I didn't know what to expect but it wasn't Isabelle a unique fighter... that trailer was like anti-hype too.
I feel like Ridley, Simon, and K. Rool's trailers all not only pumped me up, but made me start believing the impossible ( Geno, Banjo ) were now possible.
Isabel kinda had the opposite effect on me. Now I'm feeling a step below "cautiously optimistic"

I don't know, I'm starting to doubt Skull Kid considerably now. Feels more in line where we were pre-E3 where Skull Kid wasn't a blip on most peoples radars for this game.

Majority of my expected newcomers would be echo slots.

I'm only expecting at most 10 unique newcomers. Which is 4 less than we got in Melee.(Which was the least introduced not including N64) It's not like I'm expecting every reveal here on out to be unique characters.

I totally relate to you dudes. I'm happy for Isabelle but Skull Kid needed to happened NOW because he's at the peak of his buzz or was suddenly. Now the attention span for the character will drop like flies.

I’m not fully convinced SK and Isaac weren’t planned to be revealed last week. The last thing you want to show after last week’s tragic events is a guy who makes earthquakes and another who brings a terrible fate. Isabelle seems like a much more sensible choice to promote Smash with. Given the many, many skipped blogs, I can’t see how she alone would cover for them. Things don’t add up.

No, you are reaching... That animal crossing reveal has been planned for a while. This is all there is. There have been missed blog posts in the past without any shifts in content, so this time having more than 3 is not weird. Web design is a messy process specially with last minute changes.

I wouldn't worry about the Dante leak on 4chan.

In that same twitter thread of replies is another Dante leak, the reason why Matt was asked about him in the first place.

Vergeben mentions Isabelle and the other characters that this new leak claimed...I wouldn't bet on it.

The word "echo" is not interchangeable with "clone".

An Echo Fighter, by all official bits of information, is a special term for some clone characters that are identical in weight, speed, animations etc. and have their attack assets ripped from other characters (usually all from one, but Chrom has one move from Ike). Sakurai has specifically stated that Echo fighters aren't balanced against the whole roster, only their base character. This is what really cuts down on their dev time more than anything.
A clone character is a character that's similar to another character in some respects, be it attacks, appearance, etc. There are varying degrees of being a clone character, it's a spectrum. Falco is a semi-clone, while Young Link and Toon Link are clones of each other. Some characters can be made less similar between installments, and become so different that they're their own character while still obviously being based on another character. This happened to Luigi from 64 to Melee.
From most similar to least similar:

Echo>Clone>Semi-clone>Luigification

Once you understand that, you'd understand the term "semi-Echo" doesn't make sense. You either are an Echo, or you aren't.

It seems a bit early to be pessimistic - Isabelle's announcement didn't confirm anything about Skull Kid one way or the other, and she seems to be a semi-clone at least, so she'd be nowhere near as time-consuming as a unique newcomer.

Not gonna lie with Isabelle getting in as a unique character my hype for Ultimate has taken a small hit as it opened my eyes to what to expect for the rest of the roster. This deconfirmed so many things in favor of Skull Kid and Banjo is still wishful thinking. Now we also have talks that Geno might not actually make it in.

Problem is there's likely not many newcomers left, and Incineroar would bring us up to 6 newcomers. After that there's probably only 1-2 more for a total of 8.

There's also now a strong possibility of Dixie being a semi-clone, which I'd love and she's my most wanted besides Skull Kid. But now the last slot will probably be in competition with Skull Kid/Geno/Isaac/third party rep...and now only one of those are likely getting in.

Super happy for Isabelle supporters. Personally i'm not losing hope for Skull Kid at all, there's plenty of time left before Ultimate.

Looking back at the direct it was very fitting to announce Isabelle as a fighter alongside the new Animal Crossing. I'm thinking they're probably keeping the ''big reveals'' with CGI cinematic trailers and all for a real Smash Direct.

Tho i understand that some people are disappointed but tbh my little disappointement just disappear when i see Isabelle supporters happy as they are now.

Realistically we only have two months left for a reveal. There's definitely going to be a smash direct November but that'll only give us two more unique fighters. This is assuming there will be a reveal in October. There's at least one Pokemon character so that alone takes a time frame.
