Eh, I do think it looks a bit off, though. The mirroring of the veins (and by extension, the mirroring of the shadows/highlights on it) I can live with, but the... er... meatballs also look like they're a 2D sprite.. it looks a bit off to me :/

I am more inclined to believe that the Metroid appearance hints more at Palutena than Ridley. The chapter in Uprising that had the Metroid-like creatures, Komaytos, was a town being attacked. The caption makes mention of this... "An insatiable, unidentified extraterrestrial is targeting a certain peaceful town…!" Pretty sure this pic of the day is a reference to that chapter. Palutena even gives Pit a lesson about them during gameplay.

I'm not so sure I expect this, but I can totally imagine a trailer for a newcomer like Kalos Trainer, Palutena, Robin or someone and when we think its over we hear "Falcon Punch!" and Cpt. Falcon is revealed, some small clips with him, then the trailer continues to cover online mode or something and then "Wahaha!" and Wario is here and speeds through story mode on his bike, I dunno.
But for the pic tonight? Y'know some filler about "Todays the day! Watch the direct!"

I'm going into the direct with no expectations and just being happy with what is shown. 1 newcomer? Great. A veteran too? Wonderful. Gameplay? Fantastic. You feel more satisfied if you come in with no expectations only to have info dumped.
