I'll try to keep this as simple as possible.

Vote yes, if you accept Mew2King's proposition for Robocop:

  • $10 is added on to the Robocop entry fee to cover his flight ($30 going to the pot, $15-$20 to CouchWarriors treasury, $10 to M2K's flight) - this brings the total cost of Robocop's entry fee to $55-60.
  • Everyone is guaranteed a minimum of one 5-set match with M2K if they wish to take it, during his Australian stay.
  • The existing donation fund of $400-$700 may be used for other sponsorship purposes or completely refunded (this will be determined individually by existing donators).
  • The M2K 30% pot cap remains (he keeps half of what he wins).

If you don't agree with this proposition, vote no. Only valid voters will be counted.

Voting no cause I don't think people should be forced to pay for M2K if they don't want to. I know some people aren't donating for more that just money reasons.

I honestly like the system we had before, lets keep pushing towards that $1300 mark.

the problem with the previous system, is that m2k wanted to not only have his flight paid for but also be allowed to win money, and pretty much everyone else didnt like that.

so essentially every smasher who comes to robocop is forced to give $10 to mew2king
(and he takes the prize money which we pay for also)
no thanks

if this goes through ill actually boycott this tournament

this is forcing all the people who didn't want to pay a cent/dont want m2k over to support him

you're stripping people of their choice if you go through with this and taking money from people who want to simple play smash, but don't want to support m2k

terrible idea

Agreed, I really think $1300 is get-able and we should focus on that.

Luke I honestly have no problem with M2k taking some of the pot. I think the current restrictions are enough to give him an incentive to come but not take too much from other winners. Just my personal opinion.

I dont really have a problem with it either, its just the way he went about it, since he changed the deal on us and then started whinging and telling us about all the times he got ****ed over.

just to clarify, im happy to chip in, its just that this is revoking people of their choice between supporting m2k or LEGITIMATELY not wanting m2k to come

i know that not EVERY SINGLE person attending robocop wants m2k to come, no offense to him

Agreed with Melancholy - you're basically forcing a donation... Sure, it's $10, but that's $10 more that each and every person has to come up with, which will impact slightly on local attendance (psychological difference of $10 is bigger than it should be) and, whilst not being a deciding factor for OoS folk, guaranteed they won't want to part with $10 that they don't have to (especially people who are paying $400+ just to be there already)... Remember, the greater proportion of Aus smashers are impoverished Uni students who'll be saving up for a few weeks (in my case, a month and a half - already got the cash :D) to be there, not to mention giving up three of the most commonly worked days for students... M2K I'm sure would relate to this (to be brutally honest, if he has the money to lend thousands of dollars to other smashers/pay for their tickets by himself then he can't be in too worse a position, it's just that he made a choice that backfired, which is sad but not a reason to want a funded trip :p)

This, and I'm pretty certain that you're severely underestimating the ease of which these "guaranteed sets" will be played out:

- If they're forced to pay for it, people would be stupid not to take it
- Everyone has different time limits as not everyone lives in Melbourne
- Tournament will obviously take priority, meaning at least a small amount of sets will get interrupted (would you start the set again? ---> more time)
- Depends on availability of players - obviously you can't do these ALL at the tournament, which means some will have to be deferred to the fests, which requires a lot of foresight in terms of who's going to be where and at what time
- What about the people who want more MMs with M2K??? You can't just give someone one shot and then not allow another because he's got to do other forced matches... Especially for the people who don't particularly mind abotu MMing M2K but would under pseudo-forced circumstances such as this...
- Sure, he's M2K, but you got to realise as well people won't just be wanting to play smash, they'll be wanting him to give them advice about how they played, what to do better etc. and will be asking him questions... This all takes time!!!

