Melee Back Room Restructure

The MBR is currently going through a restructuring process. In the coming weeks, we will be removing all current members and starting over. We are also changing the MBR from invite only to application based to promote a more accepting attitude towards players who would like to be actively involved.

We are looking for motivated, intelligent individuals with a passion for the game and the community, as well as a desire to directly influence where it is heading. The new MBR has a wide range of projects on the horizon that will need committed contributors to complete and maintain.

Prior to filling out the forthcoming application, please take the time to think about the commitment involved in being a member of the MBR. If you believe you have the ability and the time to be of value to the MBR and to the Melee community, we welcome you to submit your application for review.

It will probably be both Teczero. The 64 backroom has you join the usergroup in conjunction with sending all of the backroom leaders your application.

Current procedure will involve all applicants posting their applications publicly in the application thread. This will include old MBR members seeking acceptance to the new MBR, as well as myself and other current leaders. (Though we are going a bit biased in reviewing our own applications. )

Sounds to me like basically the same thing as the 64 backroom. I think the application is only part of what they look at; they also consider your posting history and your tournament performance/smash skill. If you're a top player like Armada you're practically guaranteed to get in.

actually, it's supposed to be that way anyway. it just so happens that the MBR is almost entirely top tournament hosts from experience, top players because skill and knowledge are bound together, or the best thinkers because they are deemed as such.

Just saying, with the 64 backroom done in this way, a lot of very good players didn't apply for various reasons, like not knowing about the application period or real life commitments.

While this does filter those without dedication/ability to regularly check forums, it does have its share of problems.
