Well my team is Dan/Roll/Zangief but they are so cheap I always feel bad when I use them because I just own everybody with no effort or even skill really. So when I want to be honorable I use CyclopsAA/CableA/SentinelA or Y depending on the situation. But Cyclops has been lacking so I was thinking of switching the team to StormA/CableAA/SentinelA or Y. Storm is so good lol. Another team I like to use is MorriganAA/ThanosA/SonsonY, but once again I've switched StormA in for Sonson haha. I think storm is my second favorite, sentinel would have to be my first even though I don't know any of his combos.

Anyways back to what I was saying, when he switches should I pushback from block, or block then wait for the pose to run in and combo? I think I should try to play more defensive against him.

Generally, there should be enough lag when the character poses so you should be fine. Just speed up your reaction time and know when to block.

But since you're using characters like Storm, Sentinel, and Cable, you shouldn't even be playing defensive in the first place. Rush him down and punish him if he keeps switching out.

And don't forget to build meter with Storm.

I occasionaly run into that problem when I rush in through the air they switch and that small window of invincibility along with the incoming char's attack, I'm left kinda hopeless (especially since they can combo afterwards)

If you block it, try to react quickly and wavedash towards them (though Thanos is pretty slow)
That equals a combo for most any char.

Or abuse you're assists, unless your playing Yipes I doubt you'll get snapped out and have your assist killed.

How do you wavedash in this game? Do you mean Triangle jumping or is there something different?

I start off with Storm call out Sentinel assist then super jump and spam Fierces to get about half a meter. Then Cable wastes it all then I go back to Storm. I try to use Sentinel to finish off annoying characters that I can't handle with Storm/Cable b/c Rocket punch is OP.

I usually put Blackheart or Cable on point and camp like a ghey. Occasionally throw in a Juggernaut PAWNCH for some shenanigans.

>__>

Works pretty good. Juggernaut comes out only when the campers are down in health---but that's only long enough for me to give myself a window to do the Juggs superdamage glitch. Then I bring out one of the campers and continue the camp. Then I "lol" as Juggs comes out and either A) gets his *** whooped or B) whoops other ***.

I need a better team. ;_;

Wavedash is simple, you just press both punches (to dash) and hold down/forward, which cancels the dash with a crouch while still moving forward

This can be repeated to get across the stage faster.

So I finally got a legit copy of MvC2 along with MvC for the Dreamcast. Time to play the crap out of this game, again.

For you Dreamcast owners; why are you buying this game? You can get this pretty much for free and with a custom soundtrack and custom colors. I would NEVER pay anywhere near $30.00 for even an original copy of this game. There is no need to waste your money. Just download and burn it to a blank disk and you're good to go. There are programs scattered across the internet on how to make it self-boot so you won't need a boot disk to play a burned copy.

As for you PS2 owners, the only thing I can say is invest in the dreamcast version as it is arcade-perfect but if it's all you have, then by all means buy it.

I have played this game for numerous years and even traveled to tournaments, but I put this game down to pick up melee. I just wish I got into melee sooner because it is just as deep to a certain degree as MvC2.

Anyway, I'll answer most of whatever questions you all may have so ask away.:)

I have a burned copy of it, but I like the feeling of owning the original game.

thank you judge, this will prove quite useful hehe :chuckle:

Minato who would be a good third to use with Strider/Doom? I seem to like that team a lot even though strider takes hits like a *****. I tried Blackheart but is there anybody better?

I understand completely, however, I bought the original back when it was worth the price (maybe $40-$50 new). The price for it now is just not worth it IMHO.

This game is completely biased towards the marvel characters at high level play and it's totally not fair. My favorite character to play is Mega Man and in order to compete with him, I have put Cable and Sentinel on there for good measure because my old Mega Man team (Mega Man/Cammy/Sonson) gets owned practically for free.

Oh well, it's good to play as for fun I guess.:ohwell:

Yea, trying to get a new copy, let alone used, is really ridiculous. The most expensive game I've payed for dreamcast was Capcom vs Snk, and that was $25

Wow, I used to have CvS2 for the DC but I lost it a while back.

Tron with Y-Assists makes a vast majority of the low tiers decent. When you get anything+Tron-Y equal close to half life gone plus tremendous block stun, it's really not that bad. Morrigan with Tron-Y is completely ********. It's a ghetto version of Storm/Tron-Y. I used to play Morrigan-AA/Rogue-Y/Tron-Y as a low-tiered team. It's actually quite fun to play.

