So far it looks like one of two things will happen, either we'll get a veteran reveal really soon since it appears that if enough time passes, Sakurai will reveal a veteran even if there is no game to correspond with the reveal. I'm basing this of the fact that peach was randomly revealed after 36 days of no reveal and no game around that time for a reveal to happen. Same thing happened with Marth after 37 days of Sonic being announced.

The other option is that we will get a nintendo direct soon enough, so we might not get a veteran reveal and have to wait longer but we'll probably get a new character reveal which would be much better. and I'm basing this on the 41 day wait after Marth was revealed until we got Rosalina.

so...any day now...If it's a veteran I hope it's Sheik. If it's a new comer then I hope it's Shulk.

Well if that's the case then I really hope to see that disproved soon. 3/4 characters are ones that I loved in Brawl, so seeing any of them revealed randomly in a PotD would be great.

Considering that the 3DS version will utilize the 3D features, I'm pretty sure that it'll probably take longer to complete than the Wii U version.

This. Even though we're not getting veterans just yet, compare any pic we've gotten over the past few months to the utter garbage we were getting last fall and there's no comparison. People aren't having to resort to the whole high-horsey "It's okay that we're getting nothing because how dare we not be grateful on bended knee to Sakurai for marketing his game" screed because we are getting some truly fascinating tidbits here and there, even though those tidbits aren't as large as the ones we'll have to look forward to closer to release.

There's also the fact that, let's face it, virtually all of us were hopelessly stupid when we first started using forums. Way back in 2002 I banned from the Adult Swim forums because of all the dumb stuff I posted. Hell, I even cringe when I read some of the stuff I posted here back in 2006 so most people do get better as they get older and learn the ins and outs of socializing online.

I'm thinking you should count any extra pictures that were shown off in the same update (the 4 pic 3D Land stage update, for example.)

I haven't because I've treated the pics of the day like a yes or no question: does it feature new content? It could be argued that October had several updates more than I suggested that I said had new content but I didn't count them because they were primarily inconsequential things about the Pilot Wings stage.

Exactly. Honestly Miiverse has just given a bunch of kids access to something we all probably specifically sought out as kids.

How rare is Wednesday for a reveal? Seems likely in my mind but I can't remember if it's ever happened.

If we get a character this week, it's most likely to be on Friday or Thursday. But tonight's pic is following a relatively boring pic (outlines), and Sakurai tends to make up for filler with something cool the next day.

Needless to say, Nintendo as a whole needs an excitement injection right now.

Nintendo opted to not go to Pax this year mind you, retailers have been leaking a earlier release of Mario Kart and it's the perfect time to give a juicy direct before E3 ships start pumping. I think they may have something to share, given that so little was actually announced last direct.

I'll give it to the first week of April. That sound just about right.

Newcomer and a veteran before E3 is my guess.
