Didn't Sakurai say "there will be cross-platform features involving character customization"? If so, then the outlines can't be what hes referring to. How would that work?

I originally thought that I'd like the outlines better, but after seeing this pic, I think I actually like the characters without a thick outline.

It's still surprisingly good without oulines.

That said, I begin to fear this March will likely be the second-worst reveal month after October 2013.

Nope, Sakurai specifically said "its not costumes". I seriously have no idea what it could be, besides something Mii related.

If I was getting the 3DS version I'd probably have the outlines on too.

I definitely think I'll have the outlines on, but I wonder how exactly they affect the 3D... Not that I see it being feasible to play with that on unless it's 100% guaranteed not to drop the frame rate.

Actually, he didn't really say there'd wouldn't be 'costumes'. ^^ He said there'd not be costomization, as in, putting on a hat and adding stuff like that.
Though, I doubt costumes would be part of the 3DS-exclusive features anyways.

Well, we already know the game has costumes, He Fit Trainer.

That's an awesome name for him. And yes, that's true, but it's hard to know if Sakurai sees that as a 'costume'. May be pretty much exclusive to WFT since, well, gender stuff. And Villager, hopefully.

But costumes have existed since Brawl (Wario), but he, too, is a special case. I just hope more will have costumes. I reeeally wanna battle as Dry Bowser.

If you count all the pictures (including multi-picture days) in March, that's 12 Wii U pictures and 11 3DS pictures.

I expect one. Male Villager is more iconic than female, and female WFT is more iconic that male WFT. So those more iconic are promoted more, and used as the 'true' version, while also having the other gender available. ^^ Should be good.

Yeah, Sakurai needs to make up for the lack of flashy cutscenes with SOMETHING. Cool alternate costumes would be perfect for all that Nintendo referencing, especially Helmetless Megaman, Old Snake, Dry Bowser, Dr. Mario and Outset Link.

I have to say, getting the confirmation that this game is gonna have 3D in battle just makes me more angry that the 3D in Pokemon is so atrocious. >_< I'm assuming Sakurai wouldn't let a fighting game out the door that drops to 20 FPS or less when the 3D is on. >_>

I wonder if they'll hold back the 3Ds version to optimize it.

I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't mind no March reveals if it meant a Newcomer was shown early April.

Indeed, no complaints from me if that were the case. Besides, I highly doubt there will be many Veteran cuts. I'd much rather see a newcomer rather than a confirmation.

Still, with many people assuming cuts will happen, it's always great to see a former main, a favorite character or an interesting fighting archetype return.

I wouldn't mind for there to be no reveal this month for a newcomer next month. But I just want to see my 2 mains return because they were cut in Brawl and many believe that my Brawl mains have a high chance of being cut too. *Knocks on wood*

This month has had tons of new info. Compare it to something like October, with lots of filler and only Sonic- and no newcomer for another 2 months.

Well, we DO need more villains. Bowser, Ganondorf, MegaKnight, Dedede and Wolf isn't enoiugh. Especially since Dedede and MetaKnight barely Counts anymore. Ridley, King K. Rool, Medusa/Hades, would make the roster so much more Epic. But we'll see. Layton is extremely unlikely, but he would be neat.

Marth to Rosalina- 40 days
Sonic to Marth- 37 days
Luigi to Peach- 35 days

I wouldn't be surprised if we got a Nintendo Direct next Wednesday or Thursday to end the drought though since we'll be at 40-41 by then.