Try out Jill-B/Juggernaut-B/Tron-Y and do the Juggernaut glitch coupled with Tron. Teams will get demolished in seconds. There are stupid gimmicks with Jill/Juggernaut that makes this team function quite well together.

Team Shoto works well together as a low-tiered team also.

MithX, if you are going to play Blackheart, start him on point and just build meter by whoring those demons (FP and FK) coupled with Doom rocks for added chip. Blackheart is by far the easiest character to play because 70% of the time, you will be in the air anyway. Then whenever you feel like it, either burn some meter by doing Inferno - HOD or let Strider take over and trap. The choice is yours.

However, Sentinel is by far the best choice as a third character for Strider/Doom. The team last a lot longer if Strider happens to go early and you would still have a formidable duo to work with. If you want to completely focus on Strider/Doom themselves, get an AAA like Cyclops or Commando. Ken is not a bad choice here either and maybe Cammy.

I got the game only because it was included in a group of other games I bought from a guy. Basically I only paid 10 bucks for this game.

The reason I put Rogue in front of Strider is becuz she doesn't need meter and has some ok stuff w/ Doom. That's how I addressed the 3rd char issue.

I like Strider and all, but s/d teams are a pain to play. Always worrying about having enough meter, hoping a snap-out doesn't destroy the entire team.

One day when I get a DC, I'm holding a Capcom only tournament. NO MARVEL BROKENNESS!!!

Don't forget about Cable and his multiple AHVB cheesiness and guard canceling. The teams able to compete at high level play are all centered around those three characters mentioned because they benefit the most from the brokenness of the game's engine. Infinites, guard breaks, resets, unblockables, one-hit kills, etc. the god tiers gets all of this plus more and virtually for free in many situations.

Ah I see. What's the learning curve for this game? I never played it more than a few times in my local arcade. I was better than most people there, but I can't vouch for anyone's skill much less my own. lol

IM/WM are both pretty good, they build good meter. Sent, Cyke, and Mags are other good choices.

Hi desert, Socal
I love Sentinal to death, but I suck with him and I hate having to think of AA assists to cover him. Especially when the assisting char sucks.

Which is why I hate playing Santhrax, I just don't like how weak Commando is.

Same for most any AA assist except Cyke, or Cammy.

Can any1 recommend some good AA assist chars that don't get rushed for free?

Maybe black heart. It's just like Commando's except not a Melee move so he should be good.

That's one thing I hate about Sentinel as well, he gets rushed too hard in the butt and AA doesn't help. I still love him though <3

CbGreiga: GL with those teams those seem hard to win with. Me and my friend were having Servbot dittos and he got bored and switched to wolverine and killed mine =[

Blackheart is probably better because he doesn't suck and the column always appears directly under the enemy.

The only thing CC's AAA has over BH's is that "Get the f*** off me" affect. BH's is more like "Stop it!"

I might throw in BH, just need to actually practice the team.

Throw Cammy into the equation. Storm/Sent/Cammy is still good and she's a great character to fight back with than say Commando. KBA combos FTW.

If you don't like getting rushed that much, you can always put Doom rocks or Tron rings into the equation. Tron rings hurt.

SSCammy is what I've been playing, and nobody tries to snap in Cammy as much as they would commando.

The only thing I have against Cammy's assist is if it misses and Magnus rushes in, snaps me out and kills Cammy.
Though this has only happened to me twice I'm not gonna get rid of Cammy.

BH is good and all, but I'm not partial to any char staying in the air as long as Sent, and surprise AHVB ***** BH.

Does anyone know about the MvC 3 news and/or the MvC 2 possibly coming to the xbox marketplace?
We discussed it earlier in this thread, but there's no new news as of late.
I'm not surprised since Capcom is trying to focus on Street Fighter IV's release first.

I thought people used Doom's Photon Cannon assist instead of rocks
Just try out Doom's Anti Air assist. It's so much better, even if Strider's not in your team.

Ok I'll try it out. Then that means I should replace my AAA with doom and get another or just stick with BH AAA?

Well, Doom's AAA isn't that great for anti-air (even though it's called one). His AAA doesn't even go higher than Sentinel's ground (?) assist. It's used more for pressuring which also enables you to chip damage along other things. Black Heart's AAA is more suited for anti-air if that's what you're going for.

Like I said, try it out and see what works better for you.

Doom Rocks are interesting they work better close up rather than far away. I think I'll stick with rocks from now on.