Also, he'd still be getting his flights somewhat paid for him, and taking a chunk of the pot, which I'm pretty sure some of the people who were willing to donate were against... Sure, his flights MAY not be paid in full, but if you have 100 brawl people then it'll be pretty ****ed close to it, which will annoy the people who didn't want to donate in the first place... This is a summary of what I gathered fromt he other thread anyway :D

EDIT: Interested to see that shmot voted 'yes' :O

I briefly read through the previous threads and wasn't it decided that it would be in m2k's best interest (money wise) to pay for his own ticket here and have full access to the pot like any other player would?
If so why don't we just do that.

e- i assume this is only implemented if the $1300 donation mark is not made.
I voted yes but i still feel there would be a better way to do things

i was gonna mm him anyway. and i assumed everyone else was the same. besides, 30% of the pot isnt that much anyway.

actually, i dont like the idea as much anymore, although i keep my vote. just thought about the smash noobs who'll be forking out 10 bucks extra even though they havent even heard of m2k before.

困るんだな~

EDIT: i now wish to retract my vote.

Just stay in the U.S if you're after the money.

Kthnx.

Not such a good impression made M2K. I'd rather pay for Mike G or Captain Jack (again). They're really good people to hang out/socialise with.

Totally agree with Dekar + Redact.

God. So much hate.
Although I don't think it's fair on M2K, it's not like he came to us begging for a tournament, just got duped, and lol.
I think it's pretty fair. $10 isn't 'whoa' to get one of the best Melee/Brawl players here.
I don't think we should pay anymore than half of his total flight costs and 30% of winnings isn't much either. It will still have a bit left over for the other winners.

But as for socialising/anything other than Smash, I dunno.
I don't know him at all, so I can't say.

so if everyone pays an extra $10 for tourney entry then M2K doesnt get the donations.

ok some more maths for you cause it wont make a difference.

expected attendance for robocop is 120 according to cao.
so 120 x 10 = $1200 (still less then the donation target and doesnt even pay for his flight)

expected pot of $3600 according to Cao
split 30/45/25/10 with M2K winning
(15-15/45/25/10 for doubles)
$900 per event.
so M2K winnings
270 + 270 + 135 + 135 = $810

total $2010.

well still gives him only a few hundred dollars profit. probably will get more the original way of getting donated and 30% pot.

120 sets is pretty rediculous as well to try and orgainse especially when most of these sets would have to be played during the tournament, it is already hard enough running a tourney with people playing friendlies and MMs.
some more maths for you.
assuming each of these sets are best of five, M2K wins 3-0 each set and each game goes for 90seconds the total time M2K will be involved in playing MM with only 100 people will be 7.5hrs. which is doable during the tournanment, but an unnecassary inconvenience.

so imo dont force people to pay for your flight here, those who wish to money match will do so and you can say if your not going to pay at least $10 bucks for a MM then dont play them. I beleieve there will be enough interest that people would pay anyway, and as vyse for an example some may pay more for more MM or larger sets.

i think no on the basis that i think donations will cover the cost if people across australia are interested. Maybe take a little out of the monthly funds and save? People hardly come to them to win cash seeing as tibs wins brawl and dekar or cao mins melee every time but we still get good attendance. Channel some money from that. Everyone put a little in and we will easily get him over. It will be amazing to get the worlds best brawl and former best melee player and we could learn something from it. Don't be dumb and bag him for not being super socialable he is coming for a smash tourney not to make bffl's in aus who he will never see again.

****ing lol Surgi, you haven't been to a major have you? If you have you would know that it's not tibs wins brawl and cao wins melee all the time.

Yeah, majors will have different results compared to a monthly. Known fact.

I don't really know how to feel for this, Pot doesn't really bother me because I know for a fact I'm quite inexperienced and probably wont even make it out of pools anyway XD.

But yeah, I'm just not going to take sides and let everyone else choose.

Umm, this isn't my idea - this was M2Ks.

My current idea of fundraising still stands.

I think after this we just need to settle on the existing arrangements I've already made, as outlined in the first post of the RC thread. No more suggestions from M2K or the public, or anyone. You just lose focus this way and confuse everyone. If it doesn't work out we already have multiple options in moving forward.
