let's break it into your skull why this doesn't work;
-It's not a Japanese release. Diddy Kong may have been revealed on Tropical Freeze's American release, but that is solely because a global Nintendo Direct fell on the Japanese release. Also worth noting that Tropical Freeze is the
only game where the American (and European, since it was same day) release was even acknowledged.
-It's a game that's already got a character reveal tied into it; Dedede. No game thus far has multiple release acknowledges.
-Meta Knight IS NOT IN IT. All release tie-ins actually have something of importance to do with the games they are revealed to tie-in for. Meta Knight? Has nothing to do with Triple Deluxe aside from Circus Kirby able to use a balloon of him and
Dark Meta Knight's surprise appearance for the Extra Mode.
So, the only option here is that he's another random reveal. Which would be
very illogical to predict his reveal to be tonight, since the point of a random reveal is to be, well....RANDOM.
If we're going to be talking logically, then the probability of having Meta Knight revealed tonight is a lot higher than it is most nights and therefore is not illogical to expect him revealed tonight.
1. With the Halberd stage returning, Meta Knight is definitely a returning veteran
2.Meta Knight is the only remaining unrevealed veteran associated with the Kirby franchise.
3. The chances of him being revealed during a PotD are highest on days that are relevant to the Kirby franchise
4. Today is a relevant date for the Kirby franchise, possibly the most relevant between now and when the game gets released.
1. Irrelevant as to why
tonight is supposedly "the night" for Meta Knight. Wario's got two assists shown already, Captain Falcon's got his rival returning as an assist, and the Ice Climbers have their Polar Bear enemies in Smash Run. They are definitely returning as well; what puts Meta Knight ahead of them?
2. Irrelevant point.
3. Not factoring in newcomers, Luigi, Peach (though some debate this), Sonic, Marth, Lucario, Zero Suit Samus, Sheik, Yoshi, and Charizard were all revealed on days irrelevant to their franchises. Also, plenty of opportunities passed for other unreleased veterans (including Yoshi prior to the Smash Direct) with days relevant to their franchises and didn't get revealed at those times. What makes Meta Knight so likely to be shown off for an American release of a game that Sakurai's already celebrated and doesn't even have Meta Knight in it as opposed to just being one of many random reveals on random days?
4. Which means absolutely nothing.
